Care to share what pages and which website?  I ask as I have been looking at the art I purchased from Cadence for months and several pieces I didn't - those did not go up in price.  The covers from Rafael Albuquerque, Delcan Shalvey, Ryan Stegman, and AAron Kuder haven't move in price except to go down due to the discounts applied to them.

Hold on I just check my paypal history since I bought one of the pieces that was the same price, and confused it with something else. My bad.

  2. Interesting, I noticed that some of the pieces I had my eye on had their prices raised, before being discounted, along with those that had already been on sale where it would of been cheaper to buy them at their original price with the sale , then now even with the new discount applied. And this was only around a month ago.

What book on eBay that's the least bit worthwhile isn't absurdly priced?

Have you thought about making a WTB post? If you're willing to offer FMV according to GPA, or even a little bit over like your post suggest, I would think you should have some people contact you.

You also could go the route of looking at current, and upcoming auctions that aren't just on ebay,

    This page alone

    maybe 1 per month....

    but not a lot lol

I would assume it's found its way into most collections as a keeper, I wonder who is paying these prices now? I get buying a 9.8, but I guess I'm towards the minority that can be satisfied with lower grades. Lowest I'd go on this book is my lowly 8.0, but still want to upgrade, I can hope :wishluck:that prices come down a bit :)

I feel kind of odd actually being the one who started this thread, since I sold my copy a few months back. It was only a 7.0, but it felt weird letting it go. I was able to make a profit though from when I bought it on Ebay years ago so not all bad.

Economic collapse of the OA market confirmed

    sell_400x400.jpg

Is anybody else waiting for this collapse to occur so they can buy a few pieces on the cheap that they couldn't afford before?

On a more serious not, does anybody remember if the comic art market experienced a collapse in the 90's during the same time as the comic market did? Were they considered distinct markets back then, where the flippers, and speculators that contributed to the comic crash also spread to OA? I've seen some people here talk about the dramatic price increases OA has experience in the last decade which makes me wonder how many have joined it's ranked only to flip it later on, where as back then OA didn't bring as much in a short hold time, as speculating on comics did.

I'd rather have it quick and painful instead of slow and painful.... It was very difficult, a lot of times I was going to back out. I even thought about pulling the plug today. The inner battle can be the most painful of all.

This, you're a stronger man, than a lot of us here, if you can resist. Many of us have lost that battle plenty of times.

For gory flamethrower covers though it's War #11 and War Fury #1:

I never noticed it before, but it looks like Heck swiped himself, and used the same  image of the dead GI's head for the now considered classic cover to the horror comic Horrific #3 which came out the same year. This makes it a nice companion comic to have along with it.

    To clarify.

I am not trying to compare the Zelda,Metroid and Mega Man NES games with rare holy grails like Action 1 and Tec 27.

Think of the comparing Zelda,Metroid and Mega Man NES games to AF#15 and Incredible Hulk #181.

An example is a AF #15 CGC 2.0 could have been had 10 years ago about 2 grand now it is at least 12 grand!

A  Incredible Hulk #181 CGC 9.0 could have been had 10 years ago for under a grand, now good luck finding one at that price.

I see the same pattern for the Nintendo three video games of Zelda,Metroid and Mega Man will all at least double in value this next decade.

The three franchises are iconic just Spider-Man, Iron Man and Wolverine.

Nintendo 1985 to 1996 was the Marvel Comics 1961 to 1975.

Japan is a goldmine for this. Many people that live their buy the stuff locally at specialized stores, and sell it marked up internationally.

My deep apology. I implored myself.  You said many activists like alt left and antifa?  I think V does both real politics and productions.

While the term alt-left its used many in the alt-right actually call them ctrl-left fro clarification

Yes, as well as Anonymous of course

It's really hard to call Anonymous a group since anybody can join, and of course be anonymous. They never had any real unification, with isolated groups doing things in their name. It's also important to point out that anonymous was started on the image board of 4chan, which many consider to be right-wing, and has been labelled a hate website for Nazi's, and such. It's also where the Pepe the frog meme was created, and evolved. This is because people for the most part don't know that other boards  besides /b/ (trolls, and images to offend), and /pol/ (the one that has been on the news) exist on there.

The problem with this stuff is that MSM has never been good with internet culture, either as knowing what it is, or explaining it. This is why trolls on 4chan have been able to get things such as milk, the piece sign, and that purple dove labelled as hate symbols by the media, and largely leftest figures. Even when the left claimed Pepe the frog memes as a hate symbol, they didn't realize that it was just a template, and that you could use the character anyway you wanted including pro-left memes which I've seen. But again since the MSM, and many politicians, and "experts" don't actually know how website cultures work like with 4chan, which started as an anime image board, and still is mainly, they get the average person to believe them starting a lot of these problems.

As for your Guy Fawkes mask, I would say that while it did become a symbol for protesting it has since died down to a large extent. Maybe back during the occupy days, but not much now, since I see a lot smaller numbers of them in protest with a negative connection to the mask now which many believe to be cringe. This is again do to internet culture. For your main point though I would say yes the movie is what got it into peoples mind since I don't think many knew who, Guy Fawkes was, or the story about the mask creation.

  10. I was really sad a few months back when I went after a restored copy, bidding the highest I had ever on a book (5 figures) and still missed out. The price going for more than the person I talked to about it thought it would for the grade, and issues. I also sold off a part of my collection to pay for it which really sucks.

I'm hoping prices drop-off down the line, not to resell, but because I really want to own one in decent condition. I can't bring myself to spend a lot of money on something so torn, and beaten up for what I could get at the same, or cheaper price.

  11. Hi all,

decided to update this again since I lost out in Heritage, and wanted to see if anybody refilling their wallets might have anything of interest to me. I've also gotten some leads, and would like to thank @Panelfan1 for that.

I've also updated the list above with more things I would like to acquire including specific pages with pictures of them attached. This is in hopes that if I include the more things that interest me the greater the chances something should get caught in my net.

As always if you have any of the things I like please PM so we might be able to workout a deal.

    Thanks.

It's a really well-drawn page from the part of the run where his art was really starting to get very good.  Content-wise, it's part of one of the more memorable storylines in the run, but, nothing to really justify a price like this.  Guess two people just really liked it.

The consignor must be happy for sure.

I offered you something, but I never heard anything from you. (shrug)

I did respond to you. (shrug)

You offered me story pages from a book, not a pin-up which I specify above as what I'm interested in. I responded to you through PM saying thanks, and that if I had any interest in those pages I would let you know.

  14. Probably. Though I don't have any experience myself, I could see a person owning a page or two of a book someone else is trying to complete, and not selling it simply because they want to keep the pages fro themselves.

Another scenario which I'm sure has happened a few times is when a collector is known to be trying to assemble a book others might go against him to get pages so they can sell it to him at a high price, or as trade bait for something they want that the collector might otherwise not sell.
