  1. Fight Comics #40 VG/FN $450 SOLD Ok folks, this is is a big one. THE Fight cover to own. Nazis. Bondage. Vultures. It's got it all. I bought it as a 5.5, but I would call it a 5.0. No spine splits at all. Two teeniny teency-weency pieces of tape interior cover (one holding the tiny triangle of lrc on, and the other sealing a 1/8" chip on the wing of the vulture). I wouldn't call it a brittle book, but because of tanning, it's a cousin. Actually, most of the interior is quite supple and fresh. Cover is attached, slightly puling back cover, but no different than any other book. (the scan is making the back staple look bad, that's just a shadow artifact) This book is very flat and has a nice cover sheen. If you collect Classic Fight, GGA, or Vulture covers, you probably already know this one doesn't come up for sale often, so I wouldn't wait too long to pull that trigger.
  2. Ok folks, here's a former keeper of mine...not one you see everyday.... Vic Flint #1 FN/VF $350 SOLD Talk about an hard-to-find book in-grade! Super solid book. Tight Staples and centerfold, white pages, supple interior. Some very (very) light vertical creases on cover (non-color breaking), some pencil on cover (including a "P" designation lower right. Back cover has two edge dings and a little dirt. Otherwise, this book might be a VF+ or better. Scans DO NOT do this book justice.
  3. You sir have great taste! Sold! (oh, and welcome to the boards)
  4. Startling Comics #48 VG- $250 SOLD Here's another you don't see everyday! Dynamite GGA cover by Schomberg moonlighting from Timely as Xela over at Better. This issue has some neatly-done tape interior cover sealing tears including reinforcement of staples and a spine split seal. Centerfold is attached and the book is very flat. Printer's creases front and back don't detract from this book's presentation!
  5. Planet Comics #30 VG $195 Here's a nice affordable copy of a pretty hot book. While the cover is technically attached, it is only so by the back cover, and lightly at that. Upper spine split with pieces out, and 3/4" tear (upper, near "of") that goes through book. Light creasing on cover. Centerfold detached. Still a well-presenting book with a dynamite color strike on cover.
  6. Gotta few more to post, but it'll have to wait until later...Stay tuned!
  7. Planet Comics #18 FR/GD $150 SOLD Very tough book with one of the best bondage/GGA covers of the run in my opinion. This copy, while well-presenting in mylar, has a nearly fully-detached and split cover with pieces missing (although it has been rejoined by tape below the bottom staple). It has a good amount of tape on interior cover sealing splits (neatly done). Still, you don't see this one every day and I'm betting you need it to complete a the run. Only selling because of a recent upgrade. (and this one has better cover color than its replacement. Complete book, don't miss out!
  8. Planet Comics #46 VG/FN $150 SOLD Nov 19 1946 Date Stamp! (this book just turned 70 only four months ago!) With nude panels. This one has pretty great color and is structurally very solid, but I would call it a 4.5 because of some rusty staples with moderate migration. Also a 1"x1/2" piece cut out of bottom of 1st page. Does not affect art. Interior is very supple. As usual, my Fiction House books have great color. Seriously, this must have been one of the first off the press, it's just so saturated and vibrant. I'm actually having a hard time letting this go since its color is so much better than my 7.5... Nudity Panels (oohlala) ADULTS ONLY CLICK BELOW!!!
  9. Fight Comics #39 FR/GD $65Ready to own a classic cover at a dirt-cheap price? Here you go, the "Smoking Gun GGA" classic. Lilly Renee art, this book is a must. Why so cheap? This issue has water damage and is brittle. Spine is half-split and all pages are separate, split at the spine. Despite that, you can read this book but it's best left as a Mylar Queen. Still, it is complete and has a pretty decent cover strike for this issue, so you really can't go wrong.
  10. Ok, let's start it off easy... ]ungle Comics #47 VG/FN $75 SOLD Classic "Hippo Bondage" cover. Two extra staples and a piece of tape lower spine shouldn't detract from the awesome cover and color strike of this early Jungle. Book is flat and supple!

  12. Blonde Phantom #16 VF/VF+ $475 Cap & Bucky story, Kurtzman's "Hey Look". Off-White pages, apparent-VF/VF+, bought back in the day for the eye-appeal. This beauty (I think) has had some moderate cosmetic work done. A real stunner though. You won't regret the purchase. I'm hating selling this book. Notes: I'm not an expert (I don't have a black light or anything like that), but will do my best to describe the restoration I suspect. By eye & upon close inspection, I can spot CT in the all-red area of the upper left corner on the spine, maybe a 1/4"x1/4" spot, and little spine tick CT under that. The color is very close, likely professionally-done. I only notice it under certain light. There also might be possible leaf casting to replace the back corners, but I can't say for sure. It is very small and almost invisible. Likely if the seller who sold this book to me hadn't mentioned it, I wouldn't have noticed. The staples are shiny, but I can't detect that they've been cleaned or replaced as there are no stains, extra holes, or rogue indentations to indicate that. The book is very crisp and flat, so likely pressed, but that is no surprise these days. I don't see any evidence of a weakened spine or staple area. There are a few interior page tears that have been sealed, but some that haven't (nothing worth mentioning). To my eye it hasn't been trimmed based on some features on the edge of the interior paper (usually everything is crisp and fresh what that has happened). Again, not an expert, but whoever did the work was one, and that is a plus in my book. No sloppy Sharpie or white-out marks, scotch tape, or extra staples. Museum quality stuff here. Actually, this was the book that got me into restored books. When I saw how great they could be, I looked for more. Based on several copies of early Planet restorations I own, this one is possibly done by the famous conservator Susan Cicconi. A big plus in my book, but I can't confirm it. I will say that this book is stunning irregardless of restoration. When I bought it I fell in love with its beauty and stability. The book is very study and is highly stable to handle. Colors are bright and for many years it has been one of my top 10 books. Because of a big purchase coming down the pike for me, I am forced to sell it. Just one of those books that if I get not takers, won't be sad that I get to keep it.
  13. Blonde Phantom #12 F+ $650 First Issue! - This one is a single staple book. Centerfold detached. Crease on cover is non-color breaking and highly pressable. Book is un-restored. Came (via another boardie) from Harley Yee a few years back for less than asking. Super-supple book, nice blacks. Buy it before I think twice... (note: scans are a bit dark: whites are whiter in-hand, especially the back)
  14. Hey Folks, it's been a while and I thought I would test the waters here on the new forum with a couple nice books from the vault. -j IN THIS THREAD: Two Blonde Phantoms (BOTH SOLD) Why: (I'm selling them) Gotta fund some recent purchases, so some of my favorite stuff has to go. So I'm happy to listen to offers, but with prices like these, I wouldn't wait too long before pulling the trigger. 15. I usually miss out on these sorts of deals. It's even sweeter because I need a #`154, that never happens! Anyway, I had to console myself after you pulling that Cow Puncher. I knew I should have pulled the trigger on that one...
  16. I've waited to comment for a while, instead preferring to follow the various discussions and new revelations to get more information. This situation, as many have surmised, is all about money. Everything else: the "bad feeling", shipping, and moral issues are all attempts to redirect what was a series of unfortunate (but intentional) events by the seller to get more of it. There can be no other reason. That being said, I think there is still an opportunity to fix this for 707. I think what everyone had hoped for was a quick acknowledgement of poor judgement, and an action to make it right: immediately. Trust is the real currency in which we all trade here on the boards and all attempts to "justify" a breach of that trust compounds the issue at hand. Listen, we've all made mistakes and dug holes that need not to have been made so deep. Nothing is new under the sun and pride, errors in judgement, greed, stupidity, etc., have been the foundation for public mistakes by many of us (hint: this is how we are able to recognize it when we see it). Looking at this whole mess from above, I don't see any malice here or anything shady - certainly no crime committed. What do see is a mistake that has rolled in to a village-crushing snowball. Of course, no village has been destroyed, and no real damage done. I know I don't speak for everyone here, but for me, I would be willing to put this to bed provided a detailed apology be published here and a consummation of the deal made. No doubt it'll be a heck of a band-aid to pull off, but better to let this wound heal in the open air with a few scars than to keep picking at the scab.
  17. I've done a number of deals with CAL, always a great experience. Highly recommended!
  18. Hello all, Need to complete a few books here (updated). Looking for cover-less copies/parts for the following books: All-Top 14 - Need lots of pages... (Fox) Spotlight Comics #3 - 3rd page after the centerfold needed (or whole wrap) - (Chesler) Key Comics #1 - Centerfold needed (Consolidated) Junior Comics #10 - Centerfold (Fox) Frankie Comics #6 - First wrap (Timely) Dead Who Walk #1 - Last Page/first wrap (Realistic) Jungle Comics #3 - Centerfold (Fiction House) I would prefer the pages not be brittle. Incomplete books are ok, but the pages I need should be there (will check if your book is incomplete). I might be interested in low grade copies with covers if the price is right. PM me what you've got and what you want! Thanks!
  19. Pretty excited about these books. Just about decided that the only way I can afford those early Planets is to buy them restored. These three came from the same bound volume (I think) and have had some excellent restoration work done to fix the glue/binding damage. Colors are pretty, so who cares about a few mm of paper being trimmed? Not this guy. (BTW, anyone who has others like these you would like to sell, I'm your man - seriously) This one is a 9.0: These two are on their way to me right now, so I'll re-post new pictures once they've been released back into the wild:
