  1. Did you have 2 copies of that Great 1 get flooded Gary? That one has different stains then I remember. But the pencil looks very familiar. Or did the stains/moisture migrate even more before you removed it from the innerwell?
  2. How big a holder did they put that in? Holy Spine Roll! I know some people are not fond of pressing, but this book could certainly benefit from having it removed if the staples/centerfold are up for it. Nice book either way. Beats my copy all to heck, cause I don't have a copy.
  3. Nice bedspread Ankur, deserves to be a bit brighter. Nice AF15 in your sig line btw.
  4. Wow, that has to be the biggest parachute cover out there. Congratulations, seriously. I bet you are thrilled.
  5. Love it, tree especially. I cannot help but ad lib a caption to this photo. "So what, so I got a McDonaldland playset, you got a problem with that? How bout I stuff you inside this box and then see what you think is so funny."
  6. That would be fantastic to see the Mags. And is the video up again? I lost it when my old hard drive got burnt. Post it again if you have it. It really was amazing to see just how much material went through that plant a week.
  7. Not to pick nits here. But I have been led to believe over years of discussion, that the calcium based components in boards and MCP "offest" acids and gasses.. rather then "absorb" them. Hence why CGC magically recommended swapping out MCP every 7 years even though it looks the same. Not because the paper is acidic, but because the papers calcium reservoir was depleted...rendering it non effective in combating off gassing. A buffered board(to me) means the board is buffered throughout. Not that it has a "buffer" on top. One would think a buffered board can draw upon a reserve more then a thin layer. Keep in mind, I am tired and my thinking hat is not on. Just trying to promote the discussion with a few thoughts after reading the recently bumped thread.. Paging Scott Bonsofgasky..to the front desk FFB.
  8. Dangit!!..your comment made it sound like the interior was a baby's breath away from disintegrating! I may just call, and not tell you on purpose to be super mean.
  9. Never got that far, was just thinking out loud when I saw the book. So to save me from pestering the folks down south, what were the notes on the interior? That said, you would be surprised at how we are beginning to see PQ upgrades with conservation work. Even on entire interiors. It's just not cost effective on all but the most key books.
  10. I would respectfully differ. I think that unless the market for all comics slackens considerably that the base price for the Big 2 (action 1, tec 27) will be 100K for anything complete and at all presentable. I think the buyers for this and the comiclink copy both got pretty good deals considering the longterm, and while there may be other deals for this and tec 27 that come along, a buyer can't count on copies appearing the way they can for lesser books. the reason I dissagree is that "that" time is now... nicely restored or low grade copies are already at the 100K entry point...but we have had 4 sales now, in the past year, all at 72K and under, for franken restored copies, and low grade/restored/brittle... so, I contend that the market is about as high on "these" type of copies as it is going, because there has never been as much demand as there is now, and prices for "comparable" type grails have already escalated to the point that if these copies were going to be 100K copies, short and far sighted folks would be willing to pay that now... you "always" have to overpay for an action 1 or tec 27, so I don't consider these "deals", but near end pricing (for these particular copies) (thumbs u In the case of the CC copy that just sold? I wonder if it might have been bought with the intention of removing the old Amateur resto/tape. Restoring it again trying to raise the apparent grade as high as possible. And makes me wonder if that played into the price paid for an Amateur, brittle paged copy. The one thing it has going for it though is that pesky but important little word. "Complete" I of course could be totally wrong. won't go much higher with brittle pages...isn't 3.0 the highest cgc gives a comic with brittle pages Makes me wonder if that designation could be upgraded with washing/casting etc. Like I joked about earlier, just how brittle are they? We both know the term "brittle" can cover a LOT of ground. So if only a few outer wraps were "brittle", I would say the entire PQ could be upgraded with some work done. Not unheard of. Hard to say though without seeing the interior.

  12. Didn't have enough time to really read this whole thread, but saw enough to know who the real dorks are! What's funny is while I have always been immersed in Fantasy stuff ever since I can remember, I never played D&D once. Maybe they didn't invite me. Question though, it sounds like you had to have a really decent Dungeon Master to have a good experience. How exactly did you dorks pick out who was the best storyteller, weaver of tales, knower of all rules and spells? A role of the dice, whoever had the most stuff, or was he elected?
  13. All depends on just how Brittle the interior is. SB, MB, EB, or PCB PCB being "Potato Chip Brittle"
  14. Ultra Humanite had a crippled body, but a "Super" mind. And used it to battle Supes, until Lex came along that is and stole the show. (thumbs u
  15. Rick, what coupon is on the inside cover of #7?
  16. Here ya go Mike, all your favorites. Kids, comics, and Greggy all in one video. I hoped you watched and learned something. Be it how to handle your comics, or what to call Greggy.
  17. Mike, I just posted about Ellen's Peanut Butter Pine Cone Bird feeder in another thread. Was I supposed to post it here? I can't keep up.
  18. Sizable?..more like ginormous! That said, I would still not mind owning it. For the right price of course. Will be interesting to follow.
  19. it is I miss it so, but the sale of it helped toward the car I am driving, plus, I will buy another copy someday I'm sure. it is a very nice book if you don't mind spine splits, and it has very nice pages as well. Car?, you should have walked more and kept that book.
  20. C'mon now Roy, you know it isn't that easy. That's like saying any steak is worth $15 a pound because it's a "steak".
  21. I'd put $1000 $2500 into this book and have Kenny make it a 6.0 It really is the perfect copy to restore since there is already a ton of previous Amateur work done. I could see taking all the old tape, and resto off. Get down to the original copy and then decide what to do with it. Leave it as original as possible, or restore the heck out of it. Both hold appeal for completely different reasons. Great thread, and books all around btw.
  22. I don't mean to rain on your parade by showing off my copy, but mine is far superior! Except my copy isn't enough to join any club other then... "Rat Chewed Anonymous"
  23. Sorry, I had not read this yet. Somebody ask Rick a question to get back On Topic.
  24. Someone get this man's washer ready and a fresh pair of pants ASAP! Well I wouldnt have shelled out 43K. But somebody else apparently did. (thumbs u I would have. That book was one centerfold away from being a complete Action #1. Do you think if a centerfold comes to market that it's going to cost more than $100K? I don't think so. Looks like somebody got a steal IMO. Its pretty hypothetical isnt it? One centerfold away and then it might be perhaps this - perhaps that. Again IF a centerfold turned up (and didnt cost 100K ). And the issues inside remain undescribed for all who dont know the book. Its a big world of 'If's'. A steal ... I dont know How are the interior issues undescribed to most? The label clearly states the centerfold is a color copy. The 7th-15th wraps were married. And there are pieces out of the 19th-26th wraps that affect the story. ALL IN CAPITAL LETTERS And if I am correct you can call and get more detailed descriptions. Not exactly "undescribed issues" imho. I think Roy was probably right, somebody got this book for a steal if they have inroads to a complete interior. Which I understand is easier said then done, but not unthinkable.
