  1. Upgraded my off-the-rack copy with this one from my local comic shop, then submitted it to CGC:
  2. This is one of two books that still hasn't sold, both Annuals. BTW, sold the Silver, kept the Bronze - don't plan to part with the books I bought off the rack. Do you have an Ann 1 for sale? CGC 8.5 ow/w sold, along with 80 other slabs. All that's left are the Annual 2 and Annual 5 (top census 9.6).

  4. Still more kudes to heap onto Nik, for lightning fast and bombproof delivery of some gorgeous Silver. The man knows his bubble wrap.
  5. Scientist that I am, I gathered data related to the question of scarcest issues in high grade. Here are some census figures, number of copies graded in 9.2 and above: #1 - 6 #2 - 15 #3 - 2 #4 - 11 #5 - 10 #6 - 6 #7 - 9 #8 - 8 #9 - 14 #10 - 17 #11 - 10 #12 - 10 #13 - 5 #14 - 21 #15 - 11 #16 - 16 #17 - 7 #18 - 10 #19 - 14 #20 - 14 Granted, this data set provides only an estimate, especially since some of the recorded numbers are dual submissions. Still, it is clear that FF 3 is the rarest early issue in high grade, followed by issues 1, 6, 13 and 17. Having been looking for a nice upgrade of 17 for the past 3 years or so, I can certainly confirm its scarcity in the marketplace.
  6. Recent upgrade of a toughie in grade, plus my favorite Thor cover pose:
  7. Now scan them and post them That's the seller's job. Kudos to my VCC customers for their smooth transactions: JJBEE2001, Netpooch, Samurai-Bill, Zeman, and Lizards2. Thanks for your biz!
  8. This looks to be an undocumented Green River. (thumbs u Calling Red Hook! Calling Red Hook! Please verify date and style!
  9. Don't think this image is still on the thread, and since it may be the greatest ASM cover of them all, here goes again:
  10. Probably more bronze than silver, but still a cool cover and story: Winnipeg copy
  11. The Bethlehem pedigree doesn't get the respect of many others (for, among other reasons, the mid-Silver Age books tend to look a little toasted), but many of the early Silver Age books from the collection are terrific, including some great looking ten centers:
  12. who the heck knows? i don't read these things anymore... contemplating getting out of the hobby altogether. You stop reading old comics, where in today's world will you find charm and wonder?
