Anyone facilitating?

I just found this thread. I have one of these, with a witnessed Stan Lee signature and an alleged Dynamic-Forces Jack Kirby signature. I remember when this comic was released that Jack Kirby appeared on TV -- I am pretty sure it was QVC -- when they were selling signed copies of the comic. They certainly represented that Kirby was personally signing these comics. My memory could be wrong after all of these years, but I think they actually showed Kirby signing some of the books during the commercial. That doesn't mean anything, of course, regarding any particular signed book. But I wonder if any of these books -- whether it's the FF 1 Marvel Milestone or the X-Men 1 Marvel Milestone, were actually signed by Jack and not Roz Kirby?

I just got this one back from CGC. Two rare sigs, love the placement.

This came as a shock. Now all three creators of this great book have passed.

I forgot about this one. Not my most valuable, but maybe my favorite book, as Miller's initial run on DD will always be my favorite run of my favorite character. And this example features the signatures of almost everyone responsible for that run: DD's creator (Stan), writer/artist (Miller), artist (Janson), editor (O'Neil), and editor-in-chief (Shooter). The only ones missing are Glynnis Wein (who did not color this issue) and Joe Rosen (the inker, who passed away awhile ago). I also love the placement and quality of the sigs. Even Miller made his signature more appealing than his usual scrawl.

Stan Lee wrote in Origins of Marvel Comics that Daredevil 47 was the DD story of which he was most proud. I love the signature placement on this book, with his signature seemingly part of the action.

And my Batman 232, the only copy with the sigs of all three creators, including the rare Giordano before he passed.

My Avengers 96, with all four creators signing in silver . . . their signatures exploding from the alien's head!

I have a few books which fit into this thread, I love revisiting them. Here's my Amazing Adventures 39, the last Killraven issue by McGregor and Russell.

I just got word that my Warlock 10 just shipped after the Starlin signing. I sent the book to CGC after it had already been signed by Alan Weiss. It was a 9.6. After CGC cracked it and had it signed by Starlin, it is now an 8.5. “small tear with crease right center of front cover breaks color.” Who is handling these books? What are they doing with them? How are they damaging them?

I was saddened to learn just now that David Anthony Kraft, who wrote a fairly long run of well-received bronze-age Defenders comics, passed away within the last couple of days of Covid-related pneumonia. RIP DAK.

Conan 37 not only has a Neal Adams cover; Adams also illustrated the story inside. That was a big deal when it came out. I was collecting comics In the 1970s as a teenager. There were many comics in those days which commanded a premium, whereas today the demand for them is not as strong. If you check out Overstreet price guides from that era, you should find that Conan 37 was one of those issues.

I contacted Mike Ploog’s representative over the summer. I was politely told that Mike has retired. He won’t be signing any more comics.

I agree with this. If you are having it signed with an eye toward resale, there is no way I would add a celebrity to a key book.

It’s survival of the fittest out there, man.
