I've bought a couple 100 original owner GA books to market lately so I'm not sure exactly why people assume I don't have Golden Age. If you are talking about the classic tough issues I am out there looking for them just as hard as anybody else out there. But typical of some of these thread comments GA collectors tend to assume that I just focus on Silver/Bronze. And it is also possible that when I get them I sell them . Museum pieces are nice but I prefer they sell every once in awhile.

I always wondered where in the Overstreet price guide it clearly states that Golden age is graded looser than Silver/Bronze? I look on Page 175 of the Overstreet price guide grading definitions and I don't see it anywhere. But yet CGC grades looser. I also missed the paragraph where specific manufacturing defects and the idea that Mile highs with Color touch are unrestored is written. But hey, what do I know. I'm one of those guys who specializes in Silver/Bronze High grade.

CGC has been in business since 2000. They just started charging for notes in the last year. If a dealer doesn't know how CGC grades by now I'm not sure they ever will. That is not to say that I know exactly what they will grade a book but I have an idea. And if I'm off I generally will call to see if I missed something.

Why does it matter what grade he is buying? Shouldn't a dealer know how to grade all grades? I feel that every dealer has his sweet spot of grading, the grade they overuse. If you find that sweet spot you will generally have very good dealings with that person.

I could be wrong on this but I don't think Steve is doing the raw grading at heritage.

Dave kapelka is the only dealer I know that has used these. I have about 25-30 of them. If somebody wants to buy them I'd have no problem selling them. They are a little heavy so the shipping cost depending on where you are might be a problem

Now while I'm happy to get some free press on this book I'm not sure throwing it into the "face job" camp is something I'm happy about. This was bought from a seller who bought it off Comiclink so I'm the third in line. Was it pressed, maybe but not by me or the previous owner.

The FF #11 9.4 passed my bidding also. I was very interested to see it pass the $10K mark.

To be user friendly and to assist in the "transition" CGC could have enlarged the numerical grade to assist dealers for selling at shows while keeping the same font size for the alpha grade underneath. Would not have taken up my label real estate at all. But hey, what do I know about being helpful to the seller or buyer of CGC comics.

I've been around since 1973. I've gone through a number of dealers using their own grading "standards", Overstreet's and CGC's as well. I was not a fan of CGC going to a straight numerical grade. With many of their changes they very rarely consult anybody who sells their product on what they are planning on doing. Frankly I get VERY few people asking me what the alpha grade translates into numerically.
