  1. I think this price seems fair. Especially with movie annoucements

My prediction is that we will see no more bids on this (although I hope I'm proven wrong).

GPA shows a 7.5 sold at $4063 this month and a 7.0 sold at $3227 this month so $3999 for a 7.0 seems a little suspicious to me.

Now, if they make a big Dr Strange announcement at SDCC then I can see the next jump in price.

It's a nice looking 7.0. Maybe the bidder is hoping to resub for an 8.0?

  2.

People realize that Dr Strange is not another Antman. Strange will not be there for comic relief in between the major movies of the phase. Rather, the Strange movie will be the center piece of Marvel's third phase, as Feige has said. The third phase will be the magical phase. It fits in with the Harry Potter and Twilight crowd and I think it is likely to become immensely popular. People want to get in on this before prices get out of reach. Also, if someone is looking for the next AF15 and wondering what it could be.. then perhaps Ditko and Stan's other major character besides Spider-man could be a good choice. :gossip:

Don't knock Ant-man :sumo: But I do love Dr Strange :luhv:

  3. It does look bad in a way for image to heave their guy E.S. in charge and he can't keep a deadline. I don't know IMO it sets a bad precedent. 2c

While we're talking about ES, he has to be one of the most thin-skinned people I've come across anywhere.

  4. Can someone explain why, as an artist whose only job is to draw comic art, Nate has such a hard time--supposedly--turning in work on time? Is this not his only job? Maybe Nate's inability to even mail out OA that a boardie paid him good money for after a two-month delay with no explanation suggests what kind of guy we're dealing with?

  5. A 9.0, btw, just sold for $10K in the sales forum earlier today.

That was pretty wild. Is that the biggest sale on the board to date?

Not by a mile. Not too long ago filter81 sold a TOS39 9.4 I believe that was in the six figure range. :insane:

  6. i don't think prices will go crazy if/when this is announced...there's just too many copies floating around to see a major spike. It's not early 60's DC we're talking about...

Very true. But there are a few mid 60s keys in that group that stands to benefit greatly from a movie bump. I never thought Tec 359 would be going nuts the way it's gone the last year. Lots of copies there, but people are crazy about the book. HOS92 will be even more popular than ever before in a Del Toro flick.

'Justice League Dark Movie In Very Active Development'

Director Guillermo del Toro is out trying to promote Pacific Rim, but it seems people are most interested in asking him about a Justice League Dark movie. Last week, Guillermo del Toro revealed that Justice League Dark could fit into the Man Of Steel universe.

This week, Guillermo del Toro revealed that not only is a Justice League Dark movie in development, but it’s what he describes as “very active” development. In and interview with Collider, Guillermo del Toro said, “Justice League Dark is very active. I’m doing one more revision while we wait for the writer. It’s somebody big, [and] we’re patiently waiting for that writer. I think it’s worth it, I think it’s a guy we all admire. I’m doing my revisions on my sort of Bible, on my story for the film. I can tell you it’s the writing project I’ve enjoyed the most in English. Devil’s Backbone and Pan’s Labyrinth are in Spanish, but of all my writing and screenplays, this was so much fun because it was character. It was a pretty easy plot, but the character interaction, Swamp Thing with Deadman and Demon, it’s so joyful for me to write that. Constantine is such a great character, so dry. I think it could be a great movie. I don’t want to do many changes until the proper writer comes onboard.”

At 2013 WonderCon, director Guillermo Del Toro took part in a panel to promote Pacific Rim, but he also answered a couple questions about the Justice League Dark movie.

Guillermo Del Toro revealed that the lead character in the Justice League Dark movie would be Constantine and that he would be blonde. While Constantine is blonde in the comic books, he was portrayed as having dark hair by Keanu Reeves in a 2005 movie. We take Guillermo Del Toro’s statement to mean that Keanu Reeves will not be reprising his role as Constantine in the Justice League Dark movie.

This deserves its own thread. So many awesome undervalued keys with great characters.

  8. I don't like to see these wild price increases on Silver Age books in such a short time span. Too many speculators in this game ...

... or people who want to own one before the price goes up more

Too true. Is this a rational market at work because demand exceeds supply? Or is it, to quote Alan Greenspan, "irrational exuberance"? It reminds me too much of the Spring/Summer of 2006 ... and what happened after that is history ....

You should preach that to the folks over at the BB28 thread. lol ST110, even at these prices, is pretty affordable. By no means has it peaked. ST110 has a low print run, key-ness, and an upcoming movie going for it. Same cannot be said for BB28 (where's the movie?).

I anticipate prices for ST110 will go even crazier after SDCC, where Marvel will presumably officially announces a Dr Strange movie.

  9. hm ... what would a 7.5 go for nowadays? $3800 doesn't seem out of the question.

7.5 has gone from $1975 to $3000 in just 3 months. So you're right.... give it another month and it'll be at $3800. When did you buy your 7.5?

I am feeling like a genius right now. I bought two 7.0s, an 8.0, and a 9.0 this last year. I spent some money but I can tell already I'm going to do great. The 7.0s have almost doubled in price.

Snapped it up here on the boards in April for, what was at the time, above GPA. I'm so glad I bought it. Insanity. You know things are truly nuts when the raw 3.0s being listed on ebay for $600 a pop start disappearing. I predict that'll happen by Labor Day.
