  1. Sorry to hear that - Why don't those Dallas guys get their act together? I routinely send Priority packages around the world that get delivered in 7 days . . . or less. Are you internet shipping?
  2. I'd stop grinning, since a lot of people also thought the 30-day waiting period was unworkable for buyers, and I don't think anyone wanted an immediate lynching, but maybe something more like 10 days. After all, the only reason it's 30 days is to give the items time to be shipped and received. Actually, I'm all for lowering both to 10 days (US) 15 days (CA) 20 days (Int)
  3. That does it for me. I say add him immediately if he blew you off even after that warning. Add him now before he pulls more carp. Cancelling a buy because he is broke and then buying something else is all we need to know. Newbie question from the back of the room. Doesn't he(dehurley) have the opportunity to state his case before sentencing? Of course he does, which is why it works just the way it is, notwithstanding the comments from the peanut gallery. Outing in the probation discussion thread has shown to generally resolve most issues before the need arises to tar and feather the defaulting party.

Cancelling a buy because he is broke and then buying something else is all we need to know. Yes, but that's why this thread exists. He has 30 days to see the error of his ways. Killjoy. You bring the tar, I'll bring the feathers

  7. New topic: Seems like a lot of sellers are posting krappy photos these days, claiming not to have scanners . . .
  8. That makes no sense - PP personal payments don't have fees if they're coming from either a paypal balance or the bank account that's connected to your paypal account. Even regular paypal payments don't have a 1.5% fee - the minimum is 1.9% (and that's for payments over 100k, for payments below 3k, the fee is 2.9% + $0.30). Are you sure this isn't a currency conversion fee? I'm positive! I'll back you up there Mike. Everytime I pay using Personal, I get charged 1% of the total I'm sending, regardless of where the source funding is. Same for me. Someone is doing something wrong then . . .

Are you sure this isn't a currency conversion fee? I'm positive! Perhaps they are different types of accounts - aren't there two types? Yeah, there are still three different kinds of accounts (Personal, Premier & Business) - but the fees are the same for all of them: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_display-fees-outside There's the answer - They used to be different fee structures. Comicdonna says his wife sent a personal PP payment to someone and was charged the fee. When they introduced the option to send personal PP payments, they also introduced the equalized fee structure that I linked to above. Perhaps, then we're back to square 1. Are you sure about the bold part, or are you just guessing?

  12. Good idea, Arch. We will still have abusers, but that happens everywhere (you know who you are). I think it should also be an acceptable defense against a "probation list" claim. -d
  13. If you're paying a membership fee for access to the CGC Boards, then you're a Grade A sucker. Paypal Personal Please . . .
  14. I don't think it's a scam either, I think that Paypal has added that option to protect themselves from being regulated as a bank. However, when I see someone insist on Personal Paypal, I really do close the thread. I have used the personal option many times, IF I happen to have money in my paypal account and if I know the person, but I prefer that to be an option, I feel uncomfortable being coerced. I feel the same way with people who want 3% if you use Paypal. I've bought that way from C-link, but it's my option, and they are a business, they have bills associated with the sales to pay. In addition, my "protection" comes from my credit card company, and if I'm going to spend more than a few $$ on a book, I'd prefer that I have the OPTION of that protection. Let me give you an example Sharon, I submit books for individuals under my CGC account. If I submit $500 worth of books for someone and they pay me via paypal I now lose money. I am out the 3% or $15 per transaction. If I do this 20 times in a month I am now in the red $300. I always ask for a check. If they cannot pay with a check I ask for the additional 3% or if they decide to use the personal option it is fine. It has it's place, and I feel the main issue here is people abusing that place. If I sell a $500 comic I expect to eat the 3%. I personally am not taking any money out of my pocket, but when a service like submitting books is rendered I do expect the difference to be paid by the customer. No problem here Joe. It's your business - we don't expect you to lose money. Conduct it as you see fit. Consumers always have a choice wheteher to do business with someone or not. One of the problems in this marketplace is that the seller generally has the leverage over the buyer. It is not regulated in any real fashion. Terms of sale should be by agreement of both parties, not just the seller. What would happen if I started posting 's all over the place and then refused the transaction on the basis of terms brought up after the fact in PM's? It wouldn't be long before I was put on the Probation List

  17. Wow, I didn't notice that . . . Canadian variant? Are the inside covers blank? We'll never know.
  18. JC, It's much easier to simply post a link to a summary instead of making us read 5 pages of drivel to get to the point! -d

  20. Yep, except for some slight apparent damage to the LLFC, it looked pretty clean - especially for a black cover. We'll see. The thing about buying old magazines is you have no idea how or where they were stored.
  21. Just picked up a Stag Annual #3 - Will post scans when it arrives.
