  1. My answer to the question asked in the topic title is No,Yes,Yes,Yes,Yes Allow me to explain ; I do not have the first piece I ever owned. I acquired and then sold it 5 years prior to my becoming an Original Comic Art collector. I still have the first page of Original Comic Art every gifted to me - Sal Buscema's back cover to Spider Super Stories #37. It was the later 90's and so still pretty cheap, like $40 or less I don't expect any more XMAS gifts of this type in modern times. The back cover was gifted to me prior to my becoming an Original Comic Art collector. I still have the first page I purchased that made me an Original Comic Art collector. Iron Man 120 for $49 on eBay I still have my first Splash page. JLA 207 I still have my first cover. Human Fly #19 by Bob Layton
  2. Received fast considering international. Comic was nice and professionally packed! Thanks!
  3. Ol' Sal's Bricks ain't looking that great., OR are they cinder blocks?
  4. Yep. In 234 was only in 2 panels as I recall he states call him "Quasar" - don't get why that commands extra scratch over #233. "Marvel Man" may have been a dopey name but Quasar back in 1979 was an old CRT TV set
  5. Ghosts #97 is favorite of mine as well. Is is it just me or does Dr. 13 look a lot like Commissioner Gordon.
  6. My Genuine Thanks! I have a vested interest in the cover and this is great news. I probably should have thought to do it myself years back
  7. Yes this injustice against Sienkiewicz needs attention! I too am not clear on where the wrong information was sourced, but CGC needs to fix - please I do of course have a vested interest 11 years and I've reached my 100th post
  8. I NO LONGER OWN this cover. I do miss it but received a "stupid offer" in trade a dozen years back.
  9. Great topic! I even have a sweatshirt with the Still Only 35 image. Here's one more another I acquired in trade 20 years ago. It was my First Hulk comic. Love the "Marvel's TV Sensation" blurb I believe this was only issue that did not display it in a circle. @Frisco Larson based on the Spidey thread and here we have similar interests with divergent collecting paths.
  10. @CGC Mike I second the motion. I do have a vested interest Cover of course is by Bill Sienkiewicz, his first, & Joe Rubenstein. You can contact Mr Sienkiewicz or Mr Rubenstein for verification. I do wonder the source for the bad info? Being smart enough to pull the trigger via massive trade on this cover back in '07 was the smartest collecting move I ever made. .
  11. Noticed this enjoyable topic was bumped. I may not own any of the Marvel Comics Group distributed Hanna-Barbera comics, but collecting the art from them over the years has been very fun. A favorite Laff page of mine. Love the comment under the Characters names; "Hokey Wolf" "Lamb Collector" Classic! Poor Cindy Bear
  12. One of my favorite art pages. The inside cover to #14. Since no Spidey and not a full splash I was told take it for $40 Original Art sure was a different game back in the fall of 2000.
  13. 2 pages from issue #1. Picked these up 23 years ago this month. Originally had 4 pages in total from #1, but sold 2 way back in in 2001. Sure wish I still had them, but very glad I passed on offers back then and kept these 2/
  14. World public premiere of page I purchased this month in the year 2000. Since not sure how welcome art is I'll stop here.
  15. This one did cost $60 since Spidey was on it. #20 p1 but technically p2 as interior cover was not an ad.
  16. Tossing my hat into the ring. 23 years ago Spidey Splashes sold for $60-$75 each. This one was marked $60. I still recall the dealer gazing upon me with a look of pity and said since no Spidey on it take it for $50. Imaging today getting a discount on a Marvel Splash without even asking for one. After the 1st Avengers film I framed the #39 splash and placed on my office wall.
  17. "World Premiere" of this Laff #4 page, I have a bunch from the issue.
  18. In surprisingly heavy bidding had to beat back the ol' time wolves on eBay for this cover about 17 years ago. As the item hammered higher than the seller expected they threw in a free Marvel Scooby Page. Marvel Hanna-Barbara in 9.6 & 9.8 may be rare but the Original Art Cover are hens tooth scarce. I've been collecting art since the late 90's and have only seen 4 in total, 1 of which was missing stats. Art by the Paul Norris co-creator of Aquaman. The Scoob page by Spiegal the kind seller added as a gift.
  19. Recent acquisition, Laff page with Elroy Jetson. Noticing this may be situation where Original 1-of-A-Kind Comic Art may cost less than the comic book in high grade If Art is not welcome in this topic my apologies, but if it is welcome I have more Hanna Marvel I will post.
  20. 20 years or so back I used to hang with Frank, and Joe became my friend as well. Have many great memories of having dinner with Joe and family and our favorite eateries and at his and Franks homes. On more than 1 occasion Joe and I met alone for dinner. He advised me on carpentry projects and I helped out with Home Computer stuff. We almost never talked comics however and surprisingly Network News Anchors from 1960-2000 was a frequent topic. To me Joe was truly great human being and a good friend, I will miss him very much. RIP My Friend and go let Cronkite and Mudd what you thought of them As a child Steel #1 was the first book I ever read with Joe's art. The piece proudly hangs framed on a wall in my office.
  21. I too recall Conrad setting up at the small (but for me as collector usually excellent) RVC shows going as far back as at least 1989. Dealt with him on Comics many times over the decades and while I did not always agree with him regarding the comics market he always explained the reasons behind his positions. Here are a couple of art pieces I purchased from Conrad. The Cap 230 page was the both the first Cap and first Sal Buscema page in my collection. At same time I picked up a small handful of other Sal Cap Pages but the 230 was first one I selected. Back then they were a bit pricey at $125-$175 a page. Man have times changed!
  22. Solid thinking! Drafting my letter of resignation now; "Later Sucker's, I have pages from SSS#1 to fund my retirement on a Pacific Tropical Island"
