Hi, nice copy here but I thought I'd run it across the boards here and see what you think. It has an unsightly tape pull at the middle top edge of the back cover, but otherwise some normal wear that would be expected for a normal upper mid-grade copy. I am thinking about a 7.0, but not sure how a tape pull like this would affect the grade.

High Grade Silver Age certified 9.6 and higher!

Here's another of my few 9.6's. This is one of my favorite covers of the Silver Age so I just had to have a beautiful copy of it. -

We have entire swaths of people across all generations who have been conditioned to think if they don't get what they want or can't succeed, then they must be a victim of (insert "ism" here) and are so thus entitled because of their victimhood regardless of how their own choices and efforts have affected their outcome.

Well, let's hope that a year from now something like this doesn't suddenly happen to a book so treated..... -

@MAR1979 You've got a sweet Showcase 55 there. I just picked up this copy in the past year. They both have almost exactly the same wrap and cover cut. I just love the deep purple cover and if you look at different copies, there is some variance in the tone of the purple color from issue to issue. -
Oh man, why did you post that? I haven't purchased any Flash books in a while and this little video has got me drooling.

Help! Curator Pedigree: Who was it and where was it?
Jaylam replied to Jaylam's topic in Comics General
I did manage to reach out to John myself and he said the collection was from Minnesota and that he had gotten in on the last part of the collection being sold. -

The Silver Surfer Collecting Thread
Jaylam replied to comicgrinder's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Posted this in another thread, but I believe this is a more appropriate place for it. I was never a big fan of the cover of Silver Surfer #1 but always liked the splash page better and thought it would have made a more dynamic presentation, so I made this mockup of what could have been using the splash page as the cover. What do you think, +1 or -1? -

I always thought this cover was rather lame and static, especially if you compare it to the other explosive covers that came out for the new solo titles at the time. Not John Buscema's best effort to capture the scope and spirit of the character for a new #1. The art used on the splash page would have made for a much more dynamic cover. -
My Mexican Publication Spanish Silver Age Collection
Jaylam replied to Frisco Larson's topic in Silver Age Comic Books
Judging from some of the images posted, there was apparently no "Comics Code Authority" south of the border. (I remember I read somewhere Jim Steranko said he was told to scale back some of the cleavage he was drawing on some of his female figures back in his 60's Nick Fury run as the CCA censors were having them go back and remove some of it before they would approve it for publication.) -
Trying to find more information on the Curator Pedigree. Nothing I've been able to find reveals who the collector was and where the collection was purchased and stored, like what city and what museum did this collector work for? Can anyone shine anymore light beyond what I've been able to find so far? Thanks!
