  1. For me, I noticed it because of their similar looks and mannerisms. It struck me like Bernthal watched Taxi Driver a dozen times before filming. Obviously the characters are quite different in background story and what not, but I thought I saw something when I was watching DD. That lead me to google it and the producer was quoted as saying there was indeed a heavy influence.
  2. I posted this in the other Daredevil thread but I'll mention it here too. The depiction of Frank/Punisher in this season, it had occurred to me after seeing him several times, is just a variation on Robert DiNiro's character Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver. In researching it apparently I wasn't wrong, there's several articles with the quotes from the producer confirming my suspensions that the character was based very much on Bickle. It's not that I hated it (Bernthal as Punisher), but it did feel like a rip off/copy cat and basically something I've already seen. I think something new and unique would have been better.
  3. So as I'm watching season 2 it's starting to grow on me more and more, the idea that Bernthal isn't playing Frank Castle/Punisher so much as he's playing variation of the character Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver. A few googles later and sure enough they have based the Punisher on DiNiro's Travis Bickle in a big way. Not that it's bad mind you, but over all I'm not in love with the depiction of Frank, it feels to much like an iconic character I've already seen.
  4. Quick question about S02E03. I know I read the comic where that rooftop scene was inspired from but I can't remember what comic it came from. Was it a Daredevil issue or maybe an Ennis Punisher issue?
  5. Wow that Spidey looks "amazing". Just looked at the SS site and the Goblin looks awesome as well.
  6. Hey I haven't had a monthly pull list since my friend and local store owner passed away. There's a couple books I'd like to start getting again and I'd like to start one up, but I have no local options. Where's the best place to get a monthly pull subscription online? Looking for the best place to deal with that sends out comics in good condition. Appreciate the suggestions.
  7. There is nothing in Naples, 30 min south of Ft Myers. There's a couple in Ft Myers and Cape Coral, and to be fair I haven't bothered to drive up to any of the in years because they all were pretty subpar.
  8. I finished the season. The first 4 episodes are really not that great. At episode 5 it gets better and keeps getting better with each additional show. I wonder why the started it so slow.
  9. Watched episode 1, I didn't think it was nearly as good as daredevil, but I'll keep watching.
  10. Hey I'm selling some of my statues, just wanted to post the link here incase you didn't see the sales thread. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=8990984#Post8990984
  11. So I guess Sideshow is doing a Batman: Noel themed statue? I'm not sure I get it. I mean Noel was an ok story, Lee Bermejo art is always amazing, but really it was a niche 1 shot book, who's really buying this?
  12. trailer 2 looks pretty good. very excited to see this show. Jessica Jones Trailer 2 on NerdGoblin.com
  13. I finally got around to reading some of the original TMNT comics. Having been a fan of the turtles since childhood it's a bit embarrassing to admit I've never read, until recently, the original Mirage comics. I picked up the available hardcover "The Works" collected editions and I have to say I really enjoyed them. I wrote a review of The Works editions on my site and thought I'd share it here. 14. I agree I'm enjoying FTWD more than I have enjoyed TWD on average. TWD has had a few great episodes in the last couple of seasons, but 75% or more of them were downright boring. So far both episodes of Fear have been pretty good.
  15. First episode was great, I wrote an article about it on my website if you'd like to check it out I appreciate it. http://www.nerdgoblin.com/fear-walking-dead-episode-1-review/
  16. Turned out awesome, what kit is that?
  17. Keeps looking worse and worse. On the set with the forehead tattoo and all.
  18. That first look trailer was pretty terrible. I didn't even want to watch the whole thing. Very uninspired and typical from WB/DC. Other than Gotham, which has it's flaws, DC has done nothing to impress me in a long time.
