  1. That is SO WEIRD. How did you end up with a portrait of my ex-girlfriend?
  2. Batman and Robin aren't even looking at the mega-babe! I guess Wertham was right: they'd rather play doctor with each other.
  3. Cool! Which runs were in the Poughkeepsie Files and when and how did they go public? All I really know about the Poughkeepsie collection is from this site: http://www.metropoliscomics.com/bookSearch.php?adv_search_pos=down&searchType=collection&display=list&set=31&front_image=&price=0&mod_date=&style=&has_scan=&discount_only=&grouplot_only=&title=LITTLE%20LULU&order=list_price&sort=asc I bought the book about 12 years ago, but I think the collection surfaced in the late 80s. There have been different file copy finds for Dell books; it's tough to keep them straight.
  4. Thanks for the tip, 9 years after the fact! I just ordered a set of these; hopefully they'll show up quickly because I can't wait to get my hands on them. There is a new catalog page for them, in case anyone else is interested: http://www.necpress.com/TickSearch.aspx?q=tales
  5. True, it could be British. In fact, the address for the publisher on the back does look British. There was a good amount of stuff going back to at least the '50s that was printed in the UK and distributed in Australia as well. (thumbs u It's British for sure. The thing I cannot figure is that the GCD for this title/publisher has only two issues (of 18) listed. Here's a link to one of the partially indexed "Lassie's" - Number 2. Note that it has the same cover as your #6, just a little different colouring. What I find hard to figure is the earlier book (#2) is priced at 8d. This one (#6) is priced at 6d. 2d less for the later book. One possibility is the page count dropped. I note the #8 has a cover blurb announcing 28pp. Nothing on the earlier one (and GCD is of no use here). If you look at the large-size photo of #2, it looks like it DOES say something about the page count - it's in white letters on the pale yellow background, so I can't tell whether it says "28" or a different number.
  6. True, it could be British. In fact, the address for the publisher on the back does look British.
  7. I purchased this comic from Dave's Comics in Royal Oak, MI, circa 1985. I believe it must be Australian. It's undersized and very glossy. The interior is B&W, and the pages are very fresh - I'm guessing the paper is higher quality than that used for American Comics.
  8. Poughkeepsie File Copy. Looks about 9.2 with decent PQ but has some tanning on the inside covers.
  9. My favorite RA&A cover! Here's my raw copy. (I've always wondered who Tom Brown was!)
  10. I especially like this Frankenstein cross-over cover! I don't see that issue too often.
  11. I don't have many in this category, but here are three I've found so far:
  12. This is the sort of mid-grade copy I like: The front cover has good eye appeal, and most of the defects are on the back cover.
  13. I got this comic for Christmas circa 1985. It's an attractive copy but only mid-grade due to the heavy tanning on the inside covers.
  14. Have no fear vaillant, I'l reply to your query about Bomber Comics. There are: -7 copies of #4 in the census -5 copies of #3 -5 copies of #2 -11 copies of #1 So #4 doesn't appear to be more rare, but it is a pretty cool cover - one that people probably hang on to - so it may be tougher to pick up.
  15. I'm saving up for this bad boy. Don't anybody try to scoop me! http://www.comiclink.com/itemdetail.asp?back=%2Fsearch%5Fadv%2Easp%3Fall%3Dy%26TITLE%3DBambi%26TITLEOPT%3DALL%26ISSUE%3D%26Condition%3D%26ConditionTo%3D%26CensusRank%3D%26SearchPageQuality%3D%26Pedigree%3D%26PRICEF%3D%26PRICET%3D%26DESCRIPTION%3D%26DESCRIPTIONOPT%3DALL%26SearchRemarks%3D%26SearchCGC%3D%26EXCLUDE%3D%26CATEGORIES%3D%2D1%26WCATEGORIES%3D%2D1%26SORT%3DCATEG%26%5Fwhere%5Fforsale%3Dy%26%5Fwhere%5Fauctions%3Dy%26x%3D25%26y%3D4%26where%5Fforsale%3Dy&id=856839
  16. It's very scary, Richard. Hold me. But that soup looks yummy!
  17. You need better friends, that dude is shady. I represent that. How much does the CGC deduct for blood stains on the interior pages of a pre-code horror comic?
  18. She is a hottie! (I wish I could be that zombie in the lower left corner, if only for an hour!)
  19. They're all beauts, but I especially love the Cheslers!
  20. Very nice copy. (thumbs u Understatement. That's gorgeous. Just noticed that it's a Gerber 8. Top census copy is an 8.5. Appears as if this copy would grade higher. Didn't realize that it was a Gerber 8. makes me appreciate my copy more - will have to look at it tonight! I've got 56 in a graded 9.2. Are you sure about the Gerber 8? Even if the Gerber number is 8, that may not mean much; Gerber was working with limited information. Since I've owned a copy for so long, I tend to notice when other issues come along, and I've seen several over the years, so I don't think it's especially rare.
  21. It would be interesting to research that point further to see if whether your theory is borne out by covers where Tojo or Hirihito can be clearly identified!
