I remember what Steve Borock said "always give the book the highest grade it deserves."
Indeed!

The significance of my point here has nothing to do with a CGC contest or just being a "sore loser". The point here is that because CGC badly mis graded this book some poor sap will probably pay hundreds of dollars for it when they could buy it in the same exact condition raw on EBAY for $25. Everyone seemingly going along with the grade like there's nothing wrong doesn't incentivize CGC to do a better job.
Your comments aren't going to "incentivise" CGC to do anything. CGC did not "badly mis grade[d]" the book. You have the severe disadvantage of grading a book from scans vs. grading it in hand, and yet for some reason you think your grade of 8.0 is correct. Scans can be tricky, and photos even worse. Good luck on the next round!

Are you asserting that the defects in my previous message don't exist?
Yes.

Does anyone care to weigh in on the Veronica # 28? I can see by the statistics that most people graded the book 9.4 - 9.6. I can accept that I am way off in my grade of 8.0 if anyone can justify why a book that appears to have a 1/2" corner crease top right BC, 1/4" corner crease bottom left BC as well as a handful of color breaking spine ticks could acheive such superior grades?
Are people saying that because these defects only slightly break color they aren't actually there?
Put away your electron microscope and just use your eyes . . .

Y'know, Veronica looked nice but not THAT nice. Her behind had some issues might have warranted harsher deductions
I beg your pardon . . . my behind is perfect!

Best to get these grades in and not overthink it. As usual always waffle between 2 .5 differential grades. Hoping I've picked the right ones...
Hey Tom,

Seriously, I won't generally post any book for sale on eBay for less than $24, as it isn't worth the effort, or I'd rather keep it. And that price goes up periodically and soon.

Problems with CGC grading a CLEANED and pressed book with a purple label. My thoughts.
I've read most of the foregoing posts, and just to toss my hat into the ring: I believe that any book determined to be obviously cleaned and pressed should be deemed restored and/or enhanced. Both preservation and presentation are arts unto themselves, and should be respected as such. If you can't confirm either without reasonable doubt, then set them free. -
What's in your "long term speculation" box?
Everything I own . . . and then some.

That is an excellent question.
I have been able to pick up certain telltale signs of chemical cleaning and water baths. I let my customers know my thoughts on the books and submit based on what they want to do going forward. Chemical and water baths are not that common, but I see where that will change based on YouTube trends.
What I am seeing more and more of is poor press jobs. This has to do with a lot of dealers now pressing their own books. I’m sure they hire someone out at $20 an hour just to squash books and it shows. Some of these books are not just poorly pressed, they are damaged beyond repair.
Joey's about the only person in Florida I trust.

Here's the chronological list from the Marvel database. It puts MA Annual first, with the release date given as 7 days earlier than AF 51.
(No offense)

Absolutely. Before the 90s, it was quite rare for a comic to miss its sale date.
But that's not what we're talking about here. Marvel released comics every week. There is no way all of their offerings for an entire month actually had the same date (as shown in the copyright filings).
Maybe the the point of the picture I posted earlier was missed.
Only a blind man would miss that. But that is not a fact. In fact, it's worse than that - it's a non-factual conclusion.
Still only 35c Marvel Comics
in Bronze Age Comic Books
