  1. Hmmm, was this at the lunch we had?
  2. So does Doug's X-Men #1 9.4 White page sale for $137K count?
  3. Here's my new Iphone/Droid app - ComicDealercode. Every dealer is assigned a barcode. You scan the barcorde app for dealer reputation. When the Avoid like the plague response comes up you move on to the next table.
  4. Frankly I would question the toronto store's decision. Why would you keep a business name that is associated with such a bad reputation? Any booth with 1,000,000 comix on it's label is NOT getting my business. And if I was in Toronto/Canada doing a show what would happen if both Gerry and this store setup? 1,000,000 Comix of the US and 1,000,000 Comix - Toronto? I have seen 1,0000,000 Comix at Wizard Chicago and also at Reed New York. I do not know what other shows he sets up at.
  5. Just got a call from Gerry asking me if I bought comics. I told him "No". His reply was "Isn't that a waste of a Overstreet ad". My reply "No, I don't buy from 1 Million Comics". Have a nice day Gerry. Bob
  6. All is well. Business must be busy in Hoogieland since we never see you anymore. bob
  7. Avengers #2 9.4 went very smoothly. Thank you sir. bob
  8. AF #15 5.5 transaction went very well
  9. Make up shirts that state - I paid $100 for this? Hell, might as well make some money on this
  10. Actually I would loan that sketch as an idea for a new Trojan Man commercial
  11. That sketch would be the equivalent of me selling you a VG and callling it a NM.
  12. Frankly the argument that pressing alone will bring down the high grade market by itself is a little overstated. Every new collection pressed or unpressed coming into the market will potentially compete with what's already out there. But let's not just punish the highest graded copy collector. Because let's look at what happens when a "It sold for how much" conversation takes place. Upgraders start running around and other guys start looking for equal graded copies. Being the first guy with the best copy will set the bar. Whether that bar is raised or dropped all depends on how the next copy is received. Frankly I feel that Art collectors like having the only one. If it's a good piece there is no fear of another copy of the same piece coming to market. All they have to worry about is whether a flood of material from the same artist comes out. And for the record Comic art collectors are just as BSD conscious as high grade comic collectors. While comic guys run around at shows with books under their arms they carry their portfolio's. A comic art collectors version of a pressed book is sticking another collector with his one of a kind art boat anchor. Disclosure - I liked the piece, doesn't mean anybody else does.
  13. Tim and Gene sit around counting Krugerands. It's not about the money, it's all about stacking gold coins in their money vaults.
  14. Cal writes likes to post using the 3rd person Yoda style. Hmmm, Iron Man & Sub-mariner, I see you want. Grade, hmmmm, me thinks I have it in that grade. Hmmm, cheap I see with your offer, Hmmmm.
  15. Grass always looks greener? Nowaday's they trim off all the grass.
  16. Frankly I'm a little surprised that you would put Quicksilver in this thread. I know Richard for a long time and would never put him in the same league as Darryl. In fact I wouldn't even put him in this thread. Have either of you Quicksilver posters ever spoken to Richard about the book or books you weren't happy with.
  17. Got a note the other day while I was at the Detroit show. I've always wondered about the people who stamped or wrote their names on their comics. Well at least I know about one now Hi Bob, On a whim, i went searching for my name just now and found a reference pointing to your online catalog for a copy of Fantastic Four 34: Offwhite pages, HERB DOLPH stamped on splash page. Always wondered where parts of my collection ended up. Back in the dark ages, I used to stamp all my comics like that, so there are a lot of comics out there with that distinction. That issue was once part of a set of 1-50, all store bought by yours truly, along with just about every other Marvel of the period. Would love to have held on to that number one! I assume that most of the early copies have all been slabbed and put away into vaults. Sad that no one actually reads them anymore. No fun in owning plastic. Enjoyed going through your site. Nice selection of books. Best, Herb Dolph
  18. Wouldn't George of GPA be the person we should get an explanation from?
  19. More Fun #54 8.0 with white pages I owned had centerfold detached at bottom staple, CGC graded a 8.0 bob
  20. Why not? Follow that with a couple of threads proclaiming "Why are Silver age Marvel prices soooo high?" We all wanna be that buyer who gets in low right before the spike in prices. Is that what GPA is going to mean going forward? Gonna Pay Alot
