  1. It ended up selling for $643 including shipping. :)

I was thinking about bidding on this book, but don't want a copy with David Peterson's signature on the front cover unless it's an actual SS book.

Also, the signature didn't look like the "real deal" to me. Not to say it wasn't, just to me. Mostly all of the David Peterson sigs I've seen has the (-) in the front of it just to point out one anomaly. hm

I'm still in the hunt for a copy though! (thumbs u

  2. I've been lobbying for quite some time now to have a Red Sonja commission done later this year by artist Gerald Brom. :wishluck: It will be spectacular when it is done, based on his style & my conceptual idea! :headbang:

I can't wait to see that!

    lol Me too!

  3. Made a big plunge and picked this Red Sonja piece up. It's a huge painting (23x30") by Gonzalo Mayo (of Warren-era Vampirella books), and features all the things I love: hot women, monsters, skulls and big swords, all culminating in a wonderful 1980's look. Trying to find out more history on the painting - I'm not sure if it was published or a commission, but it was definitely done in the 80's.

Consequently, I finished my 30¢ variant Marvel Feature books this week, now onto the 35¢ Red Sonjas!

Very nice painting! (thumbs u What medium is it in? hm

Acrylics on paper. I think that's how it ended up getting so beat on the sides.

  4. A recent pick up from Heritage. Nice copy, but unfortunately has the light tan/cream pages so common to old undergrounds. I resisted buying a copy for years due to the price, but finally succumbed. It was still cheaper than the copy that's been on ebay forever.* Interesting, as the strips are mostly two pagers that loosely (sometimes very loosely) tie in to a plug for a specific book or record promoted in the last panel. I've always wondered if this was actually distributed to any degree, it was designed as a free promotional comic for books and records distributed by record producer Alan Douglas, but seems rather scarce and the copies that do surface tend to lack the wear and tear of the average 1972 underground.

    * in the comics section of ebay - though I just realized there is another copy in magazine back issues for less than I paid, in about the same condition ( if anyone is interested). Note to self: expand ebay search function to all categories when looking for esoteric publications.

Very nice sketches, especially the 2nd one! :applause:

  7. The General forum has a new in your collection this week thread that is active, but gets little activity and even less comments on silver age books when they are posted. The 10 cent thread runs in fits and has a limited scope. Other threads in this forum come and go. The golden age thread has a ongoing "Have a Cigar" thread, how about we do a what's new in your collection thread focusing on silver age stuff? Would love to see more regular action in this forum.

Here are my new SA additions for this week fresh from the Comic Link May Featured Auction! (thumbs u

  8. Hello All,

I didn't even know this thread existed until today! :applause: Had I known I would have been posted my commissions! doh!

I see some very nice commissioned artwork here and would like to show the few I have with several more to come! Stay tuned! :headbang:

Those are all really great pieces. Most commissions nowadays have really been just sketches or single character pieces or something without backgrounds.

It is refreshing to still be seeing fully-rendered cover-quality commissions like the ones you have just posted. Those are truly awesome! Wow!

Thanks my friend! (thumbs u When you have a conceptual idea of what have in mind and an Artist that is open-minded enough to accommodate you, I have to go all in! :headbang:

I have about 4 more that I have to get done and then I will be through with personal commissions. I have one pending by Jay Anacleto and another by Gennadiy Koufay due this week. Then I am hoping to get Gerald Brom to do one later this year and lastly, Boris Vallejo & Julie Bell for 2015! :cloud9:

They will all be timeless treasures to say the least! ;)
