  1. I agree, but I prefer the larger font when viewing a rooms listed threads. But always reduce it once when inside the thread reading posts. Why, I dunno. Ze- And it is funny to see everything bolded all of a sudden.(somebody is working late tonight)
  2. Archietecht "Every man should be king of his castle. And in this here castle, I am the king. "
  3. To quote Archie Bunker come on. 'Tis the season to be jolly, so be jolly.
  4. The boards are alive.....with the sound of posting. And to think people were worried. Ze-
  5. But I wanted know the exact times when things were going to be updated!! To the second!!! In fact, could you send out an email, and place a call to each board member on their cell phone to let them know when changes will be made, that will be much easier. Or better yet drive to each members house and give an onsite tour of the new forum so everyone feels comfy. Carry on ye of the Arch
  6. All kidding aside Arch, even if you do not agree that the color scheme causes eyestrain. Could you let us know when different color schemes might become available? Because I hate running the forum in a window.(but it helps lesson the eyestrain immensely) and have recently switched to Email to carry on numerous conversations where I would normally like to carry them out here in the new pm system. Ze-
  7. Click on the little smile face next to the Font color box. All the little buggers are hiding in there. Ze-
  8. It really was an age of wonder. Do you have any old Sci Fi toys as well as funny books? Ze- I do, but not much. And nothing that is rare or valuable. Good to know you are human like the rest of us, on at least some level! But for some reason what you may consider not rare, or valuable might still be pretty cool to see when you tire of posting comics. Ze-

  10. I like that it is free, and the PM system. The preview feature for both posts and pm's is also very nice. But if they install a bubblegum machine type coin slot on our computers and make us pay by the minute.. I'm outta here. *insert sarcasm graemlin* All kidding aside this change reminded me of when I played EA Golf online years ago. When 2k3 came out all the big clans switched to it.. a large faction who liked 2k wanted to keep the old version and hated the new. Eventually everyone had to comply or else not play in ranked tourneys. After a month nobody remembered what the old version was even like, same thing will happen here I assume as time goes by. I am just hoping to see a change made in relation to the font size, or how the page is laid out. As it is now if I make the font larger so I can read it more easily with the resolution I am running, it pushes the right side off screen making me scroll to read it like it would if somebody loaded an extra wide image. I assume this happens because I am using a wide screen monitor?.. or does that happen to any monitor no matter the shape? There are numerous little things that I am not overly happy about, but most of them are hopefully being addressed and I look forward to seeing them implemented. Ze-
  11. I’m flabbergasted — never has my flabber been so gasted!
  12. Brent , a little humility would suit you sir. (anyone remember what movie that's from?)
  13. While some do not like having to crease a 2 mil to make them lay flat, I think putting the comic on a full or halfback before placing it inside whatever bag choice is what is really important. Too many edges can catch on the bags opening if there is no backing board.(learned from Mr. Nelson I might add) Not to mention Mylites seams can split on you sometimes too, so why take the chance. Half or Fullback in a 2 mil if you like closed bags, or 4 mil if you like open tops. 2 mil offers greater clarity , 4 mil offers greater rigidity. And of course allow plenty of room when sizing bags/boards for GA books. Now continue with the nice funny books BZ. Ze-
  14. A very worthy display BZ! Except light those firecrackers away from the books! Happy Fourth everyone. Ze-
  15. Kudos to Fazybones who recently did a great job sending me out my books in a timely manner and also plentiful. Nice books Fay, graded correctly graded and shipped safely. I am terrible about leaving Kudos even though I basically have not had a bad experience on the boards. If I did I would stomp and holler. But everyone here seems to know what they are doing and I dont think anyone needs to hear me give Kudos to Nick, or Andy among other marketplace poweresellers. Their heads are big enough already. Ze-
  16. For the love of pete!. why o why was Steve not in this photo? That was the first thing I thought of when I heard he was going, and was waiting for some photos with the him and the Yellow Kid. This was a really great walk through Mark. Was a treat to see so many different items in one place. What made me laugh the most was the Ipcress File board game. Now that spells FUN for the entire family! But the thing that caught my eye the most was that Kane Batman poster. I think I might pull an Oceans 17 to break in and get that puppy. Whos with me? Ze-
  17. Maybe he was calling his brother? I am sure there could be some snazzy photo motion thingy Flee could make with these two photos. But I lack the skillz and had to panhandle just for this still shot.
