This is another great cover by Mike Rooth.  The signature and the Remarque are a nice touch.  It looks great in my collection

@dena - I’m not sure if you’re the appropriate admin to tag, but I wanted to flag that the SSL cert has expired (41 days ago) for boards.collectors-society.com
While this isn’t the main URL these days, there is still a bit of registry functionality tied to it that this breaks - such as the auto-generation of forum signatures etc.

very broadly, do as others have stated and post in the 'please grade my comic (or whatever the name is)' subforum and find out your grades as CONSERVATIVE estimates.  Then go on ebay and search for 'sold' prices of your books, using the lower of the grades and the lower end of the price range for both SLABBED AND RAW BOOKS.  Then go on the CGC website and calculate how much it will be to submit all your books, including shipping and insurance and grading and invoice fees. Probably factor in the opportunity cost of tying up your money for 8-10 months, if that matters to you.
Decide for yourself if it seems like your personal subjective value thresholds are met (they are different for everyone).  You may also consider taxes, maybe not, depends on your situation (as does most of it).

Slabbed books are great for obtaining issues that are impossible in HG.
Oftentimes, you can locate slabs and get them cheaper than raw.
There are some books, Thor #210 comes to mind, where I bought about 10 raw copies over the span of 20 years, hoping they were truly NM, and being disappointed every time. Of course, I purchased quite a few of those #210s before CGC copies were abundant.
Again, though, I live in a remote place, and haven't had or made the opportunity to shop in person since the mid-90's. I reached a point in collecting where going to comicbook stores was a waste of time, as they rarely had anything of interest. The last convention I attended was something like 1994 or so.
The conventions these days appear to be a disappointment waiting to happen, with high admission prices and few comicbook dealers. I was at the state wrestling championships in Portland about five years back, and there was a convention next door - I looked at it, and it appeared to me to be just a bunch of Walking Dead B.S. and cosplayers, for a high admission price - baah. I knew it would be a headache as well as a waste of time, so didn't bother.

I have a love/hate relationship with that book as I purchased it for £12.99 from my local comic shop in the UK when it came out - itself, a bizarre occurrence given what we now know about it - and I then sold it some years later for £500.
The love aspect is that, at the time, I was an ASM completist and I had that book that seemed to escape everyone else. And then, when I sold it, I clapped my hands at a £500 profit. I thought the book had peaked, and one day would be available in the £20 bin as so many other 'hot' variants before it did.
The hate comes from the fact that I got it so wrong. I should have known what would happen. I had experience. But I did not see that eventual escalation up to new car prices. I hate that I couldn't have bought a new car with the damn book that I probably (being in the UK) had no right to have picked up in the first place.
Spidey completists are the most extreme, the most focussed of all completists. Yes, I stopped, but had I been in the thick of it, had the money, and that book had turned up with a $20K price tag...? Well, who knows. There is no logic to it. Only the desire to have it and your ability to afford it. There are people in the hobby for whom $20K is nothing. They'd pay that for the bragging rights alone. And this book is now mythical. Its contents are irrelevant. Story-wise, it has little to commend it. But it's an Amazing Spider-Man book, and it's rarer than hens teeth. I can't see it ever going down now.
    Look at it. Bloody comic.

About 80-90% at this point in time.
I've started to chicken out on some of my larger purchases - mostly related to getting older, and realizing I've got to find some way to extricate myself from this hobby before I die.
I also try to keep resale stuff intact, or if I'm not happy with the book. Nothing like getting a CGC 9.4 as an upgrade, and realizing you have a raw 9.0 that is a better copy. I only buy online, so don't always know what I'm getting until it is here for live inspection.
As far as the common stuff that fits in my collection, I crack all of that.

Per an email from Gerber today, they are no longer even taking orders on boards, and won't even be taking backorders on boards until February.
Current turnaround time on the mylars is 10-14 weeks and harshly limited to ration them out.

Thank you! I was happy to snag that newsstand. When they announced the in house for Jock, I kept debating send it until it was actually late making it there. Although it has been received at CCS for the Signature so now just the wait till next year sometime.

I have a 9.8 that I had been thinking of getting signed in the CGC event from like a month ago, but I was afraid I'd get a stricter grader and it would come back a 9.6 or something. Ha ha. Didn't want to chance it. I sent in a couple other titles though, one of them being his cover of Gideon Falls #1 since I'm a huge fan of the series.
