  1. GREAT JOB GREATESCAPE! Thanks for taking the time to take those pics and post them. Next best thing to being there.
  2. Thanks - I didn't see him listed on the NYCC vendor's list . Possible that I missed it.
  3. OK - NOW this post is LIVE! Looks as if Mike Burkey is not attending...Bechara? Any photos will probably be quite similar to photos from the last major con...
  4. This is a Canadian produced comic - 1. Are all of the characters in it "Canadian"? 2. Very curious that a Canadian comic would have the banner "America's Newest Sensation" 3. If the comic was produced in B & W why would any kid in the US buy it?
  5. Or in this case "Black and White Hood"? Red Hood = Batman Black Hood = MLJ
  6. No British printed price doesn't surprise me - too expensive. Even a stamped British price doesn't surprise me given the point in history. I am surprised by the fact that it was distributed to the UK. I would have thought that comic books would have been on the list of unnecessary imports.
  7. Cool book. Probably 1944. A one shot which reprints parts of Pep Comics 49, 48 and 46 according to GCD. Since you have it in England and given what the verbiage at the bottom of the inside cover says, it's reasonable to assume that this book was printed in Canada and immediately shipped to Miller in London. Out of curiosity, is there anything printed on the inside back cover?
  8. ...and...if you're like me...after FINALLY finding the book several of them pop up.
  9. But let me guess - you had to pay immediately. Something radically wrong with their business model...
  10. I believe that there's also a Canadian Millie the Model Annual. #4 I believe.
  11. In my jurisdiction, the small ones were worth 2 cents while the larger ones were worth 5 cents. I don't remember ever having found a 5 center.
  12. Back in 1967 I didn't have $1.40. BUT there were plenty of discarded pop bottles whose gathering up and redemption at the local corner store allowed me to buy comics and gum cards...
  13. All this being said, there's a lot of stuff hidden away that people have no idea about - you never know what's out there.
  14. Not too sure whether some reading this might think that thread title was meant as a joke but those were indeed HUGE prices at the time. Think about it. You wouldn't get get your picture holding an old comic published unless it was! Nowadays, if you bought a copy of Action #1 for $1800, you'd still get your picture published in every media outlet but it wouldn't be as a result of paying a record HIGH price. PS I hope some one told Rotor and the reporter that Rotor is NOT holding a copy of Action #1.
  15. I was a bit disappointed not to see any '40s art...or did I miss that?
  16. Yes - but not before one asked the other whether or not he could apply.
