  1. Lois calls him her "Superboy" - the kids hovering and wearing a red cape. I'd call it his first appearance as Superboy. Regardless, the market will determine what is considered his first appearance. Agreed with the market statement. It just won't be anything to do with JLK future character as others are promoting. Don't trust the market, trust your eyes. It's Convergence 2. Even if you aren't a fan of first babies this one is a bit different. If you read that comic it's a pretty important moment in Superman's history. For collecting purposes I totally agree he was born in Convergence: Superman #2 and should be apart of ones collection. That doesn't mean the secondary market pricing will reflect that obvious point. From a speculative pov it is important but the market has it priced the cheapest of JSK appearances a year plus after release. The market is aware of his birth in that issue but apparently doesn't place greatest significance at the moment. Maybe as the character is further developed and takes center stage in Super Sons the market will shift but I just don's see it happening. At current pricing most everything is worth picking up as a spec ( except maybe the SLC#1 variant cover) IMO

  3. Jonathan Lane Kent is not Jonathan Samuel Kent....so, if the character depicted in Superboy 19 is Jonathan Lane Kent than we are referencing the wrong character IF the character in the upcoming Super Sons series is Jonathan Samuel Kent. There is no reason to believe it won't be Jonathan Samuel Kent.... Good Lord ... We need arrows and charts and Ross Perot
  4. When my mom was really mad at me she added my middle name for emphasis. That is my ?
  5. First appearance of the idea is still better then the second appearance of Jonathan LANE Kent ala Superman and Lois Lane. The argument isn't even "oh hes a baby in this and an adult in this" it becomes irrelevant when you see his first REAL appearance. He appears Superman and Lois Lane #1 in the New 52. Where? Know your DCU! Sell your Superman and Lois Lane #1 variants now. Listened to recent podcast...enjoyed it thoroughly ?... Superboy's first appearance was brought up. Here is my scenario .in a upcoming Super Sons book , Mom (Lois) gets fired up and yells at her son... Jonathan ___ Kent get your butt in the house. ... Who is she yelling at Lane or Samuel ? Does this change the opinion on the cannon being used? What is first appearance of who she is yelling at? The idea of the character or ?
  6. Would it matter? Comparing Rai to JLA doesn't compute. There are micro runs of independents that don't move and there are large print runs of books like Batman that sell like hot cakes.
  7. Venom #2 second print Agreed. I had the first print on my wall at Heroes and had NUMEROUS people ask me for the second. I've never actually seen one in person. Tough book and BEAUTIFUL too ! Trying to get them out of other collectors hands is damn near impossible... for good reason ! Which Venom... I'm guessing the 2011 series with the red background  . I couldn't find any listed on eBay or other sites. I could be wrong, though. Venom #2 2nd print (2011)

  9. Do you think all this heat on these new Michael Turner variants is genuine or just speculators selling to speculators? S2S You believe the people paying $125-$150+ for the Batman Turner variants are speculators? they are doing it wrong then I think someone said this about the Batman 1 1:200 sketch variant during the New 52 launch once upon a time. Well, I could name a book to illustrate the opposite. I will say that the Batman 1:200 sketch is more than likely far less printed and didn't go up exponentially overnight (even before release for that matter).

  11. This guy alone sold a lot of the not-"rare"-either" "direct sales" upc version that had 25 copies. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Justice-League-New-52-Issue-51-Recalled-Edition-Lot-of-25-Copies-/152138527569?hash=item236c29b351%3Ag%3AnQAAAOSwGIRXaVAV&nma=true&si=xbID1M6Roi55pQZ3XgzvrSjCRBk%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 They aren't "rare" either. -J. I am very well aware of that auction :-) My question to you is what is "rare"? I see Variants with 1500-3000+ print runs that sell for a $100+ and hundreds soon thereafter. Minus that 1 auction there has been a total of 'maybe" 50 Direct Sales Error copies sold since it appeared last week. Unless there are literally cases upon cases that show up (and I am not saying that isn't a possibility, but very unlikely) , again I ask how is 50 copies of a "white- hot" comic showing up after a week not rare/ limited. We see that and WAYYY more of books that are 1:100,1:250 and even 1:500 incentives upon release.
  12. You buy any? And those ten to the 30 something current auctions and you've got a nice deep puddle forming. Are you combining the Retail with the Direct Sales auctions ? If so, why? They are 2 different books. As i type this there are 41 current auctions listed for Justice League 51 error with a total of 3 Direct Sales copies available. I stopped counting half way down the list at over 100 + available copies of retail Error/Misprints
  13. Those that buy error coins, stamps, trading cards etc. must all be DUMB too ? I wouldn't touch the Retail Errors but the Direct Sales are very much a speculative buy IMO. If it's not your thing, it's not your thing. Buying variant covers or small independent books with small print runs might be your thing. That's cool too...
  14. Retail Errors = flood... Direct Sales Errors =4 currently for sale on feebay... flood?
  15. why is "decades" in quotes? I opened in 1991. Public record. I didn't want to assume your age and tenure in the business . It shows
  16. Well, I bought 10 , have no idea how many copies he sold within the last so many days, so proof of the 50 he had ? not possible anymore. I have read enough on these boards the last so many years to know that you understand the market having been a shop owner for "decades". You offer up insight and opinions all the time, so what I can not understand is why when someone else offers up a differing opinion you instantly become so defensive and most times very Offensive! Where is your transcript from this conversation ? where is your picture of 50+ copies ? where is your.... ? We are on the same side of this spec and still you are being overly combative ...
  17. Guess my "less than 220' everyone was crapping on is still holding up.... Well... You HAD 58 , I know of a store owner in Florida that HAD 50 total (for his 3 locations).Which ,btw, debunks the theory they were only shipped from one Diamond warehouse. You add the current and completed auctions with what is floating around , I would say "less than 220" won't hold. BUT it does appear these will be extremely scarce . I HOPE you are right Larry as I have 10 copies ! Maybe DC will release a statement on the matter in the future
  18. Collector's should want both. Also does anyone know if this book only went to Barnes and Noble? Again the manager I talked to said that if the book was recalled and they have yet to put it on the shelf then it won't make it to the shelf and that other stores would pull them. I guess it pays to get to Barnes and Noble now even though most of their books sit on the newsstand for extended periods. No doubt! Have to "assume" the print run on the regular #51 cover to be 90,000+ so the B&N is rare in comparison regardless.
  19. FYI Just went through the 45 current listed auctions as of 10:05 est . for the JLA #51 misprint/error Luthor copies. B&A copies available 71 Direct Sales 11
  20. Exactly, what will we see listed a month from now? The B&N people are listing in droves, with some Yahoos even listing lots of 5 ,10 and more! That IS NOT happening with the Direct Sales error books. I can see people being able to walk into a Barnes in Nobles in a week or 2 and still being able to purchase that error at cover, but walking into a LCS and finding one for cover.... not likely.

Know your DCU! Sell your Superman and Lois Lane #1 variants now. I know my DCU and I also understand the market. The character that people are being presented with was born in Convergence , introduced in the pages of SLC and will be a star of Super Sons. If you chose to speculate in Jonathan Lane Kent when Jonathan Samuel Kent is being featured than that is your prerogative .
