So I have a funny story about this and how I got it this book today. I recently purchased some silver keys from a lcs (x-men 1, ff 48,49, and 52). I knew I was not going to keep FF 48 AND 49. I was going to either sell them or trade them for a GSX 1. So there was someone who wanted both books and wanted more pics of issue 49. So I happily obliged and sent him more photos. Once I opened the book to take more photos there was color bleed on the inside cover. Freaking amateur color touch! So I still sent the pictures and we both agreed to back out of deal. I sent the photos of the color bleed to the owner of the shop and he made nice with a full refund or swap for something different. So this is what I chose. I wish he had a GSX 1 but he didn't and this book just popped out. I definitely learned a lesson in this experience and I will also keep a black light in my truck. I will also continue to support the lcs. It was a honest oversight.

My condolences to you and your family. I would insure it, clean it, press it and have it graded even if you are going to keep it or sell it. The longer you have that book out of a slab the greater chance you have of damaging it. If you get it graded there will be no questions about the grade and condition. You remove all guessing. Just my opinion. I wish you the best of luck.

So what is the impact of books missing a piece like this? Does it effect the value of a book with a similar grade that is complete?

There’s a 5% ebuck promo today until the 23rd. That should help
I get sick and tired of some of the listings. Just when I think I see something that I might want it turns out to be a resto book.

I'm trying to pull the trigger on something today and settle up with everything I have going on.

Just asking for a little advise. Should I stretch and get the highest grade possible that I can afford or get two lower grade books (1.8-2.5 X-Men 1 and and another silver key in the same grade range)?

This guy has a NICE copy but its not slabbed.
He told me that book was 9.8 and his bud wanted Todd to sign it and he never got it graded. He was going to send it in to cbcs.

ThIs was Bought by me from my friend who was the original owner this comic he got CGC Graded in 2014 this was a former CGC 9.8 my friend took it out of CGC case for TOdd mcfarlane signature in july 2019 at SDCC mcfarlane signatures were rare before the in house CGC signing which was approx January 2020.. also in early 2019 the 9.8 were going for 1,100 compared to them going for 4,500 to 5,000 now Due to Lack of work my friend got laid off from work I'm buying some of his key issues any questions or questions feel free to ask . This is a former 9.8 comic in beautiful condition
So cracking it as a CGC 9.8, getting an unverified sig, then attempting to sell it at top dollar, he expects $4K ish on this sale?
Yep, he still sends me msgs.

It’s a pretty hot book now - I’d say somewhere between $6-9 G’s from a 3.5-5 but vary
check out go collect - they are fairy accurate with present FMV
https://comics.gocollect.com/guide/view/124354
According to that guide this should be $5,500. You are right they are hot right now. I will have to keep my eyes open.

I have not seen a raw X-Men 1 on sale in a long time.

X-men may be the last OG series that is relatively affordable
What is a decent price for a 3.5 - 5 or are have they all shot up across the board?
