  1. Not exactly true. Depends on how you filter them onto the market. For example I will sell some #1's from the go. Than I will add a book with each new issue release. Get some slabbed, trade some etc etc etc Now if I were buying 1,000 of each issue than one would have a much more difficult task in liquidating. All this is made easier with the initial cost being what it is.
  2. I will be ordering 250 of #1 and 150 of #2, #3 and #4 . Total investment is approx $1400 for 700 books. If it flops I still have wiggle room with selling sets, IF it soars I will be positioned nicely. One doesn't need to have a large store when there is e-bay to sell to collectors/Investors/speculators/other dealers etc around the world. Good luck! Seems to be working out well for Nowhere Men, eh ViperDays? That said, . I just wouldn't have the time, nor care or afford the overhead of bagging, boarding, boxing, paying for postage and shipping that many books. If it explodes, congrats. Odds are that it won't be the next TWD. I hope it is? Best of luck? Yes, working out very well with NWM and a few other IMAGE titles I have yet to sell either SAGA,MP,PP etc . Books come bagged and boarded, postage is paid by buyers, letter carrier picks up packages at my door,no way around time to list or package...that's what the kids are for :-) My point here is that most people think there is too much work and are not willing to do this ...even as a side gig. My biggest thing is that US sellers tend to not ship overseas. No more time or effort and your consumer base is expanded exponentially. Hell, if I knew posting here would cause people to drop orders I would have posted earlier....JUST KIDDING !!!

  4. no, but I will be placing some 9.8 's on my nightstands to help me sleep more comfortably at night. They are sexy indeed
  5. I expect a "few" slabs back next week. ;-) yes, ALL were bought pre-order . Makes it easier to spend monies on slabs when the cost begins at 40-50% of cover . I have a few dogs too. It is nice however when you are in early and cheap on a HOT title
  6. part of my small horde of NWM 1-3 including 2nd prints ...more than 50 and less than 100 sets :-)
  7. I indulge in gambling, penny stocks, ripping and flipping and have for the better part of 3 decades. I am not sure I was trying to give everyone a reality check but if it does to some degree than good. To me there are people on these boards that are pulling the old pump and dump on books and hate seeing people who may not know any better lose their shirts. No I am not the police of the boards and people can do as they wish but sometimes throwing out the prospectors side of the coin allows for the newbie to have a better understanding that not everyone is your buddy or pal. Am I going to buy into EoW and Jupiters Legacy and Guardians of the Galaxy etc etc etc YES , am I going to look to turn around and sell into the frenzy YES. Don't over extend or risk the rent money on ANYTHING ... my best advice is to sell IMMEDIATELY when possible, enough to recoup your investment ,and then let it ride after that. That philosphy has served me and others well for years.
  8. actually my EX-wife is ridiculously hot.... as far as my looks and body...thank goodness for my money and humor ...think Jack Black :-)
  9. Not thin-skinned at all . If anything I don't shy away from confrontation at all. That is why I replied immediately. Your comment was rude hence the response. I see people who hoard and don't share information on these boards . Sharing insight can only help your cause. Translation.... BUY BUY BUY people so I can SELL SELL SELL into the market . How about that for being open about motives!
  10. just don't plan on playing an extra inning game ....
  11. thanks for the smart reply. perhaps you didn't read further about the Marvel/DC books and variants.Next years response won't be Image books as they will be into the100K +print range. Beanie babies, Furbys, POGS etc etc etc My user id comes from my ride and the house I live in is 5000+ sq foot on the intracoastal (the waterway for those overseas). ALL from comics, cards, coins, action figures etc Sometimes the obvious response is the right response . Sheesh people . The reason people don't like joining discussions on these boards is because of these idiotic attacks. Why there are far more lurkers than those that contribute to the forum. Just the other day I was reading the Bedlam thread and was amazed how a investor with a 100+cgc books was being called out because others couldn't fathom someone investing THEIR money into that amount of books. Anyone here old enough to have made a killing during the 90's with their stock portfolios? IPO's of everything/anything .com associated. A MONKEY throwing darts could have given the same SEARING INSIGHT at the time. IMAGE IMAGE IMAGE ..... is the same as VALIANT VALIANT VALIANT back then . Sorry if the obvious hurts peoples feelings. There is an ever expanding bubble that WILL burst. Someone will be left with a warehouse full of these comics but it won't be me or those that are aware of cycles in the market and don't try to fight the trend!
