  1. yep I was fast on the trigger. I generally go for the lower grade Bakers - but this one with a double cover seemed like the time to splurge. I couldn't find any previous listings of it anywhere - so I figured it wouldn’t last a day on the Bay I'll likely be offering it for trade in December once I better organize my books (and I'm still getting used to the new layout of the boards after being away from it for a year)
  2. Weird Tales of the Future #5 --- I'll take it please (and happy to pay extra shipping to Canada)
  3. I'll take: DARLING ROMANCE 1...................................3.0+...............................................OW...........................................$ 30 looks like the cover model is Kevin Daley - who had this haircut a year before Bettie Page
  4. wonderful - congrats to buyer and seller - please add me to your spreadsheet for when you upgrade this baby
  5. a great example of the wonderful spirit of these boards to offer this here like this. I'm pleased to already have a copy of this in my collection.
  6. uggg.... I feel for you - glad it's sounding better than I feared when reading the first page. the rains here have been torrential here in Toronto. I live a block up from Lake Ontario and the water has been at the top of the 6ft high break wall all summer.
  7. I've had a lot of look finding pages... but the search continues: I need centrefolds for spirit 22 fight against crime 20 Happy collecting
  8. Atomic1950s is an enthusiastic new Golden Age collector. I've enjoyed many back and forth PMs. He purchased a Jetta book from my thread. So clearly he has good taste for all things atomic! Very fast payment. Very good communication.
  9. I would take the GCE 12 over the CL 25 any day... but maybe that's just me... I've only recently started to appreciate the CL 25 for how good it is... but it does seem to be more common or is that just my limited experience?
  10. Great accomplishment Hap Hazard. Your completist ability contrasts with your user name. Nice to see the group shots. Maybe a future one with full covers?
  11. Toronto is having it's 20th Annual Pulp show A small but terrific show featuring a variety of pulp and pulp related items. 25 dealers’ tables crammed with vintage pulp, pulp reprints, vintage paperbacks and posters as well as other ephemera. Plus a half-hour pulp magazine cover slide show. A great time for both serious pulp collectors as well as the casually interested. Lots of great stuff to see! Only $3! Tickets available at the door, kids under 10 admitted free with adult. WHEN Saturday May 7, 2016 10am to 4pm WHERE The Lillian H. Smith Branch of the Toronto Public Library 239 College Street, Toronto, ON Canada Lower Level (just east of Spadina) I'll be there if any bordies are interested for a post show beer, let me know, first beer is on me. Patrick
  12. Here are my favourite pages from a recent purchase... original colour guide to Modern Love 8. I'm not in collecting mode, but couldn't pass it up. When I do restart collecting, these original colour guides will be high on my list. The colours are soooooooo bright on these... hard to believe they are 66 years old. And even though Marie colored outside the lines on occasion, it sure beats the imperfect register of printing technology of the books - as can be seen in the comparison scan of my book. Also her ability to be far more subtle in the guide then the printer was with the colour masking makes these real a treat. enjoy Who has scans of their color guides to share?
  13. I'd guess the CL 26 goes for $223... my bid would be $222 and I usually get out bid, but alas I'm in Canada and can not bid. .... this was one of the favourite covers I was really thinking about making the "buy it now" when there was a 5.0 on ebay for a long time last year... if only last years prices were still relevant...
  14. Well... that's a very solid representation of 24 beautiful books... even though I'm in selling mode more than buying... I will be bidding up a number of these books. good luck with the sale.
  15. Congrats on the great pick ups! I'm pretty sure somewhere in the Baker Romance thread is a link to an Excel file of all of the comics with Baker art... I too hope to collect as many of the Romance covers as I can. I do have a few doubles and would always be happy to trade with other Baker collectors.
  16. Beautiful books on the last few pages. Great job hunting down these relatively high grades... Hopefully, some of the undercopies will become available.
  17. drool.... wow all those Giant 12's..... what do I have to trade to get one of those, seems like I've only seen 1 for sale in 2 years, and thought about it way too long - days - and missed out.
  18. yes it does look baker-ish -- too mostly in the composition with a nice foreground, midground and background. I feel his illustrations often take advantage of this dept of field to help tell a story in a single image. I have one or two issues, maybe I should reread them and see if its' worth putting the title back on my future want list.... after a long list of other romance books of course.
  19. Agreed this is one of my favourites as well - articulates beyond the typical storyline - and age range - and was far ahead of its time. Is there a list that indicates who the writer is on this one? - and of course... very nice copy.
  20. Wonderful wonderful work, and yet another item to add to my list of grails. In the meantime I'll consider some of the illustrations from the Walrus. Ryan's site is worth spending some time on. www.ryanheshka.com - Ryan good luck with the show in March.
  21. I have a coverless Walt Disney Comics and Stories 5 I picked up in the dollar bin at my LCS if you have a cover I'm happy to donate it - shipping on you. And I am looking for a centrefold for WDCS 4 for my beat and incomplete copy.
