  1. I remember on the FCBD last year, a LCS given out these 1st print for FREE!!! And I actually bought 3 copies a few weeks ago in the $0.50 box at a local convention. Things change fast but I doubt "this" spider-man will be appear in any future movie, more like PP than MM.
  2. I am not argue who's wrong, who's right or which book is first appearance of CM. Just saying the market so far: AVSM9 beating out CM1 in sold price and more consistent. Market determines which appearance is more important even if they are wrong. CM #1, Sales of Single issue, not in combination of any other book, from Nov 1 to Nov 6: Nov 6 $22.99 Nov 4 $5 sold 28 copies Nov 3 $15 Nov 3 $3.29 Nov 2 $49.99 Nov 2 $1.29 AVSM9, Sales of single issue, not in combination of any other book: Nov 4 $34 Nov 4 $3.99 Nov 3 $34.99 Nov 3 $34.99 Nov 3 $23.70 Nov 2 $24 Nov 2 $23 Nov 2 $27.99 Nov 1 $23
  3. You agree that is crazy? if a graded version of the similar grade is selling around that price or a tad higher, what price do you think a raw copy should be? Doesn't seem like a good investment for a raw copy at this moment but what if the buyer expect the price to appreciate over time then the price is justifiable. Respectable sellers here use price guide to sell their raw copy at a little discount but comparable to graded version, I don't see anything wrong with the crazy raw price for these MM. I am neither buyer or seller of book in question.
  4. Still holding tight at 'Graded'… I called, asked to check on the status of an invoice, and got a hugh sigh from the CSR on the other end. Sounds like they're getting tired of all of us calling. I have a solution! My value submission sent around the same time as yours finally moved to QC today, hope the same happened for your submission. I am in the same boat. Graded for 4+ weeks. Economy and Value Tier are updated to 75 business days on CGC website now, still long way to shipped status.
  5. Modern prescreen regular Received 7/3 Shipped 10/6 Shipping info sent out at 9 pm EST, they are working late.
  6. LCS offer 50% off on this book, trying to promote good books, give it a try and so far so good
  7. Torpedo Comics was the company that was co owned by the drummer from System of a Down. They closed up shop, I am unsure as to who the current seller there is, but the name Torpedo Comics is probably not available any longer, and the new seller is trying to get sales due to their old reputation. Well the new seller does have over 2400 eBay feedback and a bunch of nice books. And they have a fairly decent Facebook presence so I suppose they're legit. No idea honestly. I suspect the new owner(s) would do shows in the NV and CA area...can someone verify that? I bought some from Torpedo Comics when they had a booth at Wondercon in Anaheim, high end books. They seems very familiar and friendly with Jim Lee when he stopped by the booth.
  8. Wow Thanks for this Info, I collect Double Covers and have to worry about this kind of thing allot so I really appreciate your post. Wonder if this Sellers Double Covers are all fakes as he has more and has sold allot of them already. I almost bought a few from him a while back but I had no luck communicating with him so I decided not to. Did you ever contact him and tell him they were fakes and ask for a refund and if you did, did you ever get any response? Contacted the seller and chose "item not as described" for the reason to contact (ebay filed claim automatically), 3 days pass now and no reply. My purchase was over 3 months ago so I doubt there will be any results. Seller sold many double covers from the past/currently and not sure how many buyers sent them in for grading. There aren't any feedbacks of similar situation left for the seller so I can't tell if my books are 1 time thing or all the Double Covers are fake. I haven't leave any feedback for the seller either, Neutral?
  9. My first nomination/warning: Seller - comicscimoc - based in Los Angeles, CA Bought 2 books advertised as Error double cover and found out today (from CGC) that they are Married/Apparent. Seller has many unusual title with Error double cover for sale which is odd; claimed that they are part of the collection purchased recently. For 2 books that I bought, surprised at first to see error double cover which I haven't seen for my entire time collecting the title. It is not just 1 book but multiple different issues on the title up for sale, randomly; took my chance and bought 2 to see how they are. Filed claim with Ebay for "item not as descript, fake/counterfeit" but doubt there will be anything done for it. This is just a warning for those that thinking of collecting "Error double cover", be careful. Still has many Error double cover for sale currently
  10. I'm one day behind you for a coupon submission. Hopefully yours ship this week Double My coupon shipped today, yours should be the same 4 Collectors Coupons - SA 5/16 - Received 6/4 - QC 6/5 - shipped Returned shipping is Priority overnight
  11. Little surprised with today grade, QC and shipped on the same day; not sure if it's because just 1 book and overnight return shipping have anything to do with it. Standard 15 business days, non-coupon 1 book: 5/13 Received 6/2 QC then Shipped Less than 15 business days? wish my other submissions are the same, nahhh!
  12. If you submitted books after PGM, post a warning and give 24 hrs for more comments/participation before reveal the actual grade or provide scans of the graded books if it is submitted for cosmetic work, big different from original scans. I like Guess my grade more than PGM threads, just to have a confirmation that how close are my guesses.
