As a non-statistician (with the community college degree to prove it ) what would it take to move 86% one way or the other?

Not liking the animation style on this, especially the characters. I prefer the style of the previous SAC / 2nd Gig series.

As I’ve stated here before, The Last Jedi gave fans no reason to see the next movie other than it’s another Star Wars movie. When Last Jedi was over, all of our questions regarding Rey, Snoke, and Luke were answered. LJ gave fans nothing to look forward to other than a close to the whole First Order thing.
When Empire Strikes Back ended, we were left with the cliffhanger of Han encased in carbonate and our gang already plotting to save him. That was a heck of a cliffhanger to get us excited about the next movie, including “who was the other?” and, oh yeah, that whole Darth Vader/Empire thing. Unlike ESB and Force Awakens, Last Jedi left fans with no incredible cliffhanger. In fact, Last Jedi probably could have ended the “trilogy” there and nobody would have cared.Fan were divided on the new trilogy because of LJ. A lot of Star Wars fans I personally know just refuse to see Rise of Skywalker because Last Jedi ruined the story for them. “I’ll wait for it on Disney+” is the majority response. Add to that a legion of critics hell bent on trashing Rise of Skywalker because it didn’t follow up on LJ’s “brilliant” deconstruction of Star Wars. With all that going against Skywalker, I’d say passing a billion should be commended.
That's basically been my sentiment. After TLJ, I became pretty disillusioned with Star Wars as a whole and had really little interest in this last movie. I'll see it eventually on Disney+/cable/whenever the blu-ray goes on sale on amazon, but I've no interest in going out to see it in the theater.

It certainly appears as though there will be a living, breathing, Emperor.
I have no idea how. I'm just hoping that, if so, it makes a lick of sense. Mary Poppins Leia didn't make any sense.

If his plan is to escape I don't see how firing one dead body after another into the sky can possibly help. What's he looking for with the telescope? Any theories? Has he been slightly adjusting the trajectories of the launch angles?
I think he was looking for the boundary of the bubble (for lack of a better term) that he's in. He shot them into the air and then watched to see where in the sky they disappeared (going from inside to outside the bubble).

What'd they do, change the color? I'm not seeing a difference.

How has his character developed at all? How is he different now than he was at the beginning of the first movie?
So far, his only purpose has been to motivate the actions of other characters. Luke to go play Hermit; Rey to find Luke and get Jedi training; Han and Leia to come back together.
He hasn't grown noticeably stronger in the force. He hasn't become a better fighter. He hasn't become a better leader. He hasn't learned to control his outbursts or channel his anger and hate into something useful.

This seems like Kylo Ren's trilogy and he does have character development.
I'm going to need some help in seeing this. So far he's gone from being a whiny, angsty, pretty useless character to . . . less whiny?
Instead of Kylo Ren, he should have renamed himself Mac Guffin.

For those of us in Canada

Bell Media bolsters Crave's streaming library under new deal with HBO Max
TORONTO - As the battle for TV viewers intensifies, Bell Media says it has struck an agreement for the exclusive Canadian rights of original series made for the upcoming U.S. streaming platform HBO Max.
The pact with Warner Bros., announced Wednesday, will secure a fresh selection of programming to help fortify Bell's Crave streaming brand in an increasingly crowded market when Apple TV Plus and Disney Plus arrive in November.
The deal also confirms that HBO Max isn't headed to Canada as a stand-alone option when it launches stateside next May, a move that would have thrown another streaming competitor into the ring.
Instead, Bell Media president Randy Lennox said TV shows produced by Warner for HBO Max will mostly land on Crave's premium HBO tier, which costs roughly $20 per month. HBO Max will cost $14.99 per month in the United States.
For Canadians, the Crave subscription price won't be raised as part of the new agreement, Lennox added.
We wanted to simplify this convoluted world of so many offerings,” Lennox said in an interview with The Canadian Press.
“Disney Plus, Netflix and Amazon are inarguably ubiquitous goliaths - but when you add all this content ... to the already substantial Crave offering, I really do believe we compete on the world stage.”
Upcoming titles in the HBO Max deal, which takes effect next year, include a spinoff of “Gossip Girl,” DC Comics series “Green Lantern,” and “Dune: The Sisterhood,” a project from Quebec director Denis Villeneuve that's set in the universe of Frank Herbert's “Dune” novels.
But not everything on HBO Max will be mirrored in Canada. The agreement only covers output from Warner's television production operations.
That means certain TV shows produced by other companies will be excluded, among them Sony's update to the cult animated series “The Boondocks,” and “Sesame Street,” which has a U.S. deal with HBO Max for both past and upcoming seasons.
Wildly popular 1990s sitcom “Friends” was confirmed to be leaving Netflix for the HBO Max service in the United States, but won't be making that same leap in Canada. And Japanese animated films made by Studio Ghibli, including Oscar winner “Spirited Away,” aren't part of the deal either.
Lennox said the selection available through Crave's HBO package more than compensates for the missing programs.
if HBO Max isn't headed to Canada, what's the point of excluding content from the deal? Is it a money thing?

Clones are just bodies. Don't think they automatically can control the Force in the same manner just because their genetic parent can/does.
Well, if you believe in that whole "midichlorians" concept, could the child inherit that from the parent?

I'd add Snoke, Captain Phasma, and the entire First Order to that as well.
In my opinion, this is one of the biggest problems with the new trilogy. A great hero needs an equally great villain in order to make a great story. The hero, typically outmatched in his initial encounter with the villain, is put in the position of the underdog that has to overcome incredible odds in order to achieve victory, etc, etc.
When has Rey ever seemed outmatched or overwhelmed against Kylo Ren?
What have any of them (villains) ever done to generate a sense of concern in the audience for the heroes' safety? To compare:
Darth Vader was in control and acted - Kylo Ren is not in control and reacts
Anakin saw his mom die & had a premonition of his wife dying which led him to be manipulated by and turned to the dark side by Palpatine - Kylo Ren had Snoke dreams (maybe)
Anakin fights a dramatic battle against Kenobi, the result of which leaves him broken (body, mind, spirit) completing his turn to the dark side - Luke goes to kill Kylo in his sleep and wakes him up
Grand Moff Tarkin blew up Alderaan in front of Leia - Galactic DC gets blown up from a gazillion miles away by I-can't-remember-who (and no one seems to care that much)
Emperor Palpatine had a presence and strength even though his body appeared old and weak - Snoke had . . . a red room?
Vader and Luke trade hand amputations - Kylo and the First Order get fooled by a Luke Hologram
Darth Vader, Force Choke - Kylo Ren, tempertantrum
and so on and so forth.

The war is getting financially serious now.
I wouldn't read too much into this.
Of all the services out there now (and the ones still to come) which one has the highest probability of blowing through a plan's data caps because Little Susie wants to watch Frozen for the eleventy-millionth time?
Verizon will more than make up the cost of the service (discounted, I'm sure) with people upgrading their plans. -

They showed the trailer during one of the games yesterday (I think it was Bucs/Panters in London) and it didn't look that bad.
