Hopefully, as of right now it may just be limited to Vern’s first appearance as she’s the only character in the comics that has been confirmed. Maybe this newest phase will have some new characters that could hopefully live long enough to appear in the show.

Glad they dropped three episodes, which was essentially one 90 minute episode. Really sets the season up and kinda confirms what many have theorized about Omega. Hate that we have to wait a week for more.

Maybe the email from the CCG president came out a little too early. Hopefully, this isn't a new scam that requires an addendum to his laundry list of people scamming CCG and the collecting community.

If this story continues to grow and CGC does nothing to educate and reassure the community what it is doing to help ensure a book is what the slab says it is (reholder images, PR to identify tampering), then it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility that the 3rd gen slab is a knee-jerk avoid. If this story slowly dies and the majority of the community is unfazed by what is happening, then it's business as usual.

That tamper insurance should be CGC’s tamper evident case and its guarantee. Instead that guarantee is a Tommy Boy guarantee. Until the market favors a different service/product, that’s the new reality.

Yeah, some education is going to need to be done based on that statement Mike was told to post. Without it, I can see the uptick in people with buyers remorse crying counterfeit, and the seller with nothing to reference in refuting the claims.

Considering the verify tool wouldn’t have helped at all with the reholdered books, you’re right plus 100.

Yeah, that language was used to explain why they wouldn’t help when I was scammed out of my IH 181 a few years back. The voluntary parting is what will probably get you here.

One more thing on this…this was the time when marvel was switching to barcodes for Direct and Newsstand. Is it possible the bookstores wanted to test out their own barcode system and pricing at this time? That would explain the blank price box. It wouldn’t be the first or last example of a newsstand book with US price variants. I’m going to go down this rabbit hole to see if there is anything to this hunch. If anyone has any info or has seen a stickered version of this book, please share.

Ugh, was that the book you posted about before, or was that the Silver copy that they cancelled once they saw this thread?...If it's the latter, I'm sorry for putting attention on it before you received it.

Ouch. Was this your first pre-screen submission? If not, USPS destroyed your package or something bad must have happened getting to the grading table.

The copy that was available for #1 (not 1A, 1B, 1C) had a “silver cover” note in the item notes section. It was available for $0.90, so if this is something rare, someone got a deal.

Yeah, I guess. Maybe whoever bought it can post which version they received. Either way, there's the listing entry if anyone cares enough to monitor when future copies are for sale on AA.

Yeah, I looked back and saw it’s been discussed already. Remembered references to it before…coffee hadn’t kicked in.

I don't think this has been brought up yet, but I think this may have been part of a limited test run for bookmarket newsstands (Barnes & Noble, Walden, Borders) in certain markets between 1993-1995 across various publishers. One of which was in the Chicagoland area. There have been, I believe, two copies of this variant posted from boardies in that area. I'm not sure if the copies originated from that area, but if so, it may help point to at least one market where they were tested. The reason I am gravitating to this theory is because we have recently seen copies of Star Wars Heir to the Empire #1 come to market which feature a blank UPC or a UPC sticker over the blank UPC box. Recently, a set of Star Wars Heir to the Empire #1-6 came up for sale on eBay (Link to Sale), which included a blank UPC variant. Based on the listing description and the seller's other listings, he was selling off a lot of his Star Wars stuff from childhood. I figured there was a good chance he purchased these books off the newsstands or a LCS (issues 1-3 were all newsstand variants). So, after couple beers, I decided to reach out to the seller to compliment him on his Star Wars collection and to ask if he had purchased the Heir to the Empire #1 off the shelf, and if so, if he remembered from where. Below is his response... I know the UXM #302 variant features a blank UPC and no cover price, whereas Heir to the Empire #1 only features a blank UPC. However, this could simply mean there was a difference between publishers and their agreement/test/plan with the bookstores in these markets. If anyone has any information they want to share if they know the region their copies originated from, it'd be helpful to know as I start to plunge into this rabbit hole.
