  1. Wait I thought first appearances had to occur within a story? It is a story. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=6433136 So it's a preview! Nice.

  4. is there something happening with it? I wish something would happen with Batman '66. Something did. It got cancelled. Yea and it's unfortunate, decent series, great covers and Luchador Bane.
  5. Here's a terrible Auction... https://docs.google.com/document/d/10uwM3siFzTuNkYQj-h3xHnOLFEEEZfcpjCbizAzJWWA/edit?usp=sharing

  7. This issue will easily cause a big argument. Ultimately I don't think many people are swayed by other people's arguments in these cases, but rather just buy what they want, and when there's a clear indication of what most people want, many fence-sitters jump on the bandwagon and a clear winner emerges. I've been firmly in the appearance in a story camp, but my gut tells me that this variant will be the book to have. The question then is why I think it will be viewed as more of a key. The print run is one factor (as I expect speculation on the Howard issue to drive up the numbers). But I think the more important factor is that the cover is creative content, rather than marketing (e.g. previews or ads) or editorial (e.g. sketches is news mags) content. Sure, previews usually include story content insofar as there are a few pages of the advertised book included, but the point of inclusion is to drive sales of the book with that story, rather than to tell the story itself. This would also help explain why, even though I acknowledge that Uncanny X-Men Annual 14 was published before Uncanny X-Men 266, I still think the latter book is the bigger key. It's clear in my mind that creatively Gambit was meant to be introduced as he was in 266, but the scheduling of the issues necessitated shoehorning an explanation of who he was in the annual. For the record, I own one copy of the Deadpool book (and obviously any of us can own any number of the Howard book that we want). And I own several copies of the X-Men Annual (including 2 at CGC now), and only one copy of X-Men 266. So it's probably in my best financial interest to stick to "first published story," but I think what's posted above is a better reflection of what I, and many collectors, find important. I wonder if Gambit were on the cover of the annual but did not appear in the story if we would have considered that his first appearance? I think we would have. Covers tend to make all the difference-see the first appearance of Spider-Gwen or Archangel. Neither Spider-Verse 2 or X-Factor 24 are really their first appearances but the majority of collectors believe that they are. Based on how most collectors define an "appearance," I think Spider-Verse 2 would be the first appearance. (I assume you're referring to the costume tease in the Hawkeye/Deadpool comic, which my understanding is generally considered to not be the actual character, but rather someone cosplaying or going to a costume party?) As for Archangel, I do believe he shows up in shadow in the background of some earlier issues, so you would be correct there. Gwen and the female thor are walking the streets in the middle of what appears to be a costume party. As far as I know No storyline has confirmed that they are or are not the characters but either way it's the first spider- gwen costume.

  9. Either way, I've got to think that this will be the book to have. Especially because now people will hoard the Howard book. No love for Gwen-Hulk?
  10. there's a pinup with shatterstar in the book, the pinup is a team that looks A LOT like the new x force. Think of it like the Wolverine ad in DD 115. Nah, this comparison doesn't work! The DD book shows the cover to 181. NM Annual 6 is more like a prototype. Think of Foom 2 I had to look up why that book was selling so well. I mean out of nowhere it takes off. When I saw it was Shatterstar I just rolled my eyes. 1st X-force what a stretch. I understand that X-Force is going to be a film but NM 100 had a massive print run. Even though it's the first X-Force I would think the amount of copies out there would destroy the chance of it ever selling well. Maybe the 3rd print is a better bet. I like that cover a lot more and the print run on the 3rd print is probably lower than the first print. To be honest I can't believe there are even conversations happening about the value of X-Force comics. I remember when X-Force 1 came out. The whole thing kind of turned me off to collecting comics for a long time.

  12. I looked at the prices. That's breaking even or losing money. Few are making $10. Not worth selling now. I have been watching these for 2 days. If it is sealed they are selling between 175-200. A couple of days ago you could get them for around 130 from Brookstone with a groupon. But now everywhere appears to be sold out. I am not sure if Sphero is planning to ship more but if they don't these things will sell for much more leading up to Christmas. Of course Sphero is going to ship more. This is not a limited release item, it is a toy that will be everywhere in time for Christmas. Notice how all the Hasbro Star Wars action figures were snatched up as well. TRU has a lot of The Force Awakens merchandise, but little to no Star Wars action figures. This is exactly like the first release of a new iPhone, XBox, Playstation, hot toy, etc. The first releases always sell out and in 2-3 months, these BB8 will be available everywhere. If you are impatient and need it now, you will spend more for it. If you are patient, you'll get it for retail or less. I never understood the "need it now" crowd, but that crowd ensures their will be ample supply of hot items in the future as the companies ramp up production to meet the demand. Whether Sphero makes more or not depends on their capacity to do so and I cannot say either way if they are capable of meeting the demand in the coming months. I was responding mostly to this... " I looked at the prices. That's breaking even or losing money. Few are making $10. Not worth selling now." I was simply stating that it's inaccurate. They have been selling well!
  13. His first comics were in Japanese and are impossible to find. I am not sure what his first American comic appearance is. Maybe the 2003 series I checked to see if he was ever in the Valiant Captain N series but he was was only on the animated show and not in the comic. You may want to check again! I am almost positive one of the Valiant Nintendo oversized softcover TPBs teases MegaMan on the front cover. Wish I had time right now to refresh my memory. The NIntendo Comic System TPBs do not have him on the cover. I do own the sneak preview but I don't think he is in there either. From what I have learned it looks like they couldn't get the rights to use him in the the Captain N comic but they may have been negotiating his use as he was mentioned in the last issue of the Game Master series. Unfortunately the series never released another issue.

  16. ...ehhhh....they're alright. A lot of scalpers are going to get stuck with these. I played with one at Brookstone. It is an incredible little toy. As far as new Star Wars toys go I'll take this over a Holocron or the force levitator.
  17. I do not like anything about this auction from the title to the bidding. Does anyone see this issue as ever being this valuable? The only thing is it is the first time Deadpool breaks the fourth wall. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Deadpool-0-app-Blind-Al-Gwen-Stacy-Bucky-movie-coming-SDCC-hit-/301719658823?hash=item463fe4a147
  18. Is that cause Jason Todd is the Joker in the SS film? No, That's Movieplot madness. Joker is Not Jason Todd. Jason Todd will be in a solo Batman film as Red Hood. I may be in the minority but I actually like the idea of the Joker driving Jason mad leading to his emulation of the Joker. If Robin were turned into a Joker disciple then there is no need to really show the Joker in the film. In my opinion allusions and well crafted references to the clown prince would make for a better film.
  19. Come on man, there's no one in there worth impressing.

  22. 2037 is going to be a glorious year. Man, you're ambitious. I thought 2050 at the earliest. I'm a dreamer. I'm sure we'll get a proper relaunch of Darkhawk in the near future. The original title ran for 50 issues and is very fondly remembered by many. That will spike interest. I am kinda surprised he hasn't already.
  23. Retail for the comic is pretty high though ($7) My opinion: Black Mask has been worth my investment. My shop has been a destination as many others don't stock them yet. I like the material too. ALL of their properties could be other forms of media, so I think of them as mid-long term modern plays... Orange -500 Green -250 Purple -100 White -50 The book may be a good read but i have to pass on terrible covers. Your opinion... Anyway.... I kinda like them. Solid concept that draws in an existing fan base doing homage covers of classic gangsta rap albums. My shops cover is loosley based on Boogie Down Productions (By All Means Necessary). Feels "indy" Didnt picture you as a follower of gangsta rap albums. Was BDP gangsta ? I like the cover, copying the famous picture of Malcolm X peering out the window with his rifle: KRS-One used the same pose on BDP's second record. BDP started out as "gangsta" rap, but then switched styles. When I see the photo of X I think of a man who is protecting his home at any cost. When I l see the YT cover it isn't clear what the man is doing. My first thought is a cliche of what a young, rebellious, modern black man who is about to launch a rocket into a theater full of people watching 2oolander. would look like.
  24. It's a GRAPHIC NOVEL FOR $7.99. Best deal on the shelves today.... My bad.. It's full color, original material, 84 page square bound for 6.99. great value IMHO. I'd love to see similar price point from other publishers. Yeah, has 'issue 1' in the indicia and 'continued' on last page. Anyway, read half the issue over lunch and the story has me hooked. Will definitely be adding this to my pull Sounds like a perfect torrent file to search for. Stealing young creator / publisher content isn't my style... I like to support interesting material with a purchase. I like the way you phrase your response as if pirating comics only robs the poor struggling creator and has nothing to do with the fact that you sell comics. Pirating comics doesn't always hurt the little guy and personally if I read a digital comic for free and really love it I am going to invest. That means buying comics, original art, going to convention signings and on and on.
