  1. Just discovered that retromags.com site and it's awesome. I think they have almost all of the issues up to around 150 or so. Downloaded a couple over the weekend because I'm really feeling nostalgic lately and have been picking up some of the old games I used to play as a kid (i'm 34 now....).
  2. Christmas Eve delivery from the mailman a few minutes ago!
  3. Beautiful comics Fantasyland!!!! Happy Holidays to all you EC Addicts!!
  4. Had to be a typo at the end of grading. I had it around 5.0...
  5. fifties, Is that a list that you could share? Proprietary? I'd love to see a copy of that if it's public knowledge, or was it printed in a book somewhere?
  6. Shipped Safe 12/15/2014, as well. That's 15 business days, exactly, if you count Thanksgiving and Black Friday as non-business days.
  7. Whelp, I obviously need more practice with golden age grading. The #2 just shipped at 5.0, the #3 at 7.5. I think they hammered me with staining on the #2. And the CSS #22 I bought that Metro graded as a 4.5, is a 3.5. Such is life...

  9. Sorry, not for sale!! I'm hoping it gets me at least a 7.0. I bought them both from a guy on eBay selling his Dad's EC collection. I think the 3 has a good shot an an 8.0. He also told me he had Annual 1, and I told him I'd pay good money for it and gave him my cell number but he never called back...It was a situation where he and his brother were selling the collection of and each had so many of the books....that one's impossible!!!!
  10. Doesn't bother me that much because I never plan to re-sell. I just thought it was odd because in the same submission, I had Tales of Terror Annuals 2 and 3, and they had comments such as bondage cover, skull cover, etc, and the CSS 22 was blank.. I guess given that all books are graded independently, one person might be more thorough than another at any point in the process....
  11. So my CSS22 hit "Scheduled for Grading", to "Graded" today, but in the Key Notes, it doesn't say "Classic Decapitation Cover", and is just blank in that field. Do they update that later? Or was it maybe missed?
  12. Update: Collector's Society 4-Book Submission Scheduled For Grading : 12/10/2014 Same Day Update! Didn't expect that to happen... Collector's Society 4-Book Submission GRADED : 12/10/2014
  13. Update: Collector's Society 4-Book Submission Scheduled For Grading : 12/10/2014
  14. Purchased a Two-Fisted Tales #23 (4.0) Raw from Shrevvy. Was very pleased with the book and was securely packaged and shipped quickly!!!
  15. For anyone with Gaines File Copies, does CGC provide you with the cert of authenticity separately from the slab? Is it inside the book that you'd need to crack it open to get it? I was just curious as I've never seen one....
  16. As a novice to collecting ECs (only a handful graded, all lower grade), and about 200 raws, I'm almost more impressed when I see a non-Gaines File Copy in the 9.0s and up. Just seems like it would be much more difficult to have someone pluck it off a newsstand back in the day, and keep it in that nice of a shape. I definitely plan to get one from each of the major pedigrees as my collection grows, but I still am impressed by the higher grade non-Pedigree books I see...
  17. I can finally participate in this. Sent in 3 Golden Age ECs and an ASM #129, with my 4-book society coupon: Collector's Society 4-Book Submission Mailed : 11/19/14 Collector's Society 4-Book Submission Received : 11/21/14 Collector's Society 4-Book Submission Verified : 11/24/14
  18. I think he might have meant "most recent completed", to get a current read on trending up/down....could be wrong....
  19. Owned this for some time now and finally got around to starting a Photobucket. This is the first book I submitted to CGC. Purchased raw from New Dimension Comics a couple years ago, and submitted in a 1-book submission about a year ago, to test the CGC waters. Still reading the series and is in my Top 3 current reads, and almost always the first book I read any time I pick up my LCS pile...
  20. Got 2 back last week. Cherry-picked from local LCS's early this year for $6.00 each, so can't complain!!
  21. Got 2 back this week. Newsstand and a Direct pair, both purchased raw last year for about $25.00 each.......Now to find a 2nd print out in the wild to complete the trio....
  22. Finally getting to this show. Watched S01E01 last night, and just finished S01E02 now. Similar to how I feel about Gotham, I think i'll like this a bit more 5 or 6 episodes in once it hits it's stride. I was worried about the main character from something someone said on the IFanboy podcast this week in that he seemed cheesy and the trenchcoat looked almost fake, but I think he's good for the role so far....
  23. I do not recommend Eide's in Pittsburgh, even if they claim to be the World's Greatest Comic Store. I can't recall a single time that I've left that store where I didn't feel offended by the narcissism and just plain rudeness from all but maybe one of the "Comic book guys". Maybe if I dropped a few grand on their over-priced golden aged books, they'd be a bit nicer. I live in Pittsburgh, work a 5 minute walk from them, but will never go there again until I hear the day they fire all of their long-term employees and actually get some decent, nice people. I love that they bad-mouth New Dimension Comics, and now 5 stores later, I can guarantee you that NDC is more respected and enjoyed by comic fans. Eides had a 15 year head start to build up a golden/silver collection, but they are juts a bunch of a-holes.
