  1. I'm not a big fan of Pete Rose getting into the Hall of Fame. Not sure who would be the best baseball player I ever saw play. I am not a Diehard eat, sleep and drink sports guy.
  2. Well I'm sure he might have gotten a few PM's asking him to sell a few
  3. I agree, not exactly a good poker player. I understand the need to show off a bit or get some "attaboys" but frankly it diminishes the need to rush right out and get one. Which was one of the reasons as a collector I never put my collection in a registry set. Registry sets are basically ways for auction houses to easily calculate what your collection is worth and make offers. It also gives "certain sellers" an insight into what you are looking for. If you are a Highest grade copy collector you might as well put a $$$$ target on your back. It is very hard to negotiate when basically your hand has been played for you. And frankly you did it. In addition it is very hard to trade doubles because there are those out there that only want your A copy.
  4. My tribute to the "heritage" hog where you are led to slaughter with those very generous buyer and seller premiums.
  5. That's the one. That copy was in my personal collection, notable sales are business sales.
  6. Currently or previously? I owned the White Mountain 9.2
  7. I like Kirby art, I like Schomburg, I like Adams, LB cole stuff is good. Kirby has a very large representation of work out there. They didn't call him Kirby the King lightly.
  8. I do not have a personal collection, I live in it. I do not keep a "good box" hidden at the booth at shows. I do not have an emotional attachment to my inventory. Hit the right price and that emotional attachment is all yours. That does not say I do not love comics. I do not look at them as a commodity. It is the thrill of finding the books, doing the deals, the business/personal relationships and selling books. There is an enormous amount of satisfaction of successful transactions. There are also some out there that you will never please.
  9. As a dealer and not using the auction houses as my personal shopping stores I have not seen or been offered a lot of Suspense #3's. Cap #1 seems to elude me also. I find that when I don't want/need something there are a lot of them. Minute I need them for customers they are never available.
  10. I was born in Yonkers, Not an original long islander
  11. For the record I do not drink Coke Zero. My beverage of choice at shows is good coffee, Grande Regular, 3-4 brown raw sugar and half and half leaning towards the light side. I am not happy that the Yankee's lost 2-1 last night. Houston pitcher did great in shutting them down. I have not gotten my morning Thumbs up Astro's text from Richard yet. I was happy with the NY Giant's draft picks. However, part of me is in agreement with some of the sports talk announcers that Eli better step up this year. Rangers are old and need retooling. Knicks haven't gotten me excited since Willis, Dave, Earl the Pearl, Clyde, Dave, Bill Bradley. I watch, I get disgusted and I change channels.
  12. I've never had any regrets in the comic business. I've been disappointed in the way some people do business in the comic business. I did the best I could with my original website and then I worked with Lou who has helped my business go to the next level. While I know more then a few successful shop owners I would never open a brick and mortar store. Was never my business model.
  13. I thought there was a entire romance genre that covered this type of thing. Be honest and direct. I'm not sure there is a gentle way for rejection.
  14. Yes, there are plans to update the website look to have a checkout/cart.
  15. I have not seen the Dentist Dave's copy of Action #1
  16. International sales have been growing over the years. Yes I definitely see a much wider international base. As with any business you have to deal globally versus tunnel vision "US Only". Yes there are risks but there are also rewards. Not exactly sure why I would give away what is undervalued. I'm already in a very competitive business environment. Do I need to add more?
  17. 1Cool makes better offers. Haven't had an offer from George in a long time.
  18. Feel free to PM me on this but what browser are you using? I can assure Users that when we are "testing" we are looking at the website across multiple browsers, Chrome, IE, Safari etc. Each has its own little differences in display and loads.
  19. Probably the #1 comment that results in a most dealers doing a complete emotional shutdown is the opening question "I'm just curious".