  12. To answer a few more PM's . Where to buy quantity? for example Checkout mailordercomics.com out of Nebraska. Wonderful customer service (penny) and awrsome packaging. Order deadlines for most ALL books is 23 days before release. 38-50% of cover. Call them and tell them Hollywood referred you for their services. JZ Are higher print runs going to kill the comic marketplace? In the short term (18 months to 24 months) NO . The publishers would LOVE to print 50K,100K to 1,000,000 books . So too would the distributors enjoy placing these orders and taking their 10+% for doing it. Intermediate time frame(2-5 years) YES. there just are not 1,000,000 customers for each release. Anyone want to comment on storage areas full of X-Force #1, Spider-man #1 (McFarlane run) , X-Men #1 (Jim Lee) etc etc etc When should I consider bailing? I don't have a crystal ball but when the sportscard guys who buy 50+ cases of product that costs $1,000 + per case become aware of the ROI comics are bringing in again they won't hesitate to buy 1000 or more of each "HOT" title. They are in it to make $ . I have bills to pay, a family to care for a ex-wife to appease. I am sorry comics are not immune to a bubble. What books are you buying ? Image comics currently are a good investment. Marvel/DC #1's with tons of variants added. Flipping the variants immediately can pay for and even give one a profit. IF the book is great you can really make a nice ROI Are you the devil? umm...depends on who you ask
  13. Still 18-24 months out... but you are correct.no sense in getting off the train this early before it derais.
  14. Apples and Oranges ....my POINT is ...this will not be a 12-13,000 automatic slam dunk book like NWM . But has the potential to be a great flip for those that are interested in that sort of thing. BTW I hope there are only 25,000 than my investment will be for 1%+ of the entire print run . SWEET hahaha
  15. We are Off topic here a bit. Yes, East of West will be heavily ordered for a Image book....50K+ BUT if the story is great ...that number will be gobbled up by all, Collectors/speculators/dealers etc. This is a BUY IMO and will be a nice secondary market for those that chose to flip.
  16. Exactly, a week before release what they are selling is the remainder of what they had to place orders for 2 1/2 weeks earlier . Midtown, tfaw, etc ,in general , have the same restrictions as far as placing orders. If their customers have placed say orders for 300 copies they may order an additional 30% for their inventory. Remembering they are making money on your orders (the cost to the distributor is say 50-55% of cover) they bring their remaining inventory a week before release at a discount or perhaps at cover. Once they sell-out they have to replenish through the secondary market like everyone else. Ofcourse their contacts are far greater than yours and mine
  17. hmmm, I don't place my orders until the final day not because of a budget but because the buyer doesn't have to.Why have money tied up in a book that doesn't release, in your example, 2 months from now when that money can be used to create profits. Ofcourse I am a speculator/dealer and my 40%+ discount is good up to the FOC and I buy hundreds at a time. Never has a book sold out (that I have been apart of ) before the FOC. Not sure how that is possible . Once again the FOC is placed so a book can be produced based on the orders received by Diamond by this date . In reality , other than producing more books for giveaways, for talent that worked on the books, comps etc, no book should ever be printed less than or more than the orders that are received by the FOC. BTW the FOC, in general, is 23 days before the scheduled release of a book.
  18. why ? because this isn't a limited product that you need to get order in before it sells out. No need to place an order that you have to pay for until the last day possible. The FOC is established so the books can than be printed to order.
  19. How can it be sold out when the FOC is 3/4? I don't place my orders through distributors until the FOC (final order cutoff date). Midtown must have decided to double what has been ordered and sell into the frenzy. Other than that this book can still be ordered for another month.
  20. Did the company not sell ANY of these initially ? Completed auctions show 52 sold and now 10 additional copies being listed for sale .
  21. Absolutely LOVED Todd:The ugliest Kid ....strong feeling about this one turning into a ongoing series . From the eye popping fun art to the risque yet hillarious writing. ALready itching for the 2nd issue ....tick tock tick
