  1. The #33 is a new addition. The #136 is a copy I bought a long time ago (teenager) and decided to sub as I always liked the cover (and story). Just 25 of the Lee/Ditko issues to go...And AF#15...
  2. So, a turn of events regarding the local show... The show is "dead". Not long after my post about being approached to handle advertising, signing on, etc., the "main" organizer called me. Long story short, he thought about it more and decided he didn't want the hassle. Simple as that. Some may ask why I didn't take it on myself. Bottom line, I don't want to be the "organizer" of a "antique, collectible and nostalgia" show. Honestly, I would rather let the dust settle from this one and maybe make something "my own" later on. So, out of that, will come opportunity (hopefully). What exactly, little too early but for 2018, for shows, it is looking like the following: Northern Game Expo - April 2018 (already paid up) East Ferris Flea Market - May 2018 * This is a one-day flea market that takes place in an arena on a community just outside my home town that I am thinking of trying. I went last year with my wife, solid turn out, you had to park on the road as the parking lot was full, far more than the local antique show. Tables are DIRT, DIRT cheap (like $10 for an 8 foot table). I might try to unload nothing but cheap books here. I also thought it might be a good place to hand out business cards. Never know what kind of newsprint gold could come your way. Will require a bit more investigation... Sudbury Graphic Con - June 2018 (waiting for applications to come up). This is the largest show I do. Looking forward to it. Will try for a "premium booth" again, but I think you pretty much have to be a "store" to get one. Northeastern Antique, Collectible and Nostalgia Show - October 2018 Gateway Fan Ex - Late fall 2018 (TBD) So, other than eBay (just finished last auction for 2017), that is pretty much a close on the year. I might do a "roll up" of sorts. As always, thanks for reading!
  3. Try something different...I'll be offering an assorted Zenescope convention exclusive package. 25 exclusives. Small sample below. Will ship within North America.
  4. Final 9 - 10 hours left https://www.ebay.com/sch/more_fun_comics/m.html?item=122853430783&hash=item1c9aa295ff%3Ag%3A8AAAAOSw1cNZ9My5&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
  5. I will post mine later on today/early evening
  6. Woo-Hoo! My early Christmas present to myself arrived safe and sound today ! Books still on the loose: AF #15 ASM #1 - #5, #7 - #12, #16 - #19, #21 - #24, #27, #29, #30, #32, #35, #37, #38
  7. Oh yeah, social media and definitely use Facebook for sure. Food truck? Neat idea but there is not a single food truck where I live. Will keep posted.
  8. While I do think it would be cool for Marvel to have ALL of its heroes under one roof, I think FOX, as a whole, has done a decent job with the X-Men franchise. While they have had their flops ( X3, Wolverine: Origins, Apocalypse I'm looking at you), as a whole, they have done some very good work. I still either really like or love X1, X2, First Class, Days of Future Past, Deadpool, Logan...Not a bad track record. I would be fine with the X-Men staying in their own separate 'movie universe'. Incorporating mutants into the MCU and the underlying fear of people born with special abilities will be "diminished" (and I always felt this with the comics) as there are already lots of people with special powers running around. The only property that I really wish would revert to Marvel would be the Fantastic Four. I think Marvel could reincorporate them fairly seamlessly into the MCU and the FF would fit well with the established formula (imagine Chris Evans playing the Torch again LOL). Plus, gaining access to all those other villains (Doctor Doom, Galactus) and the Surfer could be pretty epic.
  9. I don't have many celeb signed books but this one is a keeper.
  10. I was thinking this the other day...About BAS and Justice League. Why are they not using one of the most revered cartoon series of all time as the "building blocks". I am a "Marvel guy" but by far, my favourite cartoons ever were BAS and Justice League. With most Hollywood movies, sometimes they "overthink" things (or the suits do) from minor "lets change the suit for NO reason" to major gaffes like say Spider-Man 3 or (gasp) Justice League. I am not saying just make the cartoon "live action" but the blue print for successful DC movies is staring them right in the face. Basic plots/story arcs, characterizations, interactions between characters, etc. My judgement could be "clouded" due to my fondness of those shows, but that is my humble opinion.
