  1. Cable had Wizard, Deadpool has the internet. I think we know who wins that battle.
  2. Yes, want to put a wager on it? Me too I am quite sure it wont. Speculators can manipulate and push the price, but they wont see NM 98 prices with any consistency. There were still 200 people last night in the theater for Deadpool. It got an applause ending. Several people asked on the way out who is Cable? He just wont have the mainstream effect Deadpool has. Don't get me wrong he will pull some decent coin for a long time now, but not Deadpool money. I think both will do very well for a long long time. I could see them in multiple movies together crossing over into the x-men movie universe. As far as the movie crowd not knowing who Cable is to me is about the same reaction about Deadpool a couple weeks ago. I was watching the Superbowl with friends (mixture of ages) and very few knew who Deadpool was. I remember just recently my parents asking me about him. I think now he'll be a household name but he wasn't before this film. Same will be said about Cable soon. When Cable has his own Video Games, Merchandise and multiple series like Deadpool I will believe it. Otherwise he is just supporting case. The only way I can see it happen is if they Tie in Apocalypse somehow which can drive his popularity some. It really is crazy how things change. Cable was the most popular mutant during that time period and Deadpool really was just another in a long line of creations collectors didn't care about. It took many years for Deadpool to get where he's at now and it's because people gave him a distinct personality to go with the killer costume. I'm not sure Cable can ever be anything beyond a supporting chararacter at this point and as someone who grew up reading X-Men, Cable represents the start of a long, long decline in the quality of x comics and superhero comics in general.
  3. I have done more research that you can possibly fathom on this. There is no Deadpool appearance prior to NM 98. "prototype" is the key word. I have also found no "prototype" in any Marvel or other industry publication!
  4. Agree with you on 86. It's an ad, not an appearance. 201 is only an "appearance" due to retcon. Doesn't count, IMO. 86 is a second appearance via ad. 87 is his first cover/appearance in a story. The market has determined 87 to be more valuable for two reasons. 1. This issue has a long history of erroneously being considered his first and it takes a lot of time to change people's perception of what is accurate. 2. It's a sick cover, much like X-Factor 24. I tend to agree with you on 201 but if I can play devil's advocate for a moment...If Marvel retcons the character to advance their own narratives then I wonder why so many of us don't see things like ASM 4 ( first Alias ) and Marvel GN 17 ( first Apocalypse ) as first appearances. What is is about the retcon that turns collectors off? The market seems a bit more receptive to a book like the MGN 17 as of late so maybe time are a changin'.

  6. 2nd App........HAHAHAHA If anything it's third appearance.
  7. Batman Adventures 12. What movie or tv show started that rise? Kids growing up on Batman TAS becoming adults. It sure as shoot wasn't a result of how DC screwed up the character with the new 52. So you're saying, 17 years after the show was on, those who grew up watching it decided to suddenly hunt down the comic with her first appearance? No it must have been the 30k readers of her first solo series and Gotham City Sirens that led to the demand for that book. Surely it had nothing to do with all those kids that grew up watching that show at any point during the decade plus it was airing on television. Harley wasn't introduced to most comic readers/collectors through comics. BA 12 is a bad example because no one knew about it being her first. I remember Mad Love being a wildly popular book and one that people would pay a premium for.
  8. I'm sure you can find something else to spend $3-400 on than an itchy & scratchy 1 9.9 Doesn't that go for pretty much any expensive comic purchase? Buy what you want. This is true. Personally, I'd go the 9.8 route on it and save myself 300+/- bucks. But, based on the last recorded sale (3-4 years ago), $300-350 for the 9.9 doesn't seem like a totally off the wall number. I agree. Just go with a 9.8. I doubt you can tell the difference between a solid 9.8 and a 9.9. I thought this was a forum for junkies who prize rare graded books. Why are y'all tryin' to get this guy to settle? I say spend the extra 300 and buy the more rare book otherwise what's the point of collecting anything that's encapsulated?
  9. Those Peter Panzerfaust's aren't blowing out the door's at the prices people are trying to sell them for - I'd be real surprised if 5 years from now they held onto even that value, which is a huge fall from where they were. And that's what we're talking about - holding real value over a period of time. Preacher had juice before the announcement, though it has definitely risen, but it'll be interesting to see how much of that spike it holds after things have died down. Outcast has a long way to go before it proves anything. The only thing worth watching on Cinemax is the Knick.
  10. when was the last time a movie from an Indy title affected the comics price. Very true. Unless it's a big two adaptation, there are small spikes that don't last very long. Does D/H's Hellboy count? I would say no because he was a cult favorite before any movie. I also don't think the movie(s) did well commercially. Not to say they weren't good, but again, not near a X-Men or Batman. when was the last time a movie from an Indy title affected the comics price. Sheltered I was thinking he meant long term and something that actually gets made. Every book that gets optioned sees an initial jump. You can get Sheltered for $4 now and it was an easy $20. So buy now.
  11. True but I think it's worth repeating considering how high it is with that much time left. Do people here not often post links to books that are currently doing well and have done well in the past?
