Loony Toones did not just have wear at each corner, its freaking missing sizable pieces/chunks in 3 of the 4 corners! Rex shows a heck of a lot better than that book as its not missing sizable corner pieces in 3 of the 4 corners!  Some imaginary stain on the bottom of the front cover is not visible from the scan, perhaps from the interior cover, but we don't have that benefit.  I had those two grades flipped around and think the grades on those two books are literally loony tunes!  :pullhair:

Welcome to CGC and the Golden Age!

(Hey, they are freakin' old books - Older than me, I'd wager . . . ) :peace:

Well guess they're modern but pretty close to copper age. Pure meltdown on a few books I listed a couple weeks ago considering they were ASM 9.8s.

Not sure what that is in USD but probably 11 bucks and change each. Awesome ebay sales lol

Why oh why did you get these graded in the first place? hm And BTW, these are in the wrong thread  Nothing copper about those books.  :sumo:

I had it 6.0/6.5 initial grade and settled on 6.5 as well.  Obviously if I was able to discern the detached staple would've dropped to 5.5 maybe lower.  I mean clearly this book is a 6.5 without that defect.  I echo Hudson's question was anyone able to see that in some way?  Both staples are not visible on the back cover scan.

6.5??? No way, my friend  . . . I thought 5.0 (even before the notes) :gossip:

That's an arrival date (which is typically two months prior to the cover date).  Arrival dates and date stamps are not normally regarded as defects.  I know of no reputable dealer or experienced collector who would downgrade a 9.4/9.6 (or lower) book for an arrival date or date stamp.  :foryou:  But your comment is awesome, as it fosters learning (which is what these contests are really all about).  (thumbsu  (thumbsu

I had to actually point that out to CGC somewhere in the 2004-5 period on a Hulk 181 I had graded (back when you could do so while in-process). They had downgraded it .5 for "ink on cover" and I had to make the pitch that it was the received date in the store (as it clearly was) - it took a couple of calls IIRC. Came back as an 8.5 instead of an 8.0 (but could have easily gotten a 9.0). I bought it on the Boards from my good friend in AK (ComicKing?) He still regrets the sale, I bet.  Those were the days.
