  1. Marc Silvestri's DKIII cover available for purchase. Just $15,000... http://marcsilvestriart.com/store/?product=dark-knight-iii-the-master-race-1-cover
  2. Not sure if its good luck or bad karma, but last month I consigned my only page with Ampersand to the Comiclink auction which starts today... congrats to the future winner!
  3. +1 If you want to buy a Fabok cover, get one of his outstanding Justice League covers where he is doing some kick-butt original work. On DKIII, the multitude of variant covers for only dilutes the overall impact of the book, except for the completionists. I don't see very many of them holding what is likely a hefty initial purchase price. And the success of the book is ultimately dependent on the content being revered, something that DKII certainly can't point to as an achievement. But Jason's JL art holds its own, and those might be worth the price down the road. Full disclosure: I own two of Jason's Detective covers.
  4. Big week for me! Punisher #4 cover (1987) by Klaus Janson [100% nostalgia piece for me!] Punisher #4 cover Detective #486 pinup by Don Newton and Dan Adkins [my favorite inker on Newton] 'Tec 486 pinup by Newton Batman #363, pg 2 splash by Don Newton [1st full appearance of Nocturna!!!!] Bats #363, pg 2 splash
  5. Four very cool arrivals this week, three of which were Don Newton Batman interior pages, and BOOM a Winsor McCay 1908 Dream of the Rarebit Fiend. I took a lousy picture but its already at the framer so that will have to do for now. Had been hoping to someday be in a position to get a McCay original (the Nemo's are out of reach), and here it is!
  6. Congrats! You can't go wrong with a Terry Moore SIP page as a starter!
  7. Seen the art as well. Pretty awesome stuff. That chopper DPS is my favorite!
  8. It was a fun week for me. Got a great commission from Jerry Bingham in exchange for a Red Cross donation, and a cool I Kill Giants commission from Ken Niimura. Plus a Manifest Destiny cover and two very awesome Don Newton Batman pages are in my CAF recent additions: Here's the Bingham commission with Spectre and Batman:
  9. What a clever idea. Good job! Where did you get the blanks? I might do this for my wife's birthday. They are from Starbucks. Comes with a black and white pen that permanently affixes once baked at 450F. I picked these up about six months ago, but haven't been looking to see if they still readily carry them. More useful than a commission for me at least. A couple years ago, they had tall dark mugs, with white ink...that would look pretty cool with the right artist's treatment. The pitfall with this little project is that the ink easily comes off with the slightest abrasion, prior to getting put in the oven. I tried getting multiple artists at NYCC last year, and as it got handled, the unbaked ink from the prior artists got smudged by the new artist putting on their picture. But it still ended up looking good enough for my morning joe.
  10. Another installment in my coffee cup collection, with the ink permanently baked into the porcelain cup. This time its Mike Grell with Green Arrow on one side and Warlord on the other! Thanks to Catskill for accommodating my bizarre request, but this way I get to see some of my favorite OA every morning to start my day! I have one more out there getting done with the full treatment (I hope), and that will be it for this little project. I don't need that many coffee cups... Bob
  11. Happy to finally scan in the complete issue of Wild Blue Yonder #6. if you haven't seen the way Zach Howard literally drenches the pages with inked explosions, fireballs, clouds and debris, you're in for a treat. http://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=165500 Bob
  12. David Petersen variant on Star Wars #1. How could I pass up an alternative IG-88 origin story?? And a cool page from Terry Moore's Rachel Rising:
  13. In my CAF, there is also the two-page story Ryan did for Swamp Thing, which was a great pick by those editors, as he did an awesome popcorn/ear of corn Swamp Thing manifesting in a movie theater. Loved it!
  14. I continue to love the creativeness and execution of the creatures in this book by Matt Roberts. I lost count on the legs on this guy.
  15. Picked up the entire Scott Snyder/Sean Murphy 12-page Batman story shown in Detective #27. Been sitting on it for a year, so figured it was time to share it. Lots of future Batman/Robin combinations, including the first African-American Robin. Plus a bunch of new Bat-suits and villains. They both have said they would love to visit and flesh out these future Gothams, so hopefully we get to see these characters again. The Pacific Rim Court of Owls robot looks awesome... http://www.comicartfans.com/galleryroom.asp?gsub=163057
  16. And picked up the cover to Letter 44 #13. Really neat imagery with the boxing president's administration on the ropes.
  17. Fun week this week! Ryan Browne's Swamp Thing made out of popcorn describing how Swamp Thing just wanted to go and catch a movie once...Ryan's two-page spot in the Swamp Thing Annual #3. So surprised to see Ryan show up in Swamp Thing, since he usually is cracking me up in God Hates Astronauts.
  18. Very active week, both this week and next week: Tim Sale - Long Halloween Catwoman splash http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1184956&GSub=162724 Tim Sale - LoDK splash with huge villain montage http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1184957&GSub=162724 4-page scene from Rachel Rising #29, with an emotional punch. This is the second time I've bought consecutive pages from Terry Moore...the pacing and writing are outstanding. http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1184963&GSub=154017 Nicolas Delort - Charlie Brown Christmas scratchboard http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1184966&GSub=162725
  19. Forgot to show this one off. Sounds like one of the last ones... Rat Queens #1 sketch NYCC
  20. Picked up Clay McCormack's pages from Cafe Racer, published last month by Essential Sequential. Over the summer, Sean Murphy (Punk Rock Jesus, The Wake, etc) coordinated an "apprenticeship" for a group of budding artists where they worked alongside Sean on all aspects of being a successful artist in the comics industry. The result of the live-in apprenticeship was Cafe Racer, which Sean's wife wrote, and each of the apprentices contributed a section of pages and character designs. I really liked the work that Clay did in his five pages. Clay McCormack - Cafe Racer You can order the book directly from Essential Sequential.
  21. Just a reminder that the complete auction of my slabbed Batman books (a near complete run from #201 - 253, all high-grade) will be ending in two days (this Tuesday night, Dec 2) on ComicLink.com. A lot of effort went into assembling this #1 registry run, and there are some choice books that are really difficult to find. Obviously the highlights are the #227 9.8, #234 9.8, #232 9.8, #222 9.8, #251 9.8 and #238 9.4 (top grade for this impossible to find book), but there are a lot more in-between books. Its a lot of books to sell/buy at one time, but Comic Link does offer time payments for buyers who want to seize this opportunity to go after this run with all high-grade books. Best of luck! Bob
  22. +1 I tried to put myself in Kurtis's shoes, and man, this just blows for everyone.