  12. Here some that are heating up. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Do-You-Pooh-1-Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-TMNT-Homage-Marat-Mychaels-12-25-/121880669389?hash=item1c60a76ccd:g:kvkAAOSw--1WrW1X http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hack-Slash-1-1st-App-Cassie-and-Vlad-DDP-Tim-Seeley-2004-High-Grade-NM-NM-/262269795366?hash=item3d107f7c26:g:b0YAAOSwFMZWrm6B How can people get away with this kind of ? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Bat-Man-570-9-8-9-9-solid-1st-App-Harley-Quinn-c-my-other-auctions-/291672167710?hash=item43e904151e:g:QrEAAOSwX~dWqm7N
  13. Sorry to hear that . . . Here's one described as NM- with the "continuity" qualifier in the title that sold for $42. Where was the $1.25? I'm seeing mainly $15+. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Batman-570-NM-2nd-Appearance-of-HARLEY-QUINN-in-DC-Continuity-1999-/331746338136?hash=item4d3d9f6558:g:WjUAAOSwqv9V6RRm Keep up they aren't talking about Batman 570 its another Divad book he is advertising/bragging he sold. There's no bragging or advertising here. As a collector who bought most of his books off the rack, or bought other collectors' collections, I very rarely have more than one copy of a book. This book sold and the sales information is passed on to the community to put it to good use. I've never hoarded any particular book or speculated on any given issue by buying more than one copy. I admit I bought two copies of Hulk 181 when it came out, because I thought it was a cool cover. " I admit I bought two copies of Hulk 181 when it came out, because I thought it was a cool cover. :)" -you sure it wasn't because you like second appearances?
  14. Nice to see some other kinds of modern comic work doing well, http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chris-Ware-This-American-Life-Decoder-Rusty-Brown-mini-comic-Comic-Con-badge-/301856657681?hash=item46480f1111:g:eDYAAOSw5dNWpZKr
  15. I'm not every sure the variant is worth it, the market is still flooded and it can be had right now for under 4 bucks. It's too bad though, the story is pretty good. I am not sure if anyone has mentioned this book but there's a trailer out now and only these auctions are left on Ebay. I have not read the book or seen the trailer though. Any thoughts? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Term-Life-GN-2011-Shadowline-Image-1-1ST-NM-/131709962861?hash=item1eaa868a6d:g:I7oAAOSwX~dWpT3X http://www.ebay.com/itm/Term-Life-2001-Image-NM-9-4-Graphic-Novel-New-Movie-Starring-Vince-Vaughn-/252265545676?hash=item3abc32bfcc:g:KicAAOSwUV9WpZvM
  16. Meaning the true Harley keys.... Batman Adventures 12 Batman Harley Quinn nn Are safe. What about some of the other early Harley stuff like Mad Love, and Batman: Harley and Ivy. Not keys in the same way, by were key in establishing the character outside of her relationship with Joker. I would say a lot of the early Harley appearances are undervalued like that Batman Gallery book that predates the Batman Harley Quinn nn. In a lot of ways she is like Deadpool in that her early appearances are now being gobbled up probably because she didn't suffer from overexposure early on. she didn't suffer from overexposure early on Hilarious. She had roughly 20 appearances from her creation to 2000 as an animated character in comics and around 6 appearances in the DC universe from her intro in the Batman Harley Quinn to 2000. She may have been popular for a multitude of reasons but as I said she did not suffer from overexposure early on. Good to know. Thank you. It means most of those early appearances (before 2000) should maintain solid value, 20 appearances in 6 or 7 years is next to nothing. Title characters are in books every month (and if you are Batman multiple books), and nobody complains. For now she is an A list character. BA 12 was also reprinted via trade in 1994 and I believe the trade also has a 2nd printing. These two books are super rare and with the prices of the comicbox BA 12 reprint being what they are I wonder why these trades aren't more valuable. Maybe collectors just don't know I see them on the bay/amazon all the time around 20-30 bucks.. The never get much "heat".. Theres a cool spanish/mexican edition with the cover of BA12 on it, but the problem with that book is that the content is NOT from BA12, just the cover.. the next issue has BA12 but a diff cover.. Weirdness There are at least 6 more editions not shown here including three of the rarest being Argentina, Croatia and South Africa. As we all know, this book was not popular at it's release, so it's strange to have so many international variants, all published within a year or two of the American edition. As a foreign collector, I can tell you that this is a unusual amount of international variants for ANY book. I still want to know what's in those 8 extra pages in th UK version.
  17. While that price is high those books have sold well for years in almost any grade. Several years ago a boardie on here tipped me off to that book. I bought 15 copies and around 10 sets of the 1-3. I did very well and sent some cash his way. It wouldn't matter how many copies you have you can sell this book at all times of the year and in almost any grade. I have been amazed at it. The Marvel Super Special is the one that is really tough to find. I can sell that book without a picture it sells so well. The back cover is classic. I might even cut out a back page and have it framed I like it so much. I remember ordering over 50 copies of the MSS 40 from Mile High web site when he had it at 80 cents per copy. This was around the year 2000 and I flipped them for an average of $35-50 per book back than. After my discount and free shipping it came out to 50 cents a book delivered. Oh the days when Mile High way littered with bargains. Man I haven't even found a copy in a long time now. Yes the days of those big places having deals are harder to find now. They have finally caught up pricing wise. Hollywood is remaking another classic.

  21. That one's pretty cool because it's an internal document from Valiant 1993. Photocopies were made about 10 years ago, but the originals with provenance like that one are the ones that get bragging rights. is it actually hot? or just rare and valuable? I know sometimes they're both, but sometimes they're not. It's probably a bit of both. Valiant has been hot for a while thanks to the rare combination of quality writing/art and film announcements.
  22.
