  1. Where did you hear about this? It was announced on the splash front page a week or so ago. Then pushed down when #101 pages 15+ rolled into stock.
  2. Well seeing as #103 pages upwards are likely to be sold directly on Ebay from now on people are going to see exactly how deep this goes. What I want to know is if they will be BIN, BIN/BO or auction. If a "good" zombie page is $650 - $700 on Splash then you can probably add 10% ebay fee and say 4% Paypal on top of the Splash price for BIN. So maybe not BIN? Besides auctions would be far more interesting This has the potential to spread awareness of OA availability. There haven't really been regular international listings up until ... well soon. I'd say it's the right move for Mark / Charlie looking at the secondary market right now. Yes there have been some people who have struggled to break even but in general the listings have been atrocious... and why would the agent / artist care if they are still getting roughly the same value or better? Maybe it will answer a few questions on here. There is one other attraction about TWD OA in general for me (that I have mentioned before) and I would think for other people too. I have given up on getting a full run of TWD because it's now realistically out of reach for me. Have been quite happily flipping what I have (and have bought up) to get OA and then sticking with trades. I simply shudder at the thought of paying out $xxxx.00 for #1, but am happy to fill the void with something unique like OA.
  3. Quite a lot of online retailers in the UK have already sold out of issue 3, but I am assuming they will try and back order / re-order. There is either a sudden increase in pull or the speculators are going nuts! ... link
  4. If the franchise loses its base I reckon the pages will decrease in value as much as Sandman pages have over the years (I'm not stating a preference, but the book is a modern classic already.) It's just seems unusual for the value to be realised so quickly. ...but I agree most people have their price and circumstance can change it. If anyone that was a big enough fan won a stupid amount of lottery money the pages would be gone.
  5. I reckon you are bang on with this. Good 2nd issue... roll on issue 3! #1 and #2 seem to be sold out now but there seems to still be the prospect of UK back order on #2 at least. edit: oh and was the Tim Seeley AMA posted here already? If it was here or elsewhere here are the TLDR Revival snippets for any that did not see it: So what is Revival about? Mike Norton is great, too, so it is a book I will definitely have to check out. Tim: "Mike Norton is great! The book is a rural crime noir with horror elements, about a Wisconsin town and how it's affected by the return of 23 people who were very recently quite dead. The story focuses on a cop and her family, as she deals with a city under the pressure of a quarantine, and the walking dead, most of whom who just want their old lives back. But not all." Did you recruit Norton specifically because of his Wisconsin ties? The man has drawn a lot of Wisconsin comics.... Tim: "ha, nope. That's a coincidence. I'm from Wisconsin, but Mike is a Tennesseean who happens to constantly get stuck drawing snow. TIM" --------------------------------------- Is REVIVAL going to be mostly based in the Wausau area? Are the resurrections only happening in that area, or more widespread? Tim: "Yes. Though the event definitely affects the whole world, our story takes place almost entirely in the area. The resurrections occur in a roughly 30 mile circle around the Wausau area, an area that in now under strict quarantine." --------------------------------------- Closer to Walking Dead or Crossed? Tim: "REVIVAL isn't actually much like either. It's not a "survivalist" story like TWD or CROSSED. It's a rural crime story with supernatural elements. The dead in ours aren't zombies, per se." --------------------------------------- End comment from Tim: REVIVAL ships tomorrow, JULY 11th. So, I'm back for comments, questions, and complaints after you've read it! Post SPOILER on any question that'll ruin the fun for late comers! TIM! Edit2: and because I am an Englander http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wausau,_Wisconsin
  6. yeah figures... I change my search criteria a lot (probably mentioned before if to only to test my own key words). the really bad bit is using the word artwork but not the word art... . just wondered if it would help
  7. sometimes monkey poop... if you know which book i am referring to
  8. all were available on Splash for 100 dollars - the guy who bought them - Lorne - bought them with the intent of insta-flipping. - Lorne and I are friends - thats how I know about the pages, . Funny that once someone puts it on ebay, it immediately becomes more valuable or more attractive. Hey Jerry, I have still been watching his auctions... do you speak to Lorne at all at the moment? The listings are still horrible and won't even appear due to the key words he has put in. If you search for "original art" or "the walking dead" then you won't even find them I've seen plenty of other bayers make the mistake of dropping "the" from their listings. He needs to cancel them as a mistake in the listing and re-list. It's worth more than the price of the listing to him. Just saying.
  9. 100 sold at SDCC and the first 14 of 101 were done by then... the rest will ship with 102. Edit: and it's going to feel like a long wait now for the next two issues... I honestly expected Rick's spirit to fade away already after the last page of 98 and the whole of 100. The cover of 103 has me biting my nails, will he finally be broken or worse? Surely there's only so many times that Andrea can cover his from the bad guys
  10. Just skimmed 101 this morning and some of the art in it is really disappointing. What happened to the zombies (again)? Still loving the story though /sigh
  11. not seen any in the UK... the collector/fan in me has to say I like this one the gimmick is very ott, just enought to tip it over to being appealing. I honestly hadn't expected to feel that way about yet another variant, doesn't feel old hat or you know "been there done that" even after pulling the same stunt so many times that it's absurd. pretty clever Kirkman & co it's going to get a lot of people wondering if they should roll the dice now because it's going to suck a lot of people in; my brain just tells me that the price I saw linked is still relatively close to an OA page... and as a fan I would get more enjoyment out of that.