  18. Steve made a thread about getting ready to go to an event, not the actual event itself? I think I will make a thread too as I am getting ready to go to the store and they have some comics in the kids section I am excited to see. I will call everyone while I am there to talk about it, and post photos later. Wish me luck! Ze- j/k , hope everyone had a great time. It is a place I hope to see someday myself. And I hope Steve B's family situation is as well as can be hoped for. Been thinking about you all week Steve. Kenny
  19. We could even keep it comic related by taking suggestions for the name similar to how every new "letters" page was named by the readers of a paticular comic title. My suggestion for a CGC OT room? And now for something completely different. Yes I know it wont happen, but it never hurts to whine... I mean ask.
  20. Ease off the throttle there Sal, you won already. I was just replying to your question why people felt compelled to dillute CG. And my analogy was more in line with CG is like a bad buffet at times. Removing certain elements from it does not make it better, just less to choose from. I understand the rules as they are now, and will be fine with working around them. Kenny

We do not monitor buys and sells. Please check out your buyer or seller before you commit to a transaction. Look, since Arch seems unwilling to budge on this issue everyone will just have to work around it. But c'mon.. having a place (CG) where all of us can post an occasional topic we would like to get feedback from our friends is not exactly a far fetched notion. For the most part we are a close knit bunch, and self policing seems a better way to control it. Trying to preserve the sanctity of CG by editing out certain material while letting others stand is like trying to separate all the bad all you can eat buffets from the ok ones in Vegas, you can't. All you can do is work around them, visit the ones that suit your taste, and stay away from those that you dont like. We all know for the most part the serious comic talk is contained in specific forum rooms. Not CG Why this is even an issue at all still baffles me. Then again, I like variety, while some it appears do not. Even if it is the occasional Birthday or public announcement. Where is the line drawn? Ze-
  22. Or you could just turn every other one around and save the $$$ You can do that with your books!! I would prefer a nice beefy fullback protecting the book when I pick up one of BZ's books, thank you very much.
  23. Agreed, this thread is what it is. A singular event. The storage talk was fun though, I think if some of these gems are still stored in stacks without backing boards, that might soon be remedied thanks to Bill's insightful comment. That minor roll effect will only continue to grow worse the more the books remain stacked, I say.. board'um! Board'um all! I will help do it For free! Ze-
  24. With the exception of the microchamber paper at the centerfold, that is the EXACT same method I used with Centaurman's books (he asked me to help him organize his collection), even down to the sizes used. The books end up well protected, in a fairly inert environment, and looking great. I liked the way the looked so much that I switched some of my own golden age stuff into the same package. I wonder how much of all the advice that has been recommended would be wise for me to follow and how much is just for the individual collector's peace of mind? I can see how Mylar and backing boards are good. The Mylar offers protection and shows off the comic nicely and the backing board aids in keeping the comic flat and prevent warping; but do most of you think it is necessary to use micro chamber paper? I've always kept my collection in a darkened room in the lower level of the house where the temperature year round is in the 60's. Am I overlooking something? I wonder because a large part of my collection I've had for over 30 years and it seems to be doing OK thus far. BZ, my 2 cents. You certainly have a system that seems to be working for you. Your books are in fabulous condition considering their age. Probably from lack of handling more then anything else. But considering the quality, and value of the books I would strongly suggest you invest the time and money to make sure they have as great a chance to remain as they are, 30 years from now. I think buffered boards and micro chamber paper could only help, even if they dont end up doing all that much. Every little bit helps in preserving a collection like yours. To err on the side of caution would not be considered overkill. I would like to see those incredibly deep colors stay as bright as possible for years to come. Ze-
