  1. Just got from C-Link auction...love these Cardy covers!
  2. Here is what I just got in the mail: the covers for Detective 17, 18 (first reaction to Damian's death), and 19 (the 900th issue of Detective, fold-out cover). Haven't solved the glare of the pencils yet... Jason Fabok was great to deal with directly. He mostly does digital, but can obviously nail it pencil in hand. Pleased beyond my wildest expectations.
  3. Yes, got that 9.8 beauty from Heritage, but it was the 2012 Feb auction...didn't see any last week...
  4. Absolutely agree about the head-examining. Much better ways for one person to spend $30k than on a book published five months ago! Will be interesting to see what it takes for someone to pry one of the new Bats books (cover + 52 pages of inks/pencils) out of his hands; likely its an immediate break up for sale situation. Or if he actually breaks one up himself and sells some pages just to shut people up. Since he put up the DOTF pencils on his website for all to see, they are tantalizingly close but so unavailable. Not unlike many things in this world...
  5. Any thoughts as to how much an acceptable offer might be for a full New 52 Batman issue (cover, plus pencils for all interiors, plus inked pages for all interiors)? With plenty of sales data for older pieces or for current books with a history of selling pages like Walking Dead, I am still struggling as to whether those are good comparatives in figuring out how to price a full issue of a Snyder/Capullo/Glapion Batman. If I was guessing, and this would be to buy-to-keep and not for trying to profit by breaking it up for resale, I would peg $6k for the cover, an average of $650 a page for the pencils ($16.9k for 26 pages) using an average price for all pages on TWD #107 as a guess-timate, and $300 for the inks on blueline ($7.8k)? So $30,700 total for the whole book...is that way off? Would love to hear a) this is too high or low, and why or b) if there has been an actual recent sale of an entire Snyder/Capullo Batman book. DOTF would be a premium to any of the Court of Owls books...thoughts on how much that premium might be? Thanks! Likely this is just an academic exercise, but it might become a goal. Bob
  6. Here are the three interlocking covers for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic #1 from IDW. They split each one of these three pieces into six variant covers; side-to-side, they go from morning until night. I would say Andy Price as the artist for the covers (and the first four issues of the comic) knocked these out of the park!
  7. Oh man, I NEED to change banks. All my bank ever gave me for visiting was a choice of a toaster oven or a pen drive...
  8. My quest centers around Brave & The Bold #103. It's Batman and the Metal Men...all my pages and the cover are up on CAF (bought a bunch of them from ha.com), but I would love to reunite the whole book. It has taken a little bit of time, but I've been able to hoover up the other pages off the other CAF guys, but now I am at the proverbial wall in my search. One of the guys I bought from told me that someone had the whole book and was selling off pages, so this guy bought all the Metal Men pages, but he couldn't remember the seller's name. Any help greatly appreciated. Bob
  9. I'm glad I picked up some of those books when I did. Lately, the auction prices seem to have gotten hotter and hotter for any of the top graded, top census Bronze Bats. Been waiting for a 238 to become available for a long time, but geez, this is ridiculous with 8 days to go. And thanks for the comment. I'm in some illustrious company with you and the others at the top of that group; clearly we all have fine tastes!
  10. SORRY, THAT WAS FAST. SALES THREAD CLOSED. If you care to look, I just posted a sales thread for 21 CGC slabbed Batman issues. 19 of them are in the issue range of #214 - 298, and 7 of which are Adams. There is some value there, so thought I'd point it out to this group. This is completely unrelated to the #238 for sale at clink, I assure you. I had sent off what I thought were nice issues from early in my collecting days for grading in August 2012 on the "value" rate, and lo and behold the box from CGC arrived today! If you like, take a look at the sales thread for particulars. -Bob
  11. Thanks for the note. I find that the L&K cover with Dodge really complements the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic OA covers...
  12. Got the package from Gabriel Rodriguez's reps in Chile with the covers! Locke & Key: Crown of Shadows #5 variant Locke & Key: Crown of Shadows #4 variant Took a little time with the holidays, but they are spectacular!
  13. God help us all if a 9.8 ever surfaced for 238. And I am not the winning bidder on this one. Yikes.
  14. Anyone out there with an Anywhere Key they are willing to part with? PM me. And I pulled the trigger and am dealing with Rodriguez's reps in Chile....will post on how it turns out. In discussion to buy two OA covers from Crown of Shadows! Still no word on how or where you can get L&K interior art...any insight?
  15. Realize this is a common posting, you can add me to the L&K list of converts. I have been churning my way through the TPB's and then got caught up on the Omega line. This is some of the best storytelling/art teamwork I have seen in comics. And the writing sure feels like vintage S. King (no surprise there), when you read it as the TPB. 276 pages of forum posts is a lot to get through, but I slogged my way through those too to get a sense of the issues you hard-core L&K collectors face, which seem to center on the variants, SS appearances, an uber-collector with THE registry set, and Skelton Crew key collection announcements. Those posts spurred me on, and while I am focusing on my reader copies and maybe some CoS high grade CGCs, I am getting a bunch of keys off one of the posters here as they are very, very cool. However, is anyone is looking to part with an Anywhere Key? I'll keep looking on eBay, but thought I would let the board know of my interest as well. Also, I looked into the OA, and I see there are two pieces of interior art floating out there in private hands, but also there are multiple references to "interior art is not being sold at this time"...anyone know how those interior pages got into the OA world? And has anyone ever bought one of the covers direct from G-Rod in Chile? Any issues with sending money Western Union to his reps there? So thanks again for all the knowledge posted thus far, and here's to four more epic storylines coming out of the Keyhouse in 2013, even if that means everyone gets hijacked by other-dimensional spinal silverfish.
