  1. Well, why didn't you say that in the first place? Or did you? And here I thought you were the OP - talk about thread hijack. Just trying to provide useful information relevant to the OP's question. You should try it! Bill going above and beyond ! The results of this more extensive test should be interesting. Any chance you have a CGC or PGX comic to test as well? No, I put the Spider-man in the window because it was already damaged, and was easy to do. Not willing to possibly destroy a nice book, and besides, I am not concerned about my display habits. Direct sunlight, bad! LED lights, a few hours a year, not bad!

  3. Too much for me, and you would have to use like-new older books for it to be at all accurate, and I wouldn't want to volunteer any. My point, in all of this, is that comics today are much more resilient to light/acid than they were 20 plus years ago. Having young collectors all worked up over even displaying their collection is just not necessary any longer. Paper, covers, boxes, bags, boards, etc. are all much better quality than they used to be. Spend your money on more comics, not expensive, unnecessary ways to protect them from imagined problems.
  4. No, I wanted to see how a new book would react- no way to tell if an older book has already faded. My position is that the new books are better quality paper and inks and everything, and are unlikely to fade anytime soon,
  5. My new Ultimate spider-man #1 had a tear on the spine, so with this thread in mind, I put it in a cheap bag and board (from a Midtown order) and put it in my window of my comic book room inside the blinds, so it is always exposed. Faces north, so gets light all day, some direct sun, some not. Placed it on Mothers day, and will scan it every so often for several months to see how it does. May not be scientific, but certainly 'real world'. So far, about 234 hours of natural light, a good deal of bright sunshine, and no noticeable fading. I set it next to another copy from my boxes, and couldn't tell them apart. I am feeling better about having them in my dark room on display with only a few hours of LED light per month! window picture 5-10-14 5-16-14 5-28-14
  6. Just back yesterday- my 4 coupon books:
  7. I voted no. I have always looked at TBP's as non-collectables.
  8. Here are two links that go way more in depth than I care about: http://www.nedcc.org/free-resources/preservation-leaflets/2.-the-environment/2.4-protection-from-light-damage https://www.cci-icc.gc.ca/caringfor-prendresoindes/articles/10agents/chap08-eng.aspx My summary: No sunlight. LED's only, for short periods of time. Based on what some of us seem to think, the comics in our LCS will have faded to all white in a week or so....
  9. Switch your light bulbs to LED and have at it! As long as you use LED's and block the windows, you are good to go.
  10. Everything was as it should be! Thanks!
  11. Everything was good here! Fast shipping, good price, safe shipping! Thanks!
  12. Seems like if I was always in a hurry for my books, I would only do coupon or standard submissions. I have done 8 on coupons, and 9 on standard and been pleased every time. As far as the expense, I buy my moderns already slabbed and save time and money!
  13. My 4 coupon books, sent 4/8, received 4/9, verified 4/10.
  14. Good enough for me! I am getting my next submission ready as we speak!
  15. Locke and Key Blue came today! Here is the OA from Petersen.... And the two books that came with it:
  16. Hard to get one without the case making the book look bad-- scuff marks you would never notice on a normal cover look awful on an all black cover. How are your 9.6's?
  17. The black and white was tough on my scanner to get a good scan.
  18. Finally got the TMNT Blue Ultimate collection from IDW, with this piece of OA, which is why it took so long.....
  19. Looks like a small trailbike with plastic covers, even on the wheels. I imagine they took those parts off and where ever it is, it bears no resemblance to the bike in the picture.
