  1. You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but I couldn't disagree more. I really enjoyed the show. There were a few minor things I didn't really like (re: costume), but, overall, it was excellent, especially in comparison to the other comic-themed shows on television.
  2. watched it quick cause I am fussy about spoilers Foggy kills it in episode 10. I'd say if you don't like him after 10, you probably won't like him at all.
  3. The show just needs to more than just a vehicle to push other properties. It should be a standalone show. Many times it just feels like a commercial for CA or Thor or Avengers. It should be more than that. But maybe I'm in the minority in my impression of the show, I don't know. And I do actually watch, so my opinion isn't based on hearsay.
  4. +1 His hair annoyed me in the trailers, but after watching the show (especially the college flash back), I got over that little bit. As far as acting, I think he did quite well. There are a few times in the show, not many, where it felt like actors acting. But part of that is it being a first season. There are lots of very successful shows, where you go back and watch them from the beginning and think...... wow, they hadnt found the character yet. You dont realize it at the time, but after many years of seeing them play a character, its noticeable when you go back. I always try to cut TV show first seasons a little bit of slack in that regard. I didn't like Foggy or Karen at first. All of the 'Foggy and Karen getting drunk on the town' scenes were bad, but as the series progressed, they both grew on me. Foggy is especially necessary because he injects a bit of levity into a dark, dark show. They needed someone for that without cheesing it up too badly. Overall, I liked them both. As I said before, my favorite Karen-centric scenes were those with Urich, so we'll see how she does in season 2. Man, what a great time to be a comics fan.
  5. considering that most of the same people think Flash is great I would take it for what it is. Haters going to hate. AoS is excellent, and is only going to continue to grow in terms of ratings and connections with the MCU. There are going to be two shows next year, and two gap filling smaller shows. Likely it will be because of Civil War, and it will revert to one show and one gap fill afterwards (though hopefully not, if things are strong enough). Disney owns ABC and Marvel. Marvel has proven themselves, and their projects and view are all long term. The people who think AoS is going to not get renewed are very very far out of touch with the new reality that Marvel has created. AoS rating are more than good enough, and stable, and it serves a very important supporting role to the MCU. It's not going ANYWHERE, for many many years to come. Haters are going to have to just stop posting in the thread, or tuning in, cause it will out last all the shows they think are great I watch both the Flash and AoS and, though it's been hokey in some episodes, the last two Flash episodes have been really good. Besides the two newest, there have been 3 or 4 episodes that I've thought have been great. AoS, on the other hand, has me continually on the verge of dropping it altogether. It just doesn't feel dynamic and fun like the Flash does. It doesn't feel like it has strain to establish a tie to some other property. In short, though it has its faults, Flash doesn't feel like a nearly useless appendage to a much larger, funner universe. Daredevil is tied to the mcu, but it stood alone as its own entity. I loved it. Don't get me wrong, I'm still onboard (barely), but AoS could be so much better.
  6. I had serious doubts about his character when they first introduced him but he played the part so effectively that I bought into it very quickly and he became a favorite. In fact I've bought into his character faster and deeper than I have been able to with Foggy and Fisk. I'm still having trouble with those two, and I'm at episode 9 (or is it 10?) I just think to say he's too old is silly. The actor certainly doesn't seem like he's on death's door. (I do think George RR Martin has a good chance of dying before he finishes writing GoT, but that's another issue entirely)
  7. That would be dumb if they resurrected him. I just really liked the actor. He anchored the Foggy/Karen/Urich search for answers scenes he was in. I don't think he was too old at all to play a beat reporter in the mcu. As one of the best actors in the ensemble, he'll be missed. I think he was great, I loved him too. But as you say, its dumb to undo emotional events. He definitely wasnt the right type of actor to cross-over into the movies though. Marvel wants young actors who can give 10+ years to the story (or more) Samuel L Jackson is no spring chicken. Nor are other characters such as the lead scientist from Thor. He would have been fine in the movies. Or just as sort of a media liaison for street-level Netflix shows. This is all moot, though, since he's gone.

  9. I didn't get that at all. But tone is tricky to figure out sometimes.
  10. Because even someone from the future who did extensive research into someone's history including physical appearance, characteristics, general knowledge, etc. would have great difficulty emulating the person: ie-favorite color, food, likes, dislikes, etc. Additionally: even someone from the far future wouldn't have intimate knowledge of putting together a particle accelerator. Imagine you went back to 1890 and tried to build a car or a blender or anything technically sophisticated. In spite of the fact that they're commonplace and you're 'advanced' relative to the folks in the 1890's you would be hard pressed to build it on your own. Furthermore, Wells APPEARS to exhibit genuine remorse and regret over the loss of his 'wife' in the accident. It insinuates that Thawne shares at least the memories of Wells if not other characteristics. It's possible that they'll reveal that he has Wells' memories, but it's not a given. I haven't seen anything on the show that suggests they're going in that direction, but that doesn't mean they won't. All I've seen is RF pretend to be Wells (after he used his device to copy him) and Wells' corpse dug up in Starling City.
  11. Why do people keep saying RF took over Wells' body? My understanding is that he shape-changed to appear like Wells a la the shape changers on Fringe. It's still Thawne, he just looks like Wells. That's my understanding anyways. Regardless, I've rea enjoyed the past two episodes.
  12. I could possibly see Showcase 4 overtaking AF 15 due to supply. There are just so many more copies of AF 15 than there are of Showcase 4 (about 84% less universal copies on the census). Here's the universal breakdown: Showcase 4: 225 Universal Hulk 1: 781 Amazing Fantasy 15: 1443 Now, I can't really see the Flash really overtaking Spider-Man in terms of popularity, especially with Disney becoming involved with the movie property. But there's not a lot of unrestored copies of Showcase 4 (per census) to go around.
  13. WOW. And, well,... dammit. If they released a Restored Color bluray I'd go buy it right now. The difference is HUGE. But what are the odds they'll ever release one? Wow. What might have been, eh?
  14. If you have to explain why a 'look' is cool, it's not really cool.
  15. They tried that with ET on Atari, but it eventually got dug up.
  16. I'd say it's decent. Great is a stretch. No. It's great. -J. It has it's days - some episodes are better than others. But it surprises me how decent it is. I think the bar is generally set low for super-hero stuff in general. Breaking Bad is a great show. The Wire is a great show. The Flash is watchable.
  17. I'd say it's decent. Great is a stretch.
  18. That was Marvel making the book more inline with the movie, not vice verse. They did the same thing on the Morrison X-Men run with their costumes after the first X-Men movie.
  19. They need to bring Ward back. Him turning out to be a bad guy was the best thing about season 1, and him burying his brother was probably the best thing about season 2 so far.
