Another weekend, another yard sale. Paid $70 after a little negotiation for this small stack of books. The guy kept bringing out his old boxes. I found the Sally Forth in between other adult comics sandwiched inside a porno mags box

The teenage nostalgia those Gen13 covers stir  :cloud9:. No matter how many copies I have, I always hang on to the mini-series and #1 variant issues when I find them in collections. It's recently spilled into a second short box.

Yeah, this Estate Sale guy knows comics, but he's also usually willing to negotiate a bit.

I'd say my Estate Sale was a success if I got $4100 for a single item like a comic book.  I didn't get a look at the book, but it was raw of course and probably fully valued and maybe overvalued.

100%, pretty big risk paying that much under duress and in a rush. $4100 seems like a pretty specific price too, so I'm guessing at best he paid retail. I hope there's no inconspicuous color touch, etc...

  3. Have you looked at the census numbers to help you decide? There are a TON more ASM 361's than Hulk 340's and ASM316's. If it were my money and my situation, I'd go Hulk 340 every single day. There's fewer graded, it's a less popular title than ASM, so my brain equates that to less supply (both graded and raw). It's an iconic McFarlane cover but it's also really simple and clearly digestible. I look at 361 and to me it seems too busy; it takes a few seconds for my brain to get oriented and figure out what I'm looking at.

Exactly. And the guy who knew nothing about comic books was so nice when we chatted. Facebook saw Detroit or whatever, hood, African American guy in his late20's/30s ish with old comic books and the replies followed. I messaged him, we had a good chat per say, and everything fell in place. I even helped him get Paypal verified, verified receipt of shipment so his money was released by Paypal and then i bought everything else he still had....duplicates of the 47,48,57,54,55 ect ect ... its funny how a little chat, human interaction, with someone so far away, judged by others, turned out good for everyone...and NO i didnt pay $5 a book!!! He got plenty of funds...$1000's of dollars

Better hope the 1099K thread posters don't spill over and see this; they'll complain how you've harmed this guy and his situation by making him get a 1099K next year...(:
