  4. How come I can't find anything relating to Sixth Gun at gpanalysis.com? No slabs anywhere??? I find that a bit hard to believe. If someone knows how it's listed or if it's listed on their database...please link me up.

  6. I think those days are over...at least while the TMNT are making a resurgence. I think the only exception right now are raw copies. Those seem to be holding fairly steady. That may be just due to the risk of not knowing authenticity and true condition. So where do you put an 8.0 or an 8.5 1st print at in terms of FMV right now?
  7. So I read this statement and started poking around: What I found was no indication that the show had been cancelled. In fact the show was nominated for a few awards and the general reception has been good overall. There was information suggesting that new episodes for both Young Justice and Green Lantern the Animated series were completed but were being released for a variety of reasons in January 2013. Some of those unaired episodes are currently downloadable or viewable at Cartoon Network. (New episodes 14-16 are also available as downloadable torrents if you search). http://www.comicvine.com/news/young-justice-and-green-lantern-the-animated-series-delayed-till-2013/145384/ Wikipedia has it listed as running from November 11, 2011 to the present with no cancellation date indicated. At the Annie awards it was nominated for both: Best General Audience Animated TV Production and Best Music In a Television Production. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Lantern:_The_Animated_Series http://www.geeknewwave.com/article/tue-10162012-1715/dc-nation-not-cancelled-just-postponed So in summary I'm not entirely sure that the GL boat has sunk irrevocably.
  8. Before there was talk of movies or even more current animated ventures the silver age Green Lantern was a solid character. I've always gravitated towards that Hal Jordan version of GL even more so than the interest I've held in either Superman or Batman. I always looked forward to the development of the character on either the big or small screen and definitely don't feel that the movie was a "fail". I think that people hyped the GL movie so much that when it didn't become a mega-blockbuster they put it on the back burner. In truth, whatever they spent on making that flick was obviously recouped in either initial movie ticket sales, or rentals or sales of the DVD/BLU-RAY. That's even with all the pirating! What didn't happen is the movie didn't make 1 BILLION dollars. Somehow that translates into flop in today's market, but the interest in GL is still there from the die hard comics fans as well as the public at large. All the negative speak has come down the pike primarily from folks that didn't have their pockets lined as much as they anticipated, the rest from irate comic-folk that tend to get their panties in a wad if things aren't precisely as they see fit. The reality is that GL has been a core character in the DC universe and if that universe is going to see future developments of any kind: GL will have a part. If that means that the price of Showcase 22 goes up, so be it. I can say at the very least that I have a piece of history that is becoming increasingly more difficult to find as time goes on in higher grade. To boot, GL may be my favorite comic character of all time. If I add both those things together, that makes one happy Accessndx.
  9. Amen to that. I'd say a good decade in the vault will surely see some appreciation. But I'm not sure I'd want to part with mine even then.
  10. Could you expand a bit on that statement? Do you mean to say that the price has changed to reflect similar trends or are you making a comment about the overall availability in specific grades? Sorry to be a noob. I thought Donkeys can fly.
  11. I hope you folks don't mind me injecting salient articles from around the interweb. I found this slightly older article interesting, hopefully you do as well: http://screenrant.com/justice-league-movie-dc-universe-discussion/ Why ‘Justice League’ Can Successfully Launch a DC Movie Universe
  12. *BLUSH* Aw shucks....'twernt nothin.
  13. Not in my hot little hands yet, but I did win and pay for the auction...
  14. That's the general consensus amongst folks so far. Legitimately however, I can't think of another villan that could be more compelling. Rumor has it that there should be some sort of Marvelesque teasers in both the upcoming Supes movie and the upcoming Lobo movie relating to Darkseid. There's also supposedly some teaser info. pertaining to rebooted Batman.....hence WB is attempting to sew together the mythologies across productions. Honestly it appears to be alot of hurried attempts to pull off what Marvel already did, but then again it may work because people responded in an overall positive way to that formula. Some additional spoiler info. suggests that Ryan Reynolds will reprise his role as GL in the JLA movie with a sequel contingent upon how that goes. And as much as I'm anathema to state it, there's talk about using the "robin" character from the last Batman movie as a 2nd year fledgeling Batman in the JLA. I for one can't live with that if it happens....Bruce Wayne is Batman and is a quintessential character. "Tim Drake" is not Batman and I couldn't stomach them attempting to cram that nuttiness into the JLA. For now it's all rumor and conjection, but it's interesting to see what shape things will eventually take.

  16. Some new-ish news about the upcoming supes movie and it's possible lead into the JLA: http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Zack-Snyder-Suggests-Man-Steel-Lead-Directly-Justice-League-34258.html Finally, the question if Warner Bros. asked him to place Man of Steel in a large universe: http://www.slashfilm.com/man-of-steel-keeps-warner-bros-on-course-for-justice-league/ Methinks it portends good things.
  17. I think this sentiment best expresses my own beliefs when I first started this thread. Alot of folks have been rabidly collecting earlier marvels...while for a myriad of reasons the earlier DCs have been less sought after. I think that trend is going to change with the advent of more interest in DC, be it upcoming movies or whatever else may catalyze increased desirability. I also personally feel that in spite of there obviously being additional older DCs in better condition than the census reveals (unslabbed), that there aren't nearly as many compared to Marvel overall. It would make sense that at least this particular title and issue would have been recognized as a significant key and therefore slabbed in greater numbers over the years. I think there may be a few folks out there will real high grade raw gems, but I don't think there are a ton of 9.0 or higher waiting to be found. Anyone could be wrong of course, but when you just look at the census data and then look at how many higher grades you see floating around currently and/or recently.....one gains the sense this might be a tad bit rarer than one would cite at first blush.
  18. Just wanted to say "Happy Thanksgiving" to everyone! Don't forget the stuffing...
  19. I'm only authorized to give my name, rank and serial number if captured Bob-a-loo. You can beat and torture me, but I'll never crack.
  20. That Greg Reece copy was sweet indeed! Got snapped up lickety split...
  21. I'm tempted to say: If anyone's got BB28 in grade 8 or higher and is interested in selling....you've got a live one here. I'm lookin. Hooketh me upeth.
  22. I think it`s relatively easy, actually. I think B&B 29 & 30, Showcase 8, 13, 14, 17 & 22 are harder. Just for sh*ts and giggles: link us up some of the easy to find B&B 28s in higher grade. I know there's an 8 out there.....and some 6-7s. But they are all few and far between. Try to compare that to the voluminous list of higher grade Avengers 1s. I'll have to respectfully disagree that it's easy to find a bunch of high grade B&B 28s.
  23. There's alot of discussion about DC's haphazzard plan to roll out the movie without the preliminary character movies ala Marvel. That's definitely a bone headed move IMHO, but given that fact I stil think a JLA movie could be a winner. Of course there's also alot of talk about how "great" the Batman movies by Nolan were....my personal take is that they sucked. Bane sounded like Henry Kissenger....and the twist with Ra's al Ghul's daughter honestly blew. I think Bale was too brooding and generally unpleasant. The Superman Returns movie was another utter disappointment. Maybe Man of Steel will be better? I know there's also talk about the new Superman being used in the continuity of the JLA movie. Alot of b*tching and moaning about the GL movie too.....beyond the villan being a horrible representation of Parallax....I liked it. I also liked the teaser with Sinestro and the yellow power ring at the end and I'm looking forward to another installment. If they at WB could even generate a fraction of the interest and scope that they did with the Harry Potter franchise.....a JLA movie could easily be as successful as an Avenger's flick. My biggest issue however is that it's inevitably going to be an "origin" story....they typically suck for fans of the comics....and are at best interesting for folks new to the media. I still think that given those ups and downs that JLA could be a force to be reckoned with.......every single animated thing that WB has released has been gold. Hopefully they can do the same with a live action film. It's unfortunate that they can't be persuaded into taking the same route Marvel/Disney has with the introduction of the basic characters in their own flicks first....but not a total deal breaker.
  24. Just a friendly discussion of this Silver Age key... Since WB just got the rights to Superman all wrapped up last month they decided to fast track the JLA movie. Prior to that it was in a legal limbo, with serious questions about any properties involving supes after 2013. Now that it's all behind them, they've seen how The Avengers movie performed and obviously they're going to attempt to cash in. At any rate, I'm curious how folks feel about this impacting the prices of Brave and the Bold #28...or even the Justice Leage of America #1. The CGC Census report indicates that this comic has 457 slabbed books, 364 of which are not restored. There's only two known pedigrees out there also: Savannah and Twin Cities. The highest recorded sales price was $60,375.00 for a 9.4. Doesn't appear to be any higher known grade. When comparing this to #s of other comics from relatively the same era that have been influenced by big blockbuster movies like the Avengers... Avengers #1 has 1774 known slabbed books. Highest recorded sale is $274,850.00 So what do you think personally? Is this book on track to increase like FF#1, Avengers #1, even Action comics #1 or Detective Comics #27? P.S.-Usually some toolbags in this forum drop some clownshoe comments like every question asked is obvious and unwarranted. If that's your take, then take a flying leap and save yourself the trouble of posting. If you want to productively discuss this topic, then by all means do so. If not, go be an assjack elsewhere. Capiche?
