  1. From Frankenstein to Dr. Jekyl & Mr. Hyde , WT was adept at using classic horror themes.
  2. Would have been easier taking these people to a New York sewer as opposed to going through the trouble of inventing a "shrinking machine," don't ya think?
  3. Great book, Scott! I've always wanted a copy of that one!
  4. Frankie say "Relax." Do as Frankie say, not as Frankie do.
  5. Let's see... Ol' Scratch, electrocution... yup, this one has a couple things going for it.
  6. Indeed they do! In fact, I think the next issue makes up for it nicely. Bondage, skeletons, & The Reaper. Wish my copy didn't have the annoying "image peel," though.
  7. I always liked the first 6 covers of the run, thought the bondage & stuff was pretty creepy IMO. Things started getting weaker with this one, IMO...
  8. Yessir, creepy! I always was wigged out by the wild eyes on crazy mask dude, myself.
  9. Hello Pat! Elated to have you posting in this thread! Love your writing!
  10. Can you post a scan of the cover??? This recent discussion prompted me to try & get back in touch with his "heir" who had contacted me previously in order to try & dig up some more info.
  11. It's no fun being jumped by mummies, but mummies with clubs will just absolutely ruin any grave robbery.
  12. WOW. I'm totally unfamiliar with Ekgren. His work looks like a collage made from organic materials. Very Strange. He only did three comic covers, but they are all memorable. I have been after a Weird Horrors 7 for awhile now, but I haven't been able to pick one up yet. Really unique artist. There is a FOURTH horror cover he did that was never published. Allow me to rehash the tale briefly. One of his heirs approached me about possibly publishing it in Horror Comics Review, but I was not able to afford the one-time reproduction rights he was asking. In fact, he wouldn't even mail me an image w/out some $$.
  13. I love Conan! CTB is what got me actually COLLECTING comics as opposed to just reading one here & there. As such, it is the first series I ever completed, natch. I once flew by myself at 13 years old (give or take) from the Charlotte Heroes Con back to Cincinnati (with a plane switch in Newark, NJ to boot) with a brown grocery bag loaded with about 50 Conan back issues as my carry-on luggage!! Ah, the glory days of eating pizza, playing D&D, drinking soda pop, and browsing through Conans with my friends up the street on a weekend night. Oh, to be 12 again! REH -
  14. Thanks! I wonder what it went for, do you know? I own horror oa from other eras, but have yet to snag some pre-code oa.
  15. Always thought this was an interesting way to do ghosts...
  16. Hey! It's a small horror world after all! I'm with you on grade, too. (thumbs u
  17. Thanks! Maybe you will like these WITCHES TALES as well. This was the first complete pre-code horror run (of decent size) I ever put together. Quite fun. Most were purchased for less than $20 each, of course this was 1994-ish.
  18. A cool cover wrap-up the run, but not quite on par with Freas IMO. (Of course, few are.)