  13. I rather watching boring xmen, spiderman, avengers, wolverine, ca movies than sitting through series of twightlight, or high school musical. Before superheroes movies in full swing, ticket sale is declining rapidly with not many movies to look forward to. Now you can look forward to movies every summer and winter. Don't care if these movies are bad, good, or not true to the comic book stories, I watch them all. No such movies or tv series that can stay true 100% to books.
  14. my modern slow track prescreen from 4/3 is at Verified only so far. So 2-3 weeks behind the regular modern.
  15. Yep. It's gone from way overhyped to great story to picking up a few readers. I know the print run is going down but there seems to be more chatter about this book on other sites though a lot less than previous on this one excluding us diehards. Garf and a few others called it on this one. actually that's for 9.4..9.6 is $10+ ea....going to send a few in and see what happens. Let us know how they grade. I buy lots of stuff from them and when they say NM its NM but I've never purchased anything they've had advertised above NM You'll be surprised when they evaluate your NM and NM+ copies. If you are really send in, please update the results. My NM/NM+ never matched with their NM/NM+ on books over $5 (modern). Well then they're lowballing...I can almost guarantee I would get 9.8 from these at CGC...so if they go lower than a 9.6 then they have a problem. If they're that wacky when grading maybe i'll reconsider and just hang on to them. MCS does not lowball, they are just tight graders on Numeric graded books. If they buy something from you and grade it a 9.0, they sell it as a 9.0 you can even see the book hit their new in stock page a few weeks later if you watch hard enough.. CGC is what's changing. They have loosened up. A lot of the 9.8's today would be 9.6's and 9.4's or lower a decade ago. I dont see anything wrong with tight grading, other than if I can get more $ for my book elsewhere, then I will, as I suggest you do. Like Silverdream said, they graded majority of books that they are buying from you a few grades lower than what's your normal grade would be and sell it at that grade. It is great for buyers but suck for sellers. The bad side of this grading is that if your book graded lower and come out at $2.50 or something less than the "ideal NM+" grade that they are buying, you are already a few bucks off, will you ask for a return on your books that eventually cost you more than $4 (return shipping)? Basically you stuck with their pricing/grading and have to sell them at that grade/price. No doubt it is great for buyers but how many auctions ended for the price of the grade that they are given, it is always ended higher due to the "true grading" of the book.

  17. There are plenty of copies out there, close to 5000 copies graded and whole bunch of mint graded, don't think the movie news has a lot of effects on the price like other movie-comic issues. Just too many copies and it is modern.
  18. Modern Regular (6 books): 3/7/14 - Received 4/24 - Grading/QC 5/9 - Shipped 45 business days
  19. the point is a lot of the stuff included WOULDNT sell individually, so a raffle is a way to unload unwanted stuff by giving out chances at a good box (the "winner") thus it's a raffle. There are governing rules for real raffles, and CGC (who hosts these boards and this marketplace) doesnt want to deal with the redtape/scrutiny of hosting a site that supports raffles. The point of a mystery box thread is that a seller guarentees all of his stuff goes, and he also doesnt have to list everything individually, thus less overhead to get stuff sold, the cost of this benefit is the mystery boxes are sold at a lower price point/return to interest all buyers in giving up the option of choosing books for the return of getting "more for their money" Maybe you have 100 trades worth $10 each, and if you listed them all you would sell 50 of them for a total of $500. Lots of work, taking photos, listing 100 books, managing each sale, tracking, creating invoices, etc... Or you could have 10 mystery boxes that you sell for $60 each, guarenteeing that each box would be worth $100. You sell all 10 and make $600. You made more money, went thru all of your inventory and did it with very little effort (some group pictures, simple invoicing and making sure each box had enough books in it to equal the right value). Now in the first instance you maximized profit (which is a fine goal, and when thats your goal you do the 1st approach), but in the second instance you unloaded inventory, kept your efforts low and cleared space (also fine goals, and the way to make approach 2 work for everyone). The third way is the raffle. You have 100 trades worth $10 each and a $500 book that you werent able to sell for market price. You do 10 mystery boxes at $200 each, you make $2000 on $1500 of inventory. You have 9 people win $110 in trades and one "winner" win the $500 book. 1 guy comes out +$300 the other 9 come out down $90... but in any case the seller comes out ahead. Thats a raffle and that's what's not allowed. Thank you for taking the time thoroughly explaining the rules and scenarios, very informative. Didn’t know that it is forum rule, not allowing raffles type sale. Always something new to learn from this forum.
  20. If the seller make it $100 worth of stuff for each box then what's the point of include the grand price in it if he can sell it individually? And if that's the case then the seller come out as a lost on the grand price. People gamble and they lost, that's your choice. At least someone won the big price.
  21. Damn the spurs is the only team from top ten cities made it to 2nd round, shame on you top 10!.
