  1. 6.5 and 7.0 copies I've sold in the last 3 weeks were very nice copies.
  2. Ahhh, when you see 1Cool putting X-Men #143 in his buying list you know a new movie book has been announced. And the rush is on to buy all of them off my website.
  3. Since I rarely sell on ebay the impact is minimal. Only impact I see is if I accept Adyen as a payment method for invoices.
  4. You don't need "first shot" to make money at shows. I didn't have first shot at Thursday and did just fine. I even made money off buying from Dale
  5. Lack of Sales, Lack of books to buy, lack of customers asking to see books = Bob doesn't do the show. It is never personal, it is all about the numbers. And not just the selling numbers. There are a number of factors that warrant me doing a show and I am always inclined to look at my selling first before I blame the promoter.
  6. I thought you used them as fly swatters?
  7. Buying a slabbed book is buying somebody else's risk, time, shipping risks and grading expenses.
  8. If there is something particular you want me to bring to the show off my website please let me know. I cannot bring all of my inventory to the show. Would have it on hold for you, no obligation to buy it. Just important that at least I have it there for you to look at.
  9. My "opinion" company was called POS. Since filters are in place can anybody guess what it stood for. I used the old porno movie rating symbols since I was looking for the book that gave me a rise. Bob, if you are looking for books that I think give me a rise I'll make sure I mark them the next time I send you one.
  10. Look forward to seeing you at the show.
  11. Which is why I referred to them as a toll collector in my earlier post. For those who want to get the breakdown when going down the grading path lets see who has their hand out 1). Post office when you ship it 2). CCS or whoever you chose if you decide to press it (Optional cost) 3). CGC to grade it 4). CGC invoice handling fee 6). Post office or carrier of your choice to ship it back 7). Ship to CVA (Optional) 8). CVA cost of putting a little exceptional sticker on it (Optional) 9). Shipping back to you (Optional) 10). Ebay or whoever you chose to sell it through consignment fee 11). Paypal fee if payment is electronic 12). Shipping cost to customer With all of these little tolls along the way I still wonder why some wonder why CGC books cost more then raw books. Or is the truth that everybody else is making money off the graded comic book except you. Hmmmm
  12. I'm on the website - https://www.cvacomics.com/index.php/2012-04-16-16-56-28.html Looking for those "exceptional standards" which are not defined. Are they looking at sharp corners, color strike, cover alignment, staple placement, white pages, can books with writing or date stamps being CVA exceptional to the no writing purists? Which makes me question whose eye appeal are they appealing to? I've seen some CVA miswrapped books. Not exactly something that qualifies to me as having good eye appeal.
  13. Sorry, Marwood and I. CVA adds no value to a book. It is a poor attempt at a company trying to make money by saying that this book in their opinion looks nicer then other books in the same grade. And where are they getting those other books to compare them to? A database of all the graded copies of the same issue? Comparing it to other 9.4's that they have as examples? I can go through my inventory and pull lots of "barely made it grades" and stick the Bobby Storms thinks this is a really nice 9.4 sticker on it. Does that mean somebody will pay more for my opinion? And did the buyer who paid 3x for a book buy it because it had a CVA sticker on it? Maybe he looks at CVA stickers as being upgrade candidates? And all this by looking through 2 layers of plastic.
  14. CGC is grading "by committee", you are grading "by individual". Unless I'm missing something has the hobby universally accepted Marvood and I Grading standards? Possibly. But there are still those that wont accept the grade unless it is "graded by committee" and in a holder. I can grade a comic, however the first "monkey fingers" at a show can quickly take my raw 9.2 down to a VG+ with a nice well place thumb taking out the overhang. Little harder to do that with a book in a CGC holder.
  15. Adventure #260, Showcase #9, 10 (Lois Lane is not a superhero),
  16. So why hang out on the CGC boards? Oh wait, you want to hang out with some balls.
  17. CGC uses Lords of the Rings Gas? Does it range around in the holder looking for Mordor? Does Sauron gas work just as well? Inquiring minds want to know.
