  1. For some reason this book looks like Epic Kill to me..

I thought this until I read the preview and then a few interviews with Rucka. He created the book with a "What if..." scenario in mind. I guess the idea came about during the depths of the recession. Basically, it's what if the economy never gets better. What happens then? Sounds like it will be a multi-dimensional story...unlike Epic Kill.

That only found different dimensions when it was crumbled up and thrown away.

    lol

  2. Just read #3 last night. Anybody else have a Printing error on the inside "title" page (approx. inside pg 4-5 I think?) Both my pull copies have a straight vertical crease running the length of the book in the same spot.

Not really worth it to make a fuss at the shop, and of course I didn't open the bag and board (free on Wed) to double check.

Wondering if my books were just part of a bad lot or if the whole run had this.

    Mine have this defect:

  3. http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/06/05/x-men-and-the-wake-top-the-advance-reorders-chart/

I posted this earlier today in The Wake thread. And I'm sure 99% of the forum checks Bleeding Cool already, but Lazarus #1 is going to be EVERYWHERE. I am looking forward to the title and I have #1 and #2 on my Previews orders, but speculating I think we need to start moving in a new direction.

Who saw Polarity from Boom coming? I knew it was going to be a good title (huge Say Anything fan), but I did not think to order huge on it like EoW. The Wake is one of the best new releases I read, but the combo of artist and writer won't have a high secondary because there are plenty to go around. We need to start looking at Boom, Vertigo, and whatever else there is. Titles like Black Beetle, 12 Reasons to Die, even Uber fly under the radar because of the publisher. I think things will be changing very soon with titles like Collider and Sixth Gun Gorilla.

    Thoughts?

Hello fellow Say Anything fan :hi: I didn't order big on Polarity either. Too much of a risk for me, even as a fan of Max's music.

I've ordered Collider but I don't think Vertigo titles are good to speculate on these days. I've ordered a bunch of other small tittles like the stuff on Black Mask but just one of each, just for myself cos I like what Black Mask are doing. Can't really afford to speculate on every #1.

  4. I had no problems following the storyline. In fact, this is the book that solidifies everything that has happened so far.

Exactly how I feel. Reading it I didnt think for one second that I would read that people were having issues following along

    +1

I've been confused by comics on the past but this reads quite easily to me. I find the map of territories at the back of issue 1 helps me a lot, much like a map of Westeros helps reading GoT.

Really enjoyed #3, apart from Mao V there were no new characters so it focused more on fleshing out the existing ones.

Happy to try and answer any questions people may have about #3 if it helps someone stick with the title.

I was actually wondering how people who find this book confusing keep up with GoT :insane:

  5. will be reading this tonight on my way home.

i love series that seem to actually REWARD the reader for reading it multiple times.

ive read the MindMGMT series three times now, still fresh

Same. This along with Mind MGMT are 2 of my favourite comics right now.

  6. I read issue three last night.

And I don't know. Not the greatest feeling when I finished reading it.

No I'm actually tempted to SELL SELL SELL. That was atrocious. I had no idea what was going on and was scrambling to piece it together as the issue finished. It is taking the path of all Hickman issues.

I'm tempted to put up my 9.8 copy of 1 and the first three issues for sale. This was not a good book.

    :takeit:

  7. Can anyone suggest a good panel for turning into pixel art? I wanna make a huge EoW piece!

Don't know if this would turn out well but my fav panel:

    east-of-west2.jpg

Sort of embodies EoW (well... for the first 2 issues anyways).

I love that page! It'd be way too hard to pixelize though unfortunately. It'd probably turn out the size of a house.

  8. Just read #3. This book is pure awesomeness. You could tell from #1 that the world here is massive and if the quality stays the way it has been so far then, wow. It'll be interesting to see how sales go once the trade is out. I'll make an early prediction that many blogs and websites will name this as comic of the year in December. It'll be this year's Saga.

  9. And the biggest news of the week is Rachael Rising #1. I know, I know. 'But Whet, everyone knows about this book!' And your probably right but the Rachael Rising #1 I'm talking about is the 3rd print which is getting some series cash from some series collectors.

    Rachael Rising #1 3rd Printing @ $52 & 4 bids.

Multiple issues are being picked up and noted on Lyria Exchange Modern Age Comics Heating up top 100 list.

  10. never heard of Proof....

That's because it was out on Image before Image was "hot".

    That's not true at all.

Image wasn't through the roof like it is now, but Proof was part of a previous hot streak that included books like Morning Glories, 27, Skullkickers, and a few others.

    Proof #1 was a $30+ book for a while.

Umm, Proof was out in 2007. Those other books you mentioned were 2010 books.

  11. Really like this book but was disappointed in the ending of #6.

It just felt a bit forced like it had been written as a mini and they needed to change the end of #6 in order to make it an ongoing. It wasn't a great cliffhanger. All it said to me was "let's do more of the same for the next arc... and the one after that etc" rather than being a good "twist".

Also, yes, Riley's characters all look the same. Dudes in Bedlam look like the guy from Green Wake.

  12. So let me get this straight...

Tommy Voltage comes onto a message board and tells whoever reads it that this particular shop is awful in essence.

Larry, who is a retailer and I would think defends other retailers as he should basically calls out this poster and says he will share those statements with that LCS, who this just in runs a business with employees and people that count on employment, but Tommy did nothing wrong?

To think anyone would agree with Tommy Voltage's statement and not think there would be repercussions is laughable.

Remember, Larry is going to be around much much longer then many of you.

It's a good idea to think about who you are knocking before you post. People like Larry, Eric Stephenson etc have done a lot more good for comics then the majority of people bashing. We are lucky to have them as part of our community.

    But what do I know...

    :applause:

Googled this guy. TOTALLY not what I pictured Larry looking like.

Is this the same Larry who made those racist comments a few years ago?

  13. I ordered some copies from FP last week also, but the order still hasn't been processed.

I doubt it's because they're handling orders in reverse; if that was the case, mine would have been shipped already! lol

On another note, I'm hoping these are packaged better than the Bedlam #1 FP's I purchased from them last year. That order was a bust!

    :wishluck:

Well they're doing mine in reverse. All have mine have been processed except my first order of EoW back on 24th Jan. (shrug)

Also, they're still posting them in the flimsy mailers but they added 2 boards per comic. All of mine have arrived perfect (though I'm in the UK).

  14. I just need to get my 5 shipped, they're being held hostage by fp.

    What's the hold up?

    no idea, still processing

They're doing the orders in reverse. So the earlier you ordered the longer you'll be waiting for it to process.

  15. That is a sweet piece :applause: , and in other news, received my FP copies today in excellent condition - which is pretty surprising with them hanging out the end of the bags but at least their using backing boards now (thumbs u

they're only using boards for EoW for some reason. my other comics came like they usually do. was shocked when i opened EoW package though and saw 2 boards per comic :o