  12. Again, not something that can be repeated. Some of the advice in this thread and on the boards in general simply can't be repeated. Buying any amount of revival as a one off and rolling the dice no biggie. Repeating the pattern described leads to nothing but a pile of long boxes and a big dent in the wallet. It's not the safe way or the easy way. So many talk of buying low and selling high. That does not mean buy at the lowest possible and hold out hope it hits the highest ever seen. It also doesn't mean you can't buy low, sell high repeatedly at various investment points. If you paid cover for the comic and got it graded immediately then you bought low. If you choose to hold then you are refusing to sell high. This makes perfect sense... arguing acceptable loss is like saying it doesn't matter if I am a bad poker player because I might be lucky with my hole cards and flops, and losing 30 bucks a month doesn't really matter to me. statistics show the sharks will always come out on top over time. I'm not saying that poker or comic speculation are perfect sciences but then neither are both of you guys... but I can see a parallel. What you guys need is a fantasy comic speculation league. Like fantasy football but you get say $175 to spend on comics for an alotted amount of time (say 6 months). Data from the ebay market watch is collected each week based on the titles bought giving you a buy / sell price. Cover price is only available for maybe the first week of release. Flat rate to CGC. No SS. Only allow new titles. If your title does not appear in the data after 4 weeks loses half its value but you could sit on it until it does. It's porbably a little too complex to run, a huge time suck and there may not be many takers. ...were that not the case it would make for an interesting charity auction idea for the right fee Branget
  13. closely related to the seamhorse
  14. well... it's not quite sold out, there are still a few places offering it. the 2nd print just became available. nobody knows if it will be good or great yet only time will tell.
  15. *ouch* sorry to see that Well can't wait for the next few issues to see where this story is going and to actually have something to talk about other than the speculation. These boards make the waits seem so much longer. On the speculation front from what I recall Cover B is at about 1500 (?) and the 3rd eye cover is at 1000. I still think I'd rate Cover B as the one to get. Looking at how say TWD #85 Infinity variant is doing after all this time, it doesn't seem that there is a global interest in store variants. Most of those #85's are signed too as Adlard is a friend of the store. The difference seems to be with sketch variants that hold another level of prestige; so a store sketch variant would probably do better. Just a thought. Edit: or does an #1 change the perspective slightly?
  16. I agree. If people have enough to throw in right now then why not? If you can shift 25-30% of what you have to break even on your outlay then there is no more gambling. I wouldn't consider it a loss if the book continues to rise... everything else is just profit on top.
  17. Ebay may heat up a bit more now ...looks like they are drying up in the UK. Megacitycomics are limiting to 1 per customer so no point in putting in any more orders. Noticed that quite a lot of places didn't even stock it in the first place when originally looking for the best deals, don't know if that was the case in the US. *sits back and waits for the late comers* "What do you mean they have sold out???"
  18. all were available on Splash for 100 dollars - the guy who bought them - Lorne - bought them with the intent of insta-flipping. - Lorne and I are friends - thats how I know about the pages, . Funny that once someone puts it on ebay, it immediately becomes more valuable or more attractive. Well good luck to him. I would have definitely worked a bit more on the presentation, put them up for longer and listed them in 3-4 areas outside of the UK as well. Jpegbay is easy for hosting free large images in auctions. No need to panic if they don't all sell. BIN is your friend (TWD and TWD OA has done done me a favour, it's reignited my passion for comics. *continues to lurk the Bat boards*)
  19. Speaking of OA on sale has anyone else noticed Ebay UK (can't say I have searched the OA boards to see if it was advertised) Lots of pages... There is some nice artwork in there on a couple of pages... but I am left feeling not quite luke warm about a lot of what is on offer (and what is on Splash now). Will be interesting to see how this auction fares as they are starting roughly at cost if we assume they were all shipped together. Granted there will always be hot/key pages that will immediately stand out but speculation on just about anything going has got to be long term surely? I can't begin to compare TWD pages with the stuff I used to read in my childhood / teens because I cherish those memories from a simpler time. TWD will probably be the same for the next generations of fans to come when they stop being readers and start collecting but that will take a while.
  20. Would make more sense if it was 6 and the 60 is a typo
  21. spoilers are loose now... best not to check forums from here on in if you don't want to know
  22. what would be nice if there was a hidden foreshadowing across all variants ... buried in the art
  23. nice. granted my page from issue #13 is boring, but it's definitely worth more than the $35 i paid. I disagree on the steal - I had him offer me the pages at 300 pounds each off ebay about a week ago - I turned it down. The price was in my opinion above fair market - splashpage prices have gotten to the point of insanity - my plan for now is to wait --- 3-5 years from now you will have people begging you to take their WD pages at prices much much less than now. I would have snapped his hand off! I actually sent a message to him offering £300 for either page and he never got back to me I'm still yet to own an original art page and would have loved to start off with a zombie page. ditto... said "Serious offer for buy it now" guess there were too many offers / watchers for him to not let it run. i have my doubts about the early pages losing value
  24. @Jerry S ouch... i would have had one. looking for a good zombie page if anyone has one
