  1. Well, it can only be a clearinghouse if the item sells, right? I'm always very tempted to post a WTF in the thread, but thankfully have been able to restrain myself from doing so. I also refrain from posting in dead sales threads where the seller seems clueless why their highly overpriced/overgraded items aren't moving. If it were me, I'd want to know about it....a PM would be perfectly acceptable to me. However, I get the distinct impression that not everyone is the same in this regard. That's for sure . . .
  2. Well it is, and it has been. Thread-krapping is considered verbotten by all seasoned Boardies. But when it's so obvious, and some poor schmuck hits the BIN, does the community-at-large have a role?
  3. So what do you do when someone posts a book for sale that's both pathetically overgraded and overpriced? Do you just let the market take care of itself? hm Or do you post a "Great book / nice price" comment in their thread? Seriously, whose fault is it that they severely overpaid for the book in the first place? And should the forum be a clearinghouse for krappy purchases? Who protects the little guy? Inquiring minds want to know . . .
  4. It's been a case-by-case review for a while now. Any objections to the foregoing addition? I didn't see any in the discussion thread, nor did I see the offending party's response.
  5. Can you explain over-saturate please? Sure - You can adjust the color settings on your scanner to increase the saturation levels. This makes the red and blues much richer to the point of "popping out". The reds may even cause slight damage to your retinas
  6. The tendency of sellers here to over-saturate their scans in a effort to make their books look that much better is getting WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY out of hand! You know who you are, so stop it before I start namimg names

  8. I agree! I agree too that it doesn't belong with the GA/SA and should "get lost" somewhere else A GA/SA sales forum and Bronze/Copper/Modern sales forum split seems much more natural but that would be a lot of surgical work for Arch and would require heaps of tribute. No, it wouldn't, no more than last time. I don't want to see it mixed in with the Copper/Modern drek - It deserves its own Sub-Forum. The reason the sub-forums work is that each "specialist" can go where he wants to buy and sell. Face it, those GA and SA fuddy-duddies (for the most part) don't give a rip about BA, nor do the MA "kids".
  9. And this would tell you what? There should be no stigma whatsoever in requesting a scan of the BC I think he was kidding... Thank you, I'll be here the whole week! Dan How's the veal? -Dan Not so good, I can still see the mark where the jockey was hitting it . . .
  10. And this would tell you what? There should be no stigma whatsoever in requesting a scan of the BC
  11. I think its an important piece of information that is irrevocably lost and that is sad. If this place wanted to be a regarded as a serious selling forum that affects market pricing it should be known. It would be nice if it was recorded here in a searchable database, both raw and third party graded, available for both browsing and for GPA to record if they want. I would prefer to know the final selling price and NOT necessarily the buyer if he/she wants to hide that so it shouldn't be a big issue with the buyer Interesting. I like where you're going with this. I do wish GPA made use of sales data from these forums. So many graded comics change hands here every day, it'd boost their database in a wonderful way. Including the sales in these forums into GPA would really dirty up the data there... Think about it...a seller could easily go back and modify the amount in the sales thread (up or down) to manipulate the price (for whatever reason)...Also, there is no verification that the actual sale was completed. Neither is there on eBay to be honest. That's actually a very good point. Neither is there anywhere. It really is only a good faith approximation of the marketplace, but it is the best of the data pools available.
  12. Bronze Age should get its own For Sale Sub-Forum - It gets lost in the GA/SA Sub-Forum. Discuss?
  13. I agree with you completely, but the fact is that high-dollar books and production defects get treated less critically. I'm not saying it's correct, just making the observation.
  14. "Pre-chipping" is held in the light of production defects. Not a good example. He's described the tear as "1/2" long going to the edge of the cover".
  15. Glad this one's not in the grading contest . . . I'd have a hard time giving it a 6.0 never mind an 8.5
  16. I guess Comiclink needs to be spanked/policed as well then since they only accept PayPal in the "personal" form. Get on that Joe, CGC Actually, PayPal should just suspend CLink's account . . .
