  1. Well, without Action #1, there probably would not have been SC #4. However, in a different part of the multi-verse, something different may have happened, but since we are stuck in this reality, this is what we have to go with.
  2. Ok FYI, this is going up on a ComicLink auction later this month, which of you Flash fans are going for it? Highest graded, one of three. (How is it even possible there is one, let alone three in this grade, wow!) Any speculation on the $$$ it will bring?
  3. I think Roy's approach is pretty balanced and though some might take it as self-centered by Roy referencing the topic he did, I think it comes more from of a sense of gratitude for their lifelong professional and personal relationship and disappointment that things couldn't have been better and that they let temporal emotions interfere and disrupt that relationship instead of putting them in their place and rising above it. You know, just stuff that being a human puts you through and punches you in the gut when the mortality of life slaps you in the face.
  4. Truely someone who took comic book art to another level. Thanks for the memories and the inspiration Neal.
  5. Any publication data like an indicia on the inside?
  6. Sent in with 5 other books under the Standard Tier. Shipped out Mar. 23, delivered to CGC Mar. 25. Marked received by CGC Apr. 8. Marked graded and shipped out from CGC Apr. 22. Delivered to me Apr. 29.
  7. Holy multi-verse Batman! Earlier I posted one of my first raw pickups of the year was a Flash #140. I sent it in to be graded and just got it back yesterday. I knew it was a super-nice copy and thought it had some real high-grade potential, so I had it as probably a 9.0, 9.2 tops, but it looks like graders liked it even more. Needless to say, I'm ecstatic with the result!
  8. His splash pages were like the opening scenes of a major motion picture. Power and drama brought to life through visually stunning and precise illustrations. One of my favorites being the splash page of X-Men #56. I remember being a 9-year-old boy blown away by it the moment I opened it up.
  9. The comics market was much more diversified back in those days. Superheroes were in the minority by far. Looking at the MikesAmazingWorld Newsstand listings for that month, I counted 13 different titles published by Archie Comics that month. War, Westerns, Cartoons, Romance, TV shows and Movies; the genres were all over the place. I counted 21 non-Archie Romance titles; that is just amazing! In spite of comic books being regarded as a nerdy guy's medium, at least back in 1962, the proportion of titles directed at a female audience of many age groups tells a different story.
  10. Going to be worth a lot more of these....
  11. Congrats!!! This is one of my favorite covers from the Silver Age and one of several from the late 60's where DC pulled the plug on convention and allowed some pretty cool concepts and creativity for the cover art to be done on some of their books.
  12. Uh-oh, egg on my face. Which issue is the wall crawling pinup from?
  13. That's right, find one that has the right eye appeal for you.
  14. Get as high grade as you can budget for a #3. Here's my copy and a close as I'll ever come to owning a copy. Oddly, I can't remember how I got this other than it was a promotional item included in something. Not only that, but you also get these two cool Spidey pinups in issue #3. (on a side note, does anyone use the word "pal" anymore?)
  15. I'm always torn between owning high grade books that have sentimental value to me (like the first comic I bought myself, or the first one I ever bought of a certain title) and owning keys of books I never actually owned in the past in my original collection, but want them now because they are considered keys for one reason or another.
  16. 8.5's are tricky. It can be a nearly perfect book but if there is any kind of stain or moisture mark or a miniscule tear on it, 8.5 is usually the top grade a book will get with defects like that. Do you have the grader notes on this one?
  17. Let's turn this argument around and see how it flies.... I got a 7.5 that I think looks like a 9.4 that I'll sell ya for the 9.4 price. Any takers?
