  1. Very nice run of high-grade Adams Bats going up for auction at Comiclink. Bids open up tonight. I expect they will end Sept 9th or so. 227 9.8 227 9.2 SS 232 9.8 234 9.8 (a stunning copy, Joe!) 240 9.8 251 9.6
  2. Picked up a couple pieces to The Wake's last issue (#10). Cover by Andrew Robinson, DPS by Sean Murphy.
  3. No one is clamoring for the Manifest Destiny signed limited edition watch? Manifest Destiny SDCC exclusive Vannen watch
  4. I thought the art was pretty impressive this issue, even as the story's pace took more of a pause. Art-wise, the concentric circle ripple effect on the submerging page was a really neat device to use for revealing someone disappearing into the water. And the split page for the speech by Lewis/Clark was a really effective way to show all the officers and the crew. And the last two pages...yikes! Not to mention the colorist Owen Gieni continues to deliver in spades. Definitely the book I look forward to the most each month (and Wild Blue Yonder).
  5. How is Vertigo with sharing movie rights on creator owned projects? Here are some anecdotal data points: Charles Soule who writes like six or twelve legacy books for Marvel/DC did his Letter 44 at ONI. Sean Murphy has said his Punk Rock Jesus rights are with Vertigo, and his next project is going to be at Image. Brian Vaughn is only now getting the rights to YTLM from Vertigo/New Line but it looks like Garth Ennis was able to sell the rights to Preacher early on. Maybe after realizing both AV and The Wake could have made Snyder a bunch of production dough, it was time to bring his next good idea somewhere that would give creators more or all participation in TV/movie rights. Purely speculating. Probably just good to diversify yourself in the industry...
  6. As with most things in Hollywood... seems like a really odd choice. Can't figure how they would arrive at him based upon the one other thing he did. The best part of that press release was that Ted Adams (CEO of IDW) is one of the producers. IDW just signed Gabe Rodriguez to an exclusive artist contract, so they are already lining up behind the artist. That Adams is also ushering along this project gives me a lot more faith it might get done than just random interested parties.
  7. Very cool. Those Anywhere Keys are impossible to find.
  8. Another arch page to go with the first one! Great underwater ambience, which can be pretty hard to capture. #7, pg 14.
  9. $4350 was the final price for the 9.8 #227 that just went through Pedigree. Congrats to the winner! Very happy to pick up the #224 in 9.8 to fill one of the few holes left in my Bronze Bats run!
  10. Court, you just made my day! "Shut the f*%@ up, Garry!" request coming through.
  11. Picked up two Don Newton Aquaman pages from World's Finest from the recent CL auction. Been focusing on Newton's 'Tec and Batman work (and Phantom when I can find it), but having Aquaman using his "power" was too good to pass up.
  12. Celebrating one of the best lines in comics: "Somebody call the Four Daves?" "Nope." "Shut the f*&$ up, Garry!"
  13. Midtown Downtown had a healthy stack on the shelf, which started at 1:1 but the 7b was starting to get cherry-picked out. I may or may not have contributed to that trend...
  14. Yes and yes (the first alien page lacks a little punch in black and white though). Also got that Chandelier splash page. I wonder if I'm clouded by the knowledge that they are making a TV series out of it, but the art has a polished storyboard feel to it. Solid sequential storytelling and a novel premise.
  15. Nicely done. The first appearance of the eponymous Letter 44! My package arrived in really good condition last night.
  16. Right there with you on the OA....pretty awesome stuff! Here are two of my most recent MD pages.
  17. was wondering who got that MD page with the buffalo-taur....I wasn't quick enough! Congrats!
  18. it is a great book with some great art. Here is yet another sample... the interaction with the supernatural I hope is going to give this some real legs.
  19. Was lucky enough to pick up the OA cover for MD#7....now if only McFarlane will return my call about that other MD cover...
  20. Fun art day! The Wake, Manifest Destiny, Black Science, and first appearance of Metal Men in New52!