  11. So I have received a bit more information and while still not 100% I will do it, just wondering if anyone has any tips as an organizer or what they have seen successful local shows do right or even things I should be clear about should I sign on. Any advice/tips appreciated.
  12. Regardless if it is $25 M or $50 M in reshoots (or whatever the actual cost), is it fair to say that the Box Office for JL has been a disappointment and just leave it at that? All of the bickering is tiresome at this point...Yeah, yeah, I know if I don't like it, don't read the thread but I have found some of it interesting and informative, particularly that You Tube video with the Kevin Smith going over what was in or potentially in earlier versions.
  13. Yes, this is by far my favourite book of this lot. I think he passed away like just over 2 months later. I knew he was going to be at that con so I hunted ebay and other places for months prior looking for just the right book for him to sign, I wanted one that was more "authentic" to the movies and this fit the bill perfectly and it graded a 9.8 sans pressing. I do love it.
  14. Once in a blue moon, when subbing books, I might add a book from my ASM collection. I always liked this cover, so I figured "what the heck". Not too shabby.
  15. With Deadpool at least you knew it was a real "passion project" for Reynolds....I do agree though, who knows. I am hoping it is good, as I want ALL super hero themed movies to be good and succeed, so
  16. I will go see this but a Venom movie without any connection/involvement with Spidey still doesn't sit well with me. One of the key things about Venom is that Spidey/Venom connection. Would you make a Joker movie without any connection/mention to Batman? With most super hero flicks, I give them all a fair chance before I pass judgement but with Sony, I have a lot of doubt. There is no reason why they couldn't work Venom in properly and I feel that Sony just wants to cash in on that Spidey expanded universe sooner rather than later. They could have introduced Brock/Venom and then spun him into his own movie. We will see how this ends up going...
  17. Last auction of the year, happy holidays! Thanks for looking! https://www.ebay.com/sch/more_fun_comics/m.html?item=122843316468&hash=item1c9a0840f4%3Ag%3AeAEAAOSweM1Z88vY&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2562
  18. Well, turns out I did make one more buy before the end of the year I was cruising some sites and of course, happened to take a peak at Reece's Rare Comics site...I was happy to learn they are having a Black Friday to Cyber Monday sale. "11/24: Sale ends tonight! Our annual Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale is now in progress and lasts through 11:00PM EST Monday, November 27th. Discounts/free shipping available. If you're not on our newsletter please e-mail gregreece21774@yahoo.com to receive a copy and get all of the details." A quick exchange with @alexgreece and another one off the list for a super fair price. Some may recall I had a raw copy that I really was not happy with so I sold it but I have been having a bit of difficulty replacing it due to what I see as some jacking the price what I can only assume is because of that scene in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Problem rectified! While not a "mega" key, I consider it one of the true highlights of the Lee/Ditko ASM run in terms of story and art. Hopefully the shipping/customs gods cooperate and it arrives safely.
  19. ASM #135. I find that the magazine may be a tad hard to find for a good price. Or, it could just be where I have seen it. I always seem to find the mag waaay over priced. And as @porcupine48 said, pick up the ASM Giant Size #4 before it starts to trek upward more.
  20. I have to admit there are times when I seriously question this and not just try to pick up other keys, cool covers, etc. Part of the goal though stemmed from the fact that when I got back into collecting and especially after I learned about CGC and the boards here, I was "all over the place", I was getting a bit of everything (except GA). I arrived at a point where I felt my collecting needed a "focus". I had a fairly sizable 'chunk' of ASM already completed and Spidey has been a fave of mine since my teens, I decided this would be a good route for me as a collector. Of course, I did not forsee the big bumps for AF #15 but it is what it is. I still have a few keys other than ASM that I would like to have (DD #1 being the current top choice for non-ASM key and for some reason, I just really dig the 1st Deadman, go figure) but those will likely wait. The "journey" so far has been fun and at times, frustrating. Being picky about a mix for me between grade and eye appeal and price point, finding them in the first place, etc.
