  1. Originally I thought that distributor spray was used to mark returns. Later on I learned that I Phil Seuling or maybe the other distributor company used distributor spray to mark what region of the country the books were going and that it speeded up the process. I seem to remember reading that certain colors marked what region of the country the books were going to. bob
  2. Hmmm, Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery
  3. I was more impressed when you weren't in the photo. Now the illusion has been broken of what you look like
  4. Well I hope he still stood up straight after he found out what you charged him for that piece of art.
  5. I think your wife survived much better than your comic collection.
  6. Well, maybe someone should email Vincent zurzolo and ask how many Oakland Witching Hour 14's there were. In addition does everybody know that Michael Carbonaro also discovered the Oaklands? I know everybody has a field day on his web manners but he can occassionally turn up a killer collection or two. And for further trivia I was the other grader in the pool of three - Me, Vinny and Mike.
  7. You are very welcome, I'd like to thank everyone that has ordered from the website since my relaunch and also the feedback provided. Some of the items mentioned have already been implemented. The Automatic want list notification feature has now been implemented so if you haven't already done so please register and enter what you are looking for.
  8. Horror tales Mags, I have some of these being graded and raw, great covers.
  9. Am I one of those friggin b####d's you refer to? I wonder if I was even sent this collection list to bid on.
  10. If this conversation were the equivalent of a bar fight I would be by Vinny's side slugging it out with many of you. I cannot believe the amount of energy and idle speculation going on about this transaction. Again, Ian started this post and started this [!@#%^&^] all over again. Vinny responded and the idle speculation on what is going on starts chiming in. I am continuously amazed at the amount of mental masturbation that goes on regarding people's reason for doing things. Why am I selling my collection, If I told the truth it would be bad for business. Vinny is buying this book strictly to F*** Ian. You should "ALL" take a step back and examine the need to comment when you have very little information to work on. And as I have stated quite frankly in many cases it's none of your business. You should be fortunate that any dealer (Myself Included) stays on this boards and listens to most of this dealer bull####. BlazingBob is mild compared to some of the flamethrowers on this board.
  11. I've used all three "major" manufacturers mylars. I've found that Ernie Gerber's/Diamond (I believe they bought them) to be the mylar of last resort. Made to minimum standards, many have rough cuts and sealed along the sides very poorly (I've had a number of them split open). Bill Cole makes quality mylars yet I found that his thin boards are essentially useless. Too thin, warp easily and offer NO protection if the book is dropped. Your other choice is the turbo backing board but is extremely expensive. My mylar dealer of choice is Jef Hinds/Comic Conservation. Extremely good quality, priced reasonably and I've never had the mylars split.
  12. "Me neither, but I still have to look at the situation with a realistic eye and the knowledge than many fellow collectors have been sold similar books, and told that there was no restoration". And for the record please let it be known that I as a dealer have been sold restored books from collectors claiming they were unrestored. Many times I get the innocent "I don't know how it got there". Well, golly gee, I've actually gotten one collector who admitted using his daughters black mascara to cover stress lines. At that point I stated that I would never buy a single book off him. Get off the F**King throne about dealers being the only ones selling restored books.
  13. My biggest issue with this post is that no one involved in the transaction has posted. Obviously Nicolas Cage isn't on the Board and I'm sure Metropolis has their side of this story. Every dealer has sold a seller a restored book at some time. Some did it knowingly and others didn't. Your quote that Nick was pissed and said F*** this and F*** the industry would only be known by Steve, Vinny and Nicolas unless the "Deep Throat" was in the room. Maybe "Deep Throat" would like to post his credentials on why I should believe him. And for you naysayers that why would he buy a restored book makes me question your credentials. It's well known who color touched the Mile Highs, why don't you tell me who did it and why? The Mile High keys have been sold for years with that knowledge. Unlike some of the other threads about questionable Dealers you are definitely opening yourself to Libel and slander on this one.
