Modern Star Wars Comics that are heating up
awakeintheashes replied to mr_highgrade's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
Looks like Vern is the only character from the books/comics we will get with the show. Not surprising since it’s set so far in the future. Link -

It was a joke, but my other point is that the way they perished is much different than dying of old age. Especially, A lot of torture before being set free only to perish in a terrible manner. -
Disney+'s STAR WARS: THE ACOLYTE (2023?)
awakeintheashes replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
I'm getting some Path of the Open Hand vibes from that trailer. In the Phase II HR books, we are introduced to the Path, who are a cult that believe strongly in the Force, but are adamant about it not being used. They believed that when someone uses the Force, for good or bad, it creates a disturbance and has ripples throughout the universe. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the followers of the Path felt that the Jedi have disturbed the Force too much and as a way to stop them, and possibly balance, they align themselves with the Sith. This would run contradictory to their opposition to anyone using the Force, but I guess you've got to align yourself with one Sith to kill a bunch of Jedi. Just a theory. Can't wait to see more.- 57 replies

Disney+'s STAR WARS: THE ACOLYTE (2023?)
awakeintheashes replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
Besides Vern, I don't think any have been introduced in the comics yet. The captions signal that one of the Jedi masters is named Sol. I don't think it's the same character we saw in a canon short story that Wookiepedia says took place 19 BBY, but the description of The Dark Mirror kinda follows a similar plot to what we are seeing here. Modern Star Wars Comics that are heating up
awakeintheashes replied to mr_highgrade's topic in Modern Age Comic Books
With the amount of death and destruction going on in the novels, it's easy to see how tempted many may have been to turn to the dark side. But, also there has to be a lot of Jedi dealing with PTSD and others just turning away from the order because of the more rigid nature. It's complex, and like you, I hope the Acolyte dives into that. -

I think what we are going to see is the Jedi having an identity crisis in a way. Before the Nihil, they were peacekeepers, many never using their lightsabers, let alone kill anyone. The order during the High Republic was less rigid than we saw in the prequels. I think we are going to see the transition of the Jedi - going from freely experiencing the force to one that is more rigid and likely cutoff from certain aspects of the force that allowed the Sith to rise and infiltrate. While we don't know how the war with the Nihil ends, we know the Jedi and Republic prevailed, but the costs of such a victory likely decimated the Jedi more than expected. So essentially, still at their peak but nowhere near the Golden Age we saw early on in the novels, especially phase 2. They are slowly unraveling. -

Possibly some Vern books. Depends on if anyone survived that far into the timeline. We've finally got a release date. Can't wait to see the trailer tomorrow. -

I haven't checked reddit yet, but I need to put on my SW nerd hat and figure out if that is the lightsaber hilt of a Jedi we already know.- 57 replies

Link I've gone down the High Republic rabbit hole these last few years reading all the books, comics, short stories, and audio dramas. I am beyond excited for this show. So happy to finally have a release date.- 57 replies

Very true. I’ve been rewatching the series with my son, and it’s awesome watching him get the same amount of enjoyment out of the show as I did.

Happened to me the day before, so you’ve got company.

Are you trying to verify a comic using the cgc card page? For some reason the card page comes up first in google search results.

AT&T's WarnerMedia & Discovery merger streaming consolidation
awakeintheashes replied to Bosco685's topic in The Movie Forum
If 4K doesn’t matter, yeah. That’s what I would recommend doing. They watered down the subscription tier you fall under when you have a sub through a TV provider, so no more 4K content if you access max using one of those subs.- 258 replies

Ouch… I subscribed to the 4K annual plan when they watered down the plan you get when you subscribe through a provider like DirectTV at the end of December. It was $199 then. $139 under this promo is a good deal. I’d hop on that for anyone who was holding out, especially before GoT comes back.- 258 replies
