  1. Just wanted to offer kudos to Nochips for a couple of really nice books. The PS is extra nice. And to gern for offering me a book that he saw I wanted but misssed out buying, the offer was generous and very much appreciated.
  2. Sharon, how come when you say Centerfold I blush, j/k
  3. Neat idea for a thread! Consider me in need of an interior to a Subby #5 if anyone knows of one.
  4. Then you would you have to buy the TPB so you could see all the art!
  5. You draw a mean Wimpy though, that was new.
  6. I drew this recently. OK, that's a lie I am not that good. My 4 year old did it.
  7. Steve, stop beating around the bush and tell us how you really feel.
  8. I admit I didnt read all the recent posts, there was over 65 when I logged on. Glad to hear it was resolved, somewhat at least.
  9. ....or make the time to answer that phone call. I look at it this way.. I contacted Buddy by e-mail. He responded and said that he would rather handle the dispute via phone vs. e-mail. I replied back that I would rather handle it via e-mail, and gave him a few reasons why (family, time, convience, etc.). I also like having the paper trail and record that e-mails provide. So if a problem isn't resolved, I can refer back to what was said and when, with no doubts. So he wanted phone, and I, the customer wanted e-mail. Does that make me in the wrong in any way? Both are forms of communication, and I did indicate that I wanted to communicate with them about the issue, and was always willing to communicate. While I somewhat understand your reasoning to not call, at this point I think you already have the paper trail you wanted which led you to where we are now. At this point you could possibly clear this up in 5 minutes over the phone what might take days even weeks if handled through email. It cant hurt at this point is what I am getting at.
  10. While I only skimmed the thread it makes me wonder how some places keep their doors open treating long time customers like this. As mentioned earlier it would be nice if Buddy came here and offered up his side of the story and the rational behind how this was handled. Not that I dont believe shakespear, but it sure would be a good read to see him explain this away. If anything post him a link to this thread so he can see how mis handling even one customer can trickle down more then he might think. Sticking to your story can sometimes be more harmful then just admiting you messed up and moving on. All of this over $200? Hope it was worth it to him. Good luck
  11. Just wanted to take a second and recognize Mac Mans effort to make right on a recent transaction. He not only made himself available to hear my concerns with a recent purchase, he went out of his way to make it right. I wish him all the best in his future sales, Forrest is a good guy. Ze-
  12. Not quite sure where to post this, Thought this was as good a place as any. DJpinkpanther just called me as I was heading out the door to the Hospital, Long story short he wanted me to pass along to those that he was buying from that he has been away from the internet recently, and that he is sorry if he left you hanging(especially you Nick) He said he is going to be having a huge sales thread soon to try and raise money to battle his wife for joint custody of his kids.(it appears he has not had a good week) I need to head out now but he asked me to make a post about this and said he will be on hopefully tomorrow or Friday and for everyone to save their pennies for his sales thread.. Bye for now,
  13. It's not mine, I wish it were, unless posting a quote of the book makes it mine? I like the sound of that that, the book is now mine, please mail it to me Bob.
  14. BG copies continue to blow me away everytime I see one. Great books everyone, makes me want to go buy a Ped, right now!
  15. Amazing indeed, the guy in the photo should take his hat off to you guys. http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b217/lotsofmags/newsstand.jpg' alt='newsstand.jpg'>
  16. Good lord, I logged and feel like I somehow got re-directed to the Ebay chat board..or is this an IMDB thread? This was a joke , right? Yikes
  17. Hi Jamie, I think it would have just served you better to write up your explanation without all the " sorry to burst your bubble, comics were not created by elves stuff" because that is insulting in itself. We have talked about this stuff quite a bit over the years in an effort to better understand exactly how our beloved funny books were created. And as you said it is still a very grey area for many here. We are all ignorant of different things. Dice meant no harm, he was just commenting that your post might have had too many notes. He knows a thing or three about the press himself, so please lets all start over and continue the conversation. It is of great interest to more then you know, but most people simply read the threads and do not comment. And funny that you mention there are no video tapes about printing and comic production because in a recent conversation with Steve(Dice) he had mentioned seeing a box of old Sparta training tapes that were being thrown out and thought nothing of them at the time.(correct me if I am wrong Steve) Hindsight now tells him he should have grabbed them. The production methods, and people behind how comics were made over the decades is endlessly fascinating to me, so I hope you do not get put off by our funny graemlins and quips and stick around and pass along your personal experience with all things comics. Kenny
  18. Nice, please post an update no matter what you find. Love stories like this. Good luck.
  19. Keep um coming, I am sure most of you already did this, but for those who didnt here it is lightened a bit.
  20. Great find! I love seeing old Time Capsule photos like this. I lightened the image up a bit, at least we can now see Bailey's face. Or whoever it was working the stand that day. Thanks again for sharing and I look forward to seeing the others.
  21. What a cool book. I imagine this was just one of a myriad of production related mishaps, most of which ended up in the garbage. Hopefully Dice(or somebody) can explain how a cover was actually fed and cut at such an angle, upside down no less! I imagine it could have been a double cover except it shifted during the stapling process. What sticks out to me is the portions of the outside cover that tanned exponentially compared to the paper resting next to the misfed cover. Very interesting, what a cool book.
  22. Nice books, at least it came back in a Blue label! It coulda been graded lower as well as purple.
  23. Glad your books arrived in one piece Allan, but that sure sounds like expensive shipping! If you pay for my airfare I will gladly hand deliver any books you may purchase over the next year, and even bring some eggs too. Kenny
  24. Holy miswrap , were those scanned on the same scanner? That PC looks mighty nice. So, what ya gonna do with all your free time now? How bout another grading contest?
  25. Correct. The "Extensive" restoration was a quarter sized piece replacement. Hey Bill, what a shame on that Tec book. I assume Matt did the work? ( bet he was not pleased it got extensive) Makes me curious how much CT was done aside from the piece fill. Was the entire spine spilt (and then repaired?) If so I guess that is what it pushed it past moderate? (you have before scans.. would love to see them) Personally, I dont care if there are the usual suspects done to a book when restoring it(cleaned, sealed, reinforced etc). To me..a book with many procedures does not an extensive book make. But more how much one had to add to the book to bring it up to grade. Then again we are looking at it as moderate being more desireable then extensive..so I suppose it's hard to see things for what they are sometimes. If that makes sense that is. Either way, what a fantastic looking book. And would be the book I chose between the two.
