  1. I thought he posted something about one or two of the books that were on the list. I’ll have to look back. Edit: I misread your original post and thought at least one of those books was on the original list
  2. These aren’t the same books CL said they looked over and told CGC that nothing looked wrong, are they?
  3. This is a great point and makes a lot of sense. Same thing happened to me, except I sent the same book back to have the same problem fixed 3-4 times and it wasn’t fixed until the final time. All it took was adding the correct notation for the book. The variant and artist noted was incorrect, and like you I noted all over what change needed to be made. I have no idea how or why it took that many times to fix such a simple problem, but I am not surprised this extreme level of incompetence was exploited.
  4. There was a silver for $0.90 when I posted my last reply. This is what is available now.
  5. There are four versions listed (make sure the “only in stock” box is unchecked). I see the Silver, Gold, Blue, and Red. Is there another color variant?
  6. Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu Movie Receives Filming Start Date The Mandalorian And Grogu Will Land In 2026, Kicking Off A New Wave Of Star Wars Movies
  7. If yes, then while terrible, it would explain the failure in reholder process. If no, then we’ve got two big messes and failures that have hopefully been corrected.
  8. Man, I hope so. The boom from when they got in was nice, but they wore out their welcome quick.

  10. Until recently, there were some who were authorized by CGC to crack open and work on SS books and they would retain the yellow label. I’m not sure when this changed as I don’t collect signed books.
  11. There are copies available at MCS and atomic avenue, but unfortunately neither listing has any additional information.
  12. It happens. Insurance companies don't exist to rip people off, no matter how many people think so. Their brand is closely connected to the way they treat claimants. They have no problem destroying scammers when the need arises, but honest claimants are treated differently, even if they have to jump through a few hoops first. A good friend of mine is a senior manager at one of the largest medical insurance companies in the world. According to him, they sometimes prefer to pay for more expensive treatment than requested because their doctors have determined it is better than whatever is asked for. In the long run, they find that better solutions lead to fewer claims and happier customers. I was hoping this thread would bring about a @dgarthwaite-migration appearance, but instead we get this…
  13. Advising someone on their submission and pressing options, even with everything going on… What is the current real-world TAT for ccs pressing (regular track modern)? I went back some pages, but only found TATs associated with signings. Also, how competent are they on modern books (90s)? I use other pressers, but this person is looking for a quicker turnaround.
  14. Looks like they are noting it as Newsstand/Blank UPC, which is in addition to the direct version and the standard Newsstand version. Two have been graded to date under that notation.
  15. Based this listing, I don’t think these are the source, unfortunately. Likely it’s a book market newsstand, since some have stickers over the blank upc box and some just the blank upc box. https://www.ebay.com/itm/176225060650?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=7FALszvZSUK&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=FizuN4NFQ5O&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
  16. This is one of those things I’ve meant to look up forever, but never did until now. Resolution is much better on D+, but I can’t grab a screenshot from my phone in that app. Boy Meets World S2 Episode 1 Air Date: 9/23/94 Comic: Uncanny X-Men #316 (Sept. 1994) There’s another episode where Cory is reading a comic on his couch, but I can’t remember which episode it was at the moment.
  17. I left in late 2017, and when I go back it’s for meetings on the Hill, so I never got to head over that way. Hope they are both doing alright. The wife was always super friendly. Yeah, that plant store was bad. it was also so hot in there in the summer. Mixed with the dust it just wasn’t a pleasant experience. I settled in at Victory and liked everyone there. Although, they’d have card tournaments on the weekends, and I could never find a parking spot, so it was pretty frustrating. I had a pull at Fantom for a little bit, but they moved once or twice and it just wasn’t convenient. A lot of my best back issue hauls and finds came from Craigslist (pre-fb marketplace) or the poorly publicized local auctions.
  18. The silver Batman/Grendel was a mail-away contest, wasn’t it? I didn’t really read Hero and don’t have any copies, so I’m not sure if the other ashcans followed a similar format.
  19. Oh man, it closed? I used to shop there all the time. Victory was my main shop, but I’d hit up Hole in the Wall regularly as well. There is/was a plant store in Del Ray that also had comics. That place would have told Hole in the Wall to “hold my beer”’in regards to hole in the wall and books stacked all over.
  20. Apologies if these have already been mentioned. There are three movies I really enjoy that are either overshadowed by others in its category or just never got/get a ton of love. 1. Event Horizon - this movie has pretty much everything I enjoy in one movie and the cast is quite great. 2. Thank you for Smoking - Great cast, funny, and it came out right before I made the decision to move to Washington DC in 2006. A lot of good memories of my time spent there and I equate that movie as the start of my journey into the real world after college. 3. Christmas in Connecticut - it gets overshadowed by White Christmas, Holiday Inn, and It’s a Wonderful Life, but this is probably my favorite Christmas movie. Also, it’s not just a relic of its time like a lot of older movies. There are aspects of the plot that could be placed in a script nowadays. A movie that I think could be considered perfect, and has been mentioned already, is Rocky. With that said, I wasn’t sure how Paulie didn’t get sick after taking a big chomp out of the half-cooked Turkey leg before he tossed it out the door.
  21. 6.5/7.0 - Looks to be some color rub on Spidey in addition to the indents and waves on the front cover. On the back cover there appear to be some “dents” that break the color. This is in addition to the color-breaking creases on the spine. A press may bump up the grade some, but it won’t get rid of the color breaking and rubbing.
