  1. I bought a bunch of books of Tyler. They arrived from Canada to Australia in 6 days. Yes. 6 days from Canada. Not only that, when they arrived they had been packed beautifully. It's rare to see such care taken with packaging, even from comic lovers. You want more? You got more! Tyler even threw in a free gift - a comic in beautiful condition, that I didn't already own and that matches one of my collecting focusses that he knew about. Frankly - all I can say is WHAT A BLOKE!!! Since posting a WTB thread, I've not only ended up with the majority of the set I was after at a great price and in record time, but I've also enjoyed chatting about comics and beer with Tyler every step of the way. Tyler has also helped me out looking into other books and has provided me advice regarding other transactions I'm in. One of the most genuine and nicest boardies here. If you're a prospective buyer, I cannot recommend Tyler to you enough!!
  2. Hehehe.. Yes. Sorry. I was doing a "joker quote" pun... to your pun. I thought we were being funny. I guess I was wrong. My missus often tells me I'm wrong about how funny I am when I think I'm being funny.
  3. Nice!!! I'm having real issues trying to find a flatbed scanner in my region that scans legal-size documents. I can get the HP pro printer/scanner that does fit it - but I didn't want to spend 500 bucks, given I never print anything. I was hoping to get away with a simple scanner only, for slabs, for 150-200 from the local office works or something. So far.. no joy.
  4. Sneak peak of my new project! https://twitter.com/dntfeedthemnkys/status/324009562707484674/photo/1
  5. Think my "colour issue" is based on this: http://procreate.si/forums/index.php?topic=524.0 (As this is the app I am using to paint with on the iPad). No retina display here... but it is a very bright backlight all the same. The blue I used exported as purple... I lowered the white level a little which added more blue into it, but it still looks terrible in comparison. Thanks for the tips and advice.
  6. Thanks Buffy, Thanks Senor!! I don't hold my own against both of your creativity or skills, but I damn enjoy giving it a crack! :-) Buffy - yeah, I did an "auto-calibrate" on the work screen but it got worse. It is probably 8 years old.. so that could be a factor there. The pic above comes up alright on the iPad still. And just saw Soft-Serve's work. what a master!!!
  7. Another iPad painting using the PROCREATE app and a Nomad brush. Learned a LOT doing this one... primarily about colour and computer displays... this looks completely washed out on some monitors... too dark in others.... the colours were perfect on the iPad but now I've tried to edit it for PC viewing and so it's a bit bright on the iPad now... Basically, the mileage varies GREATLY depending on the monitor you're using.. which makes me wonder about how many artworks I view from this machine that don't look how they were intended. Interestabubble. Either way... this is a portrait attempt of my missus. There are so many flaws with it that it's not funny and it does her no justice.. but it was still fun to try and do! Think this is about as good as I can go without starting over.
  8. I have not taken any art classes myself. I have had some tips from artists, and watched a lot of youtube artists do demos and explain techniques... Have you given this a try yet? I prefer this to classes - I really only care about tips for my problem areas; I do not want a history lesson, nor waste time on things that will not help me. I did it at school 17 years ago... I'm gonna try the YouTube option first. So much to learn!!
  9. +1 with a question. Do you use a stylus to paint like that or your finger or what ? Maybe just the mouse Thanks Bane! :-) Señor, I used a nomad brush stylus (nomadbrush.com) - it seems silly but it's brilliant. Normal stylus with rubber tips drag in the screen. It doesn't feel natural to me. But the NB has no drag. Similarly, the procreate app has very little screen lag. Really good combo together! My next one is about 90% done. Will post it soon. First attempt at a portrait.
  10. A sunset at a local creek... Painted on an iPad 2, using Procreate and a Nomad Brush. Been really enjoying dusting off the old drawing skills - and I owe a lot of inspiration to this thread. A long way to go before I get good, but I'm enjoying the journey! Thanks guys! :-)
  11. Just got back from a meeting to find Christmas in April on my desk. That's an SS slab, a raw variant and a 1/6th amazeballs figure.
  12. Have been playing a little Black Ops 2 on the XBOX when I'm not still getting a ton of replay value out of Batman Arkham City. But, I've really been enjoying "Real Racing 3" on the iPad recently. I love the "time shift multiplayer" element. Do any of you guys give that a crack? If so, feel free to add me: - Game Centre = dntfeedthemnkys - Facebook = PM me and I'll add you.
  13. Lyria Exchange is a link your LCS owner probably never heard of and you can use it as a resource to find those books trending. Shhh! keep it under your hat though. Well they damn well should have!!
  14. Congrats Rosen - awesome haul!! I haven't picked up a single issue of this physically. One regret I have. This. And the issue can't launch quick enough either...
  15. I read a headline on Newsarama that some weird shiznit is happening in the next issue. I didn't read the preview though.. no spoilers!!
  16. Ha.. yeah.. No spinning function = not a spinner. Didn't think that one through. HAD searched for spinners and got that in response.. but either way, I am still a big bell end right now.
  17. I loved the idea of a spinner rack. Didn't have the spare 7k though... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1939-DC-Comics-Superhero-COMIC-BOOK-RACK-/350226315990?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item518b1d7ad6&_uhb=1#ht_2153wt_936
  18. Thanks mate - very kind. Yeah I hear you on the cheek bone. I've got a wee bit in the leather, but the face is too blank and flat. I'll remedy that with more practice!! :-)
