  1. He wasn't the only one who did that and I agree - very sad.
  2. You've told yours but we still haven't heard Mitch's. We need to hear his.
  3. I was waiting for you to say something like that...
  4. Love the signage on the door to the right of the Metropolis booth. The top sign says "EXIT" while the one taped to the door says "NOT AN EXIT".
  5. Your original post mentions that you're planning to invest in Flash comics in a year and you also ask whether there could be an increase in value to Flash comics produced between 1987 and 2011. That's an investment query either directly or indirectly.
  6. What's so special about this period that makes you think that investing in it is a good idea?
  7. Looks can be deceiving. I've seen "well heeled" turn into "heel" more than once. One should treat every transaction like boxing - protect yourself at all times.
  8. You're in Canada - he's in the US - you're dealing with two different currencies and two different countries. Based on my experience dealing with this exact situation, your bank is probably going to tell you 30 business days give or take. 1. Ask your bank NOW - not when you deposit it. The reason being is that you'll need to advise the purchaser ASAP that there's going to be a delay due to the fact that his cheque has to clear before you send. He could well be under the impression that you're going to ship as soon as you deposit his cheque. He's not going to want to hear that he has to wait 30 days after you've deposited the cheque, 2. Ask your bank your bank to explain the exact process to you in case they can't/won't pin it down. Then you can relay that to the buyer. 3. "A. Williams" has a first name - make sure that you know what it is. Also phone number and street address (as opposed to a P.O. Box). 4. Find out about insurance ASAP - some carriers may well have a maximum amount of insurance that you can buy.
  9. I was there. The above is partially correct. The full answer includes the above and two other events that happened at the same time - the arrival of Neal Adams and the simultaneous and unceremonious dumping/diminished roles of most of the stable of DC artists etc.
  10. Already "I d. i. o. t. s". They would have been 15 or so when that photo was taken.
  11. CNN reporting today that Al Jaffee has passed away at age 102...
  12. Yup - these artists and celebrities charging hundreds for a 2 second scrawl are completely sane. It's the people that pay their prices who are out of their minds.
  13. Gotta disagree with the holes being made by the newsstand vendor. No kid is going to buy a brand new book with a hole through it. Clipped on a string yes - a nail hole through it - no way. Besides, a vendor would not have the time to fiddle around trying to hammer a nail through a bunch of comics. He would have to get that product displayed ASAP. Nor would the vendor have time to remove the nail from the wood every time someone wanted a comic. He could though, easily and quickly unclip a book. Having a nail hole through the books might have even affected the vendor's ability to return them to the distributor for credit damaged as they'd be.
  14. In looking at FF 5 again, I believe that it was the last page that he had too.
  15. This guy's too stupid to follow his own advice. If he feels that the book's worth 2-3X more then he should buy it and then resell it at the higher price! He should be blocked for non payment AND stupidity.
  16. FYI - Your heading refers to vintage Batman cards but all of the photos are of video games
  17. If the person paid by credit card, the PO might be able to find out who paid to send it...
  18. Too bad nobody at the PO picked up on the name and company of the sender and ask him/her for ID. Glad that you got your stuff back.
  19. Joe inked a plethora of DC Silver Age books. One of my prized possessions is DC Silver Age Flash Archives Vol 1 signed by Joe and several others involved. Thanks for all of the great memories Joe.
  20. Sorry but if you've got the time to log on - you've got the time to type a sentence explaining the situation. BTW - do we even know whether these are his books?
